Food and wait staff are amazing. They get 5 stars. Female cook literally ignores the wait staff or is audibly rude and then argues loudly and breaks up atmosphere of people trying to enjoy a nice meal. 3 times ive experienced it first hand now. read more

I won't be returning here, but hopefully this feedback helps. When we visited, seven tables were seated: two had finished and were waiting to pay for too long, the rest (including ours) were waiting with no food. That's right, a restaurant where no tables had food on them. After 20 minutes, two tables got appetizers and it was another 20 before any other tables got anything. We ordered edamame, but it was mushy and inedible. It seems they keep it sitting in a large vat instead of flash-cooking it fresh, which really showed. Most of the kitchen's focus seemed to be on takeout orders while dine-in guests were left waiting. It's possible they were short-staffed (from other reviews this might just be how they staff), but if that's the case, they should either limit or temporarily shut off online orders, or at least let customers know upfront that food will be delayed. As it stands, table service felt like an afterthought. If they want to keep dine-in, they'll need to balance it better with takeout or just commit fully to being a ghost kitchen. We ended up walking out after 45 minutes and just being served the mushy edamame. They were nice/gracious and didn't charge. read more

The spicy red miso was so good! Boxer Ramen was one of my favorites before I moved away 4 years ago. I have tried so many ramen places since, none have been the same. Thick chashu, diced chashu, great noodles, perfect spice level. It felt like coming home. I will be back every time I am in Portland. read more

We've been to Fat Kitty four times now, and on each of our previous visits we really enjoyed the food. In fact, it was quickly becoming one of our favorite ramen spots in Portland. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was very different. Everything we ordered was extremely salty -- to the point where it was difficult to eat. We started with the pot stickers, which had a heavy coating of seasoning on the outside. It looked similar to Lawry's seasoning salt. When I mentioned it to our server, she explained that the coating is their house-made togarashi. I'm a big fan of togarashi, but this tasted quite different from what I'm used to. Rather than make a big deal of it, we decided to move on and looked forward to the ramen, which we've loved in the past. We both ordered our usual: the spicy miso ramen. Unfortunately, the broth was so salty that neither of us could finish it. It was really disappointing, especially since we've enjoyed this dish so much on previous visits. We mentioned this to our server because we genuinely wondered if something might have gone wrong in the kitchen that night. We explained that we're fans of the restaurant and that the ramen tasted much saltier than anything we had experienced there before. She assured us it was the same recipe they always use. I suggested that perhaps the seasoning blend used on the pot stickers might also have affected the ramen, but she didn't seem interested in passing the feedback along. When I asked if she might check with the kitchen or try the broth herself, she simply replied, "I'm good." Our bill came to about $75 with tip for pot stickers, two spicy miso ramens, a beer, and a Diet Coke. We truly hope this was just an off night, because we've really enjoyed Fat Kitty in the past. But based on this experience, we're not sure we'll be returning. read more

I really wanted to like this small neighborhood spot. The restaurant and wait staff are fine. I was excited to try the shoyu ramen. It's always nice when I can find a vegetarian soup... but this ramen was incredibly salty. I couldn't finish my broth. I did't find myself seeking out the mushrooms, even. They were weirdly sweet (maybe marinated in mirin) and the whole palate of the dish was unpleasant. The only bright spot was the soft-boiled egg. read more

The spicy miso ramen was delicious!! Service was great too. It's a laid back atmosphere. Recommend!

Well, I tried to give these guys one last chance to win back my business. I'm currently disabled and can't drive so delivery is a real treat. I ordered delivery an hour before they closed, and 1/2 before yelp says they stop taking delivery orders. The delivery is now 20 minutes late (over an hour since I ordered despite the fact I'm a little over a mile away), the restaurant doesn't answer their phone and they are now closed. Their table service isn't much better. When I was able to do dine in the last time I was there they took 15 minutes to bring us ramen and there were only 2 other patrons besides us. I think this will be another failed business in the village soon. Too bad. They had such potential, but customer service goes a long way. I think I just paid $30 for meal that will never be delivered. read more

We picked up take out after ordering online and I paid an extra $3.00 for pork Belly and when we got home I realized we didn't get pork belly. Super disappointed cause it was on my receipt and everything. Just make sure you review your order before walking out. And I tried calling them a few times and they didn't pick up. My wife and I tried this spot for the first time, and left very happy. We were greeted enthusiastically and seated right away. Water came instantly, and the carafe was refilled quickly. Staff were both friendly and professional. The menu is quite limited, but we found something to our liking. We both had the curry Ramen, which is one of the few without pork products, and we shared the tots. They were both fantastic, beautifully prepared and presented and absolutely delicious. The ambience is minimalist, new, and very clean. The prices are nice round numbers, and you can pay with Mobile Toast from your phone. We'll definitely be back. read more

So excited to have this close to my neighborhood! Really great option for food/takeout to bring over to level beer (or eat in). I haven't tried the ramen yet, but this has been my go to spot lately for poke. Their poke bowls and poke nachos were both great, and their seasonal menu items have all been really good. Excited to have Fat Kitty in MV! read more

