Not the best pizza in the world, but Fat Badgers is everything you want out of a pizza / bar spot. Our pizza came out very quick and prices were pretty reasonable. We just got the normal margherita, and while the sauce and dough were average the cheese blend surprised us on how good it was!

We were looking for lunch and found this place online here. Being a proud Wisconsin Native I of course had to check it out. It's a small spot with a great selection of pizza, 1 salad and beer and soft drinks. We ended up ordering the Badger Italian pizza with great spicy pepperoni and a second pepperoni-like sausage (plus mushrooms but we left those off). There are two sizes, 12" and 20". We had 12" and the salad (minus the feta and olives) and it was just enough for two. The have both indoor and outside tables in a shaded and breezy alley. Place your order at the bar and pay, then they bring your food out to you to enjoy. Service was good and friendly and we really liked the food, thin crisp pizza with just the proper amount of stuff and fresh tasty salad. Price was good to, about NZ$40 for lunch. Recommended

First of all, I have to say that the quality of the pizzas here completely exceeded my expectations. On top of that, the variety of toppings available to choose from and the variety of suggested configurations is pretty amazing as well. Yes, the pizzas can be big. But you can also order 12-inch versions for $16 with all of the toppings of the bigger pies. This is pretty helpful for two people who can't agree on what they like! I chose an Italian Stallion (pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage) and added jalapeños for a nominal surcharge. My friend had a The Full English pizza, which had full English breakfast toppings on it. I was skeptical of that one, but man it was delicious! The staff was friendly and helpful, as well as efficient. We enjoyed the place so much we came back a second time with our limited time in Queenstown. If I'm ever back to Queenstown, this is the first restaurant I'll be back to!

Great little place in the heart of Queenstown! Busy and don't take bookings but no need to wait long! Order the poutine it is A M A Z I N G!!! They have 20" Pizzas omg so ridiculous and so delicious - chilli flakes to shake on the table, I love that! All pizza places need chilli on the table it's a no brainer! Prices are good, if I was in QT longer I would 100% come back!

Pepperoni pizza by the slice (5nzd)

Nice little spot to sit and people watch at the top of the mall. I ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza and the poutine, along with a ginger ale to drink. The total was around 33nzd. The pizza was good, but nothing extraordinary. The crust was thin and had a nice chew to it, which I think is appropriate. There was good coverage on the slice with pepperoni, so nothing to complain about on the toppings. Based on their website, I had been expecting a specific specialty pizza to be available by the slice, but when I went to the bar to order, I was told that a different specialty pizza was available, along with the pepperoni and margarita. The available specialty did not appeal to me so I went with the pepperoni. So, I would suggest if you are planning to buy a slice to be flexible. Their listing of what is available each day on the website may not be accurate. The poutine was ok. Not really a true poutine, as they used shredded mozzarella as the cheese rather than fresh curd. The fries were your average restaurant quality frozen potatoes. The gravy was good, and there was plenty of gravy and cheese in the dish- this wasn't a token topping that only covered the top layer of fries. Only major complaint would be that the whole affair was kinda salty, probably driven by the gravy. There are some nice tables outside the restaurant under a covered breezeway, with lots of foot traffic making this an ideal place to have a meal and people watch.

It's always amazing to me that no matter what the taste of it, the scent of pizza wafting through the air always makes me ravenous...! Fat Badgers satiated that hunger! We started with a couple of Monteith's Porters ($14 ea.). Rather than two small pizzas, we went with the half-half large Badger: On one side, the Greek; the other side, Atomic. If you're in a rush, better just go with the single slice; otherwise, the pace was leisurely. That said, once the pie arrived, my goodness, it looked amazing! The thing was HUGE (20" radius)! Naturally, the Greek side came with sliced lamb. Normally, I'm NOT a lamb kinda guy; but, this half was very savory and satisfying. The Atomic side hit the right spice level for me. OMG, we were completely stuffed! And ... we had a good five slices left over for breakfast pizza...!!! After one visit, I'd say we are all fans of Fat Badgers.... :D

A lively bar serving 12'inch and 20'inch pizzas, bowls of beer and sides like poutine and gourmet hot wings. The music is rockin', the staff are super friendly and yes, some of their pizzas might be expensive, but they are oh so good. We loved the Mediterranean lamb pizza! They also brew their own beer, which is not half bad. I highly recommend also ordering a 'Badger Bowl' of beer for $12 and their poutine. One of my favourite restaurants in Queenstown!

The garlic fingers with cheese was one of the best I've had. The margarita could have done with better cheese.

So, we decided let's repeat the previous night's pizza & beer takeaway, dining on the waterfront. Previously, we tried Winnie's; enjoying three small pizzas varieties, packed with NZ signature toppings. This evening, on our way back to Winnie's, we passed by HELL pizza & decided to peruse the menu. Creative, flavorful sounding pies, we decided to switch things up & dine in HELL the appeal was the enhanced toppings- a lot of pies were similar to the favorites we had at the other pizzeria, but there were a few more toppings on each comparable pie in HELL (and not just the Gluttony pie haha), plus the ability to be a Creator! Drool! So we ordered a Lust Deluxe snack-size thin pulled & a Creator (smoked salmon, calamari, mussels, mushrooms, onions, prawns, extra mussels, lemon pepper sauce) Oh, I am glad I don't live in HELL; mainly because I would be eating non-stop. The toppings were delicious-hearty chunks, well-seasoned, unique flavor combinations. The crust wasn't anything special, it had a light buttery flaky undercooked dough taste- wish it was a bit more oven charred crispy, but it held all the toppings well, without being too soggy, falling apart. Overall, would recommend!

(well the regular menu isn't vegan, but they have a menu for vegans!!) This was epic because my boyfriend could get his meat pizza and I could order anything from this page-long menu made just for me! Another thing I loved about this place - the wine list comes along with a huge selections of vegan wines, marked with a little circled V in front of them. Pretty sure this is my new favorite place! I ordered a penne alla arrabbiata with a glass of *vegan* Italian Primitivo and holy f*ck was I happy when that baby was placed in front of me. Granted, I'd been traveling most of the day and hadn't had a proper meal, but I ate that penne so fast, my mouth was on fire from the chile. They even topped it with some bread crumbs instead of the parmesan that the non-vegan version comes with. Et viola! I was in vegan heaven. My boyfriend was happy with his pizza, and I was hoping to save room for dessert, but couldn't make it happen after that pasta. I did like that I left feeling full but not overly stuffed, but I was really hoping to order the vegan chocolate cake or the coconut panna cotta. I'm hoping to make it back here before leaving QT, if only for dessert!

Like everywhere in NZ, make reservations…read more I'm staying in Queenstown for a few days, and booked this reservation a few nights prior. The restaurant itself is long and narrow, so tables on one side and servers and the kitchen on the other. I ordered bruschetta for my starter & spaghetti bolognese for my main. The bruschetta came out with sliced prosciutto on top which I could have done without. I wished for more tomatoes, onion, and oil. The spaghetti bolognese was flavorful but just ok? Like, I'm not Italian but can make a better version of that at home. Although it's a simple dish, that probably not something you want to hear when you're selling it for $36 NZD. So the overall dining experience was a bit meh. I went to a pizzeria in Te Anau with better flavors. It might be a nice dinner date because the ambiance is lovely, if a bit loud. The service was fine, if a bit on the slow side.
