Very disappointing. Will not repeat that experience. I picked up 2 chicken-broccoli-rice casseroles for dinner and not a single one of the six of us liked it at all. Heavy on the rice, very lite on the chicken and broccoli, had sort of a lemony taste; no sauce, just the 3 ingredients mixed together with a little cheese and topped with Ritz (?) crackers. I went to this place and had no idea what I was getting myself into. When I went through the plastic curtain (which opens through the middle BTW, not the side). Inside is a big kitchen and they were taking to go orders on the phone. I opted for the fresh cookies (omg soooo good!), the bread roll (absolutely lovely!) and the chicken parmesan (super solid). I definitely needed some cooking directions on the chicken parm, I overheated the cheese by accident lol. read more

Oh that we lived closer!! Best baked goods in the greater Atlanta area, so far. Holy smokes, Batman! The Fat Lady Baker knows how to cook. I would have never found this place AND I would have never stepped foot inside here if I didn't have the inside scoop from my soon to be SIL. This place is hidden in the back of an older shopping center and probably not very noticeable if you are just driving by. However, I picked up two meals from here and both of them were super delicious. Think about those nights where you want a delicious home-cooked meal, but have no time to prepare it. Stop by the Fat Lady Baker, pick up one of her meals, and BAM! Pop it in the oven and sit back (or do the million and one other things still on your to do list) while a delicious homemade dinner cooks. I picked up the meat and cheese lasagna & the chicken pot pie ( just get it!), but she also had turkey chili, salads, verde enchiladas, and a few other dinner items I don't remember. If you're looking for a home cooked meal without the hassle of cooking or cleaning, this is a great option. I was given a gift card for my baby shower (seriously great idea!). I was a able to pick up a chicken pot pie, cheesy broccoli chicken casserole, 4 chocolate chip cookies, green beans and a loaf of bread. My favorite dish was the casserole, hands down. It was seasoned perfectly, had tons of broccoli, and the chunks of chicken were yummy. The chicken pot pie is the popular menu item and while it was good, I've had better. Nancy is the best! Popped in last night close to 5 pm and she was out of cookies. I had promised my managers that I would bring some for our meeting that started at 6:30. Nancy asked if I had time to wait and she actually BAKED fresh cookies for me . . . I so enjoyed our chat while they baked and I was able to please my managers. I got 3 each of chocolate chip, cranberry, white chocolate, macadamia, and my fav, peanut butter. They were warm and delicious. She is the best . . . customer service like no other! read more

First I must say I have never been to the bakery. All the items I have tried I purchased at the farmer's market in Woodstock. The peanut butter cookie was good. Chocolate chip cookie was just ok...I make better. Danish are ok. Focaccia needs more flavor. Pimento cheese has decent flavor, but is VERY dry. I had to take it home and add mayo to it to make it spreadable. I got my workout too because it was so dry it was hard to incorporate the may. Maybe I need to go to the bakery for a better experience. read more

Popped by the Shallowford Rd / BP Gas Station location for the first time on Saturday morning & had the pleasure of meeting Kathleen who filled me in on all the goodness that is the Fat Lady Baker! I was pleasantly surprised to hear of the quality ingredients that goes into the daily prepared meals. The chicken is organic from a local farm, the beef sourced from Buckhead Beef, the veggies are fresh & sourced locally when possible. Awesome!! Each entree comes with a baguette or veggie. I chose the chicken pot pie & green beans. It was absolutely delicious!! I also picked up a pastry & tried the baguette, both were fantastic. This is a neighborhood gem for a homemade meal on the go. Food may be nice, but watch out for snark. On December 5, I received an email from FLB about preordered holiday goodies. No deadline stated. I immediately responded placing my order, and I she said ok, I needed to call to give credit card to solidify (again, no deadline given). Was in a meeting at the time, got busy - didn't call for 2 weeks and sent email on 12/17 to follow up and set pick up date. She told me it was too late, order deadline passed the day before, even though she never stated any deadline in any of the correspondence I received from her. I responded by telling her that many merchants in the area take note of orders when they are made via email (especially holiday orders) and let the customers pay when they pick up so I wanted to make her aware of that. I even listed specific purveyors who take email orders and allow for pay at pickup, and I wished her Happy Holidays. Instead of her saying "thank you for letting me know" or "so noted" - this is the email I received this email from her at 3:01 a.m. this morning: "If you would have put forth half the effort to confirm your order as you have with this petty argument.... Other people missed the deadline and were understanding as they respected the terms that I set up for my business. I suggest you put your big girl panties on, own it and get over it. You messed up. As a business owner I have to make tough decisions that I truly agonize over. My number is 7705873005 if you would like to continue this." So... yeah - here's the deal. As consumers, we have to make tough decisions that we truly agonize over. Food may be good, but with that snark, I'm never buying from her again. Sure, I missed whatever deadline she set, but to be dressed down like this when I'm giving her feedback about what others in the industry do - no thanks. The type of folks who patronize order-ahead food service business are BUSY and it's unfortunate to see that she has no appreciation. Suffice to say, not going to be putting her food on my family table - plenty of other options out there of supporting businesses who don't treat their customers with such disdain. Found this place when I was going to the dog groomer. Walked in and wow - what a gem! Place is no-frills so don't expect a pretty bakery with fancy glass cases. We are close to their store on Shallowford and it always seems to be closed. They are either open too late or they are closing early. There is so much goodness at this place!! It's not a restaurant but they have to go meals prepared in a gourmet fashion. To ensure the best selection you need to order online. However, I usually take my chances and can score some great meals by dropping by and looking through the fridge. The breads, pretzels, cookies and pastries are all divine. The owner is almost always present and very friendly. I can highly recommend the pumpkin bread, sourdough, dinner rolls, pretzels...their meal selections vary each week and are seasonally themed. They have the very best creme brûlée I have ever eaten. I have been known to by the entire stock in the fridge when I stop by!!! It took me years to find this place and I wish it hadn't!!! I cannot say enough good things about this place! We have been coming here every week for at least a month to pick up prepared meals. They are a life-saver and money-saver for my family. Located in the back of a little commercial strip mall this place is a hidden gem. When you walk in the humor in the name doesn't stop at the sign. The people that work there are friendly, funny, and passionate about the food they make. I have tried a few of their in house snacks as well as an ordered carrot cake. The carrot cake was AMAZING! It wasn't fancy on the outside and prior to purchasing it I was told that fancy design wasn't their strong suit so I was fine with that. I just got through another 'save the day' experience with Fat Lady Baker. I cooked part of our menu for the week, and the FLB team cooked the other part. Everyone will be thankful and grateful and 'this mom' isn't worn out. I truly appreciate their kindness and their attention to detail.