Fat Kitty is the kind of neighborhood ramen spot that immediately earns its keep. I can walk there, grab a cold beer, and be slurping noodles in no time -- which honestly feels like a lifestyle upgrade. The tonkotsu ramen is rich, comforting, and exactly what you want when you sit down. Bonus points for letting you add extra noodles, because sometimes the bowl should match your mood. The spicy garlic edamame is borderline addictive and should be ordered every single time without discussion. And on days when hot soup isn't the move, the poke bowl comes in clutch as a lighter but still very satisfying option. Great location, easygoing vibe, solid food, and cold beer -- Fat Kitty understands the assignment and executes it well. Very glad this one lives in the neighborhood. read more

I wish i was better. One cook was wearing a tank top and another a t-shirt. Nobody had their hair tied back or hair nets. It just felt a bit icky and was way too expensive for lukewarm, so-so food. read more

Super friendly and attentive service! Very chill atmosphere, great for a date or quick family outing. Food was super satisfying, potstickers were on the salty side though. The spicy red miso pork bowl was great, with a half-spicy option available. Would come back! read more

Overall the chicken teriyaki bowl is good but tonight was a exception. I order it all greens. Tonight there was a meager portion of greens. I hope the owners read their Yelp reviews. If this doesn't change I'm done. read more

Left after being served sudsy water. The water smelled like bleach and the pitcher had visible floaters and soap bubbles. Also seemed horribly understaffed. Won't be coming back as I can only assume the food would be cooked in soapy dishes too. If they added more waitstaff they would probably have more time to pay attention to the little details! read more

Came here for an early dinner on a rainy cold day. We tried an assortment of dishes. The potstickers were the best we've ever had. The spicy red miso was just ok - it's super spicy (I wouldn't want it any hotter!), doesn't have seaweed, and the meat isn't chashu like most ramen but is pork belly so very fatty. The tonkatsu was just ok - not as much flavors going on, and again, lots of fat (I'm just not into that but get that lots of people enjoy it). Servers were friendly and attentive, bringing lots of water over the course of our meal. All in all, it was just ok for us. read more

The information here is incorrect. It is open today right now. I just got it at 11:30. So yummy so excited for this place ! I got the spicy pork one and it was beautiful and delicious !! Thank goodness Multnomah Village needed a Ramen spot!! DELISH! read more

Service was really good. Loved the tatertots. The ramen was mid though. Me personally the chasu was more like a ham rather than traditional chsshu and the broth was more on the saltier side. Great ambiance though and cute decorations. read more

Service was wonderful. Food felt very whitewashed. We got the poke bowl, fine. The vegetable curry ramen, it was mainly frozen corn for veggies, the noodles seemed undercooked, overall really boring and not even piping hot the way ramen should be. Also got the spicy red miso ramen and it just tasted so much of the pickled mushrooms, it was pretty gnarly. If you want a good ramen, I would not recommend this place. read more

Had the very best Tonkotsu shio. The broth and noodle were over the top on flavor. Don't miss the Cucumber salad was a great addition. Excellent friendly atmosphere and all 6 of us left with happy tummies. Absolutely a ten rating. Plus the area with unique shops in Multnomah Village . read more

Love the location, was very excited to try the ramen. Service was great, everyone was super friendly. The tots were yummy and our ramen was decent besides the fact that our broth was barely even warm. This was pretty disappointing, despite enjoying the ramen toppings and noodles. Service was great. Everyone was very friendly and food came out quick. We got the spicy red and vegetable curry. Tasty, but very mid for the $50 bill. High fat broth, Pork was more like chopped up honey ham, and my egg was absolutely raw. Biggest complaint is the high price for a ramen that seemed to cut many corners in quality. read more

Good addition to the food scene in Multnomah village. The mushroom ramen was especially delicious.

Excellent food. We loved the ramen in particular. The service was also good. It was great for our whole family.

The Ramen is very good. It's expensive so I won't eat there as much as I might. At 17 bucks per bowl, at least it's good.

Incredibly wonderful service! Fantastic edamame and delicious pot stickers and dipping sauce. Our only complaint was the ramen was insanely salty. Between our family members we ordered three different kinds, all of them were too salty, and even the salt fiends in our group found the broth to be too salty. If the salt was dialed down a few notches we would absolutely eat here regularly. read more

Hey, we were so excited to find the OG okonomiyaki tots (and, of course, some great ramen), and we tried to stop in this evening in Multnomah Village. We walked into a 65% empty restaurant and were told (with a bit of an eyeroll, it seemed) that it would be over an hour wait because there were over 100 takeout orders in queue. Seems like a poor business model--if you want to be a ghost kitchen, be a ghost kitchen, but don't be a full service restaurant that isn't interested in actual sit-down customers. We walked away wanting not so much to come back sometime, but to make a grocery list for an Uwajimaya run to make our own damn okonomiyaki tots. Boxer Ramen was not like that, you walked in, ordered, and like magic there would be a table around the time your food was ready, like some other great iconic casual restaurants in Portland that are still successful on that model today (and that get our business embarrassingly often). I was terribly disappointed to be treated like wanting to eat your food was a ridiculous pursuit not worth your time because I actually wanted the experience of eating the food fresh and hot in a restaurant rather than lukewarm out of plastic while I watched TV. read more
