I never leave reviews, but as an out of towner who isn't local I want others in my position as a mother to know what you are dealing with. I came in requesting a simple strep test for my 3 year old. Instead, without a doctor seeing us first three other tests were run, one of which I was never notified about (RSV). The other tests cost $300. I had already spoken with my pediatrician who told us just get a strep test, I told this to the person taking the vitals before we saw a dr. They ran tests without my consent that cost hundreds of unnecessary dollars. This felt like they were just trying to run up whatever tests they could think of without communicating cost to me or need and ran a test they did not speak to me about beforehand to make money. The doctor was kind. Spent 60 seconds confirming my child has strep. Which I already knew from sending my doctor pictures and videos. This visit cost $500. The office manager was very difficult and refused to work with us or understand our side of the story and demanded payment immediately. This was the worst urgent care experience I've ever had. I know there is another urgent care in the area called Doctors Care - I should have gone there. Make sure you ask questions about the cost and what is truly necessary so they can't take advantage of you by making you pay for them for unnecessary tests. read more

Best urgent care in town. My son is under the care of a neurosurgeon who refused any kind of pain control while waiting weeks for potential surgery. I took him to Prisma ER. They did NOTHING. Dr Lecher gave him a couple IM injections along with medications to help with the pain in his neck. He is the only doctor that cared enough to help. I've come for myself or a family member 3 times since moving to Sumter. Every experience has been fabulous. The service is efficient and usually compassionate. The doctor and nurse practitioners I had were kind, thorough, and answered all my questions. My wait times have always been quite reasonable. If I could give less than a star I would. I am from a place where the drs care actually has compassionate employees ftom the receptionist to the dr. My 2nd experience with them is that they need to get a different job. You don't just turn someone away until you have all the information AND if you are sending them to the ER because you think they are seriously sick and need professional help how about calling ER and giving them a heads up? Geez people AND at least where I come from the drs care would call within 2 days to check on you, heck even my vet will do that for my dog. If you're sick take the 40 mins to drive to Florence by pass this place. I promise you'll get better care. read more

I've been here many times, for myself and my children. Until today, I never had a bad experience. But today, the Receptionist was rude from the moment I walked in, arguing about the requirements of my work physical, etc. It was clear that she had no interest in helping anyone, as she was also nasty and rude to others. Have always come to FastER Care since moving here 3 years ago for last minute needs. Stacy Merritt is great as is the male physician. But today, NP Freeman was so rude and in such a hurry. I've been here 3 times now since moving here for military reasons. I have to say the doctor I've had the past 2 times, Nicole, has been the sweetest and most caring doctor I've ever had!! They're always so busy here, but they always get you back as fast as they can. The nurses here are always great as well. This is a newer facility out near the big intersection of 441 (Declaration Bvld, where they're building all the new "Patriot" sub-divisions) and Loring Mill Rd. I took my daughter there yesterday to have her ear looked at for an ache with no signs of infection. It's a pretty good sized building (7,000sqft apparently) and very nice/clean looking without the dull gray sanitized feel. While the doctor appeared to be rushed (he came in, checked her ear, confirmed there was no infection, and prescribed some antibiotics all in a total of about 2.5 - 3 minutes. He was talking so fast I only caught half of what he was saying, and when he left my daughter started to cry because he was a little too rushed and hurt her ear with the scope thing), the rest of the staff was very friendly. Payment in full is due at the end of the visit; no payment plans. There is an initial fee of $85 to be seen but like I told my wife, that's almost worth the fact that I didn't have to go to the Tuomey ER and wait around with a bunch of crackheads and sickleys. My wife, who does her clinicals at Tuomey while she's in nursing school, says that it also would have cost more there. So it was a win-win for me. read more

I visited FastER Care yesterday for a wrist injury. I needed a place where I could get in and out, and that was still open after 5:00 pm, which as anyone who is local knows that is a challenge. One of my co-workers suggested FastER Care, as she has taken her children to this location multiple times and had great experiences. I was not disappointed! The front office staff was very friendly and helpful! The back office staff was a little short, but they were very quick, efficient, and ensured that my needs were met. They have successfully treated a variety of injuries and illnesses fast and with ease. Spot on diagnosis without the runaround you see so much in medicine these days. Donnie Freeman the nurse practitioner there is rude, unprofessional and unfriendly after waiting for more than an hour to be seen and then waiting for more that 30 mins in the room he comes in and spends 2 mins with my child. He did not give me a chance to ask questions on the medicine that he was prescribing he just runs out the room. I had to ask the nurse questions. The staff is rude that works up front at check in. They have the worst attitude. Do not go there if you care about your health. I will not be going back. read more

Approximately the same year this facility opened my daughter, who was almost 13, had to go there because after spending 10 days in the hospital after an emergency surgery, she had similar pain on a Saturday. She saw a physician there, Letcher or Fletcher, who, in spite of her age, decided the only way he could examine her was using an adult speculum. He hurt her so much! I wish now i had refused to allow the exam but at the time he said it was the only way to examine her based on the emergency surgery she recently had. NEVER will i go there again. Her pediatrician was furious and so was the gynecologist she was sent to afterward, when they learned of this exam. Very unprofessional and uncaring. I can only guess that he decided because she wore huge earrings and fitted jeans, she was lying when she said she had never had sex?! Maybe because she is biracial? I doubt we will ever know the truth of his reasoning. One thing is certain: i will never forget or go-there or recommend this place - and I have no idea if that Dr. still works there. read more

The Dr doesn't have the courtesy to return calls with any questions you may have after visit. They told me to come in for follow up test but then wouldn't give me results for 24-48 hours later but told my employer I was good to go back to work the day did test without having the results back. When I brought this to their attention they would not revise note. Tried to talk to Dr but he is too busy to return patients calls. I've never had a doctor refuse to return a call, it's poor practice. read more

I visited this facility this morning after my brother and I were playing golf and he began to have labored breathing and shortness of breath. So I rushed him to the nearest medical facility thinking that he would get the help he so obviously needed, but to my surprise he DID NOT. When we entered, the receptionist was very polite and helpful, but as I was filling out his paper work, his legs started to go numb. They called to next patient in line and I heard this nice lady tell the nurse that the gentleman could go ahead of her because his situation looked more serious than hers, and the nurse went ahead and put the lady in the room. So I went to the desk and asked what was the protocol with this situation. She told me that they were not an emergency room and that there were three patients ahead of him, so I immediately called 911 to get a ambulance there to transport him. I'm not a doctor or nurse, but one would think being in a medical facility, that SOMEONE could have come out to at least assess the situation and say we can't handle this patient. This patient is our Assitant Fire Chief of our fine city Fire Department, so I hope that if your building catches on fire that there isn't three trash fires AHEAD of you. Now, I'm not here to say that because he is the Assistant Fire Chief that he deserves special attention, but he was having trouble breathing and was experiencing numbness. read more

My son had an eye problem it swelled to the size of a golf ball. I took him to FastEr Care. I've taken him there before previously. The nurse and the receptionist were really nice, but I had a problem with the "doctor". She was in and out of there in less than a minute. I had no chance to ask her any questions, and she gave me no information about treatment aside from put some cream on it. She, only said bring him back if it's the same next week, without giving any advice. read more

I went to Fast ER care being new to Sumter and not having a doctor. The care was sure fast but it left me dissatisfied. Dr. Lecher was not honest with me during my visit about what he was testing me for, and therefore I was shocked when I picked up my lab results and found everything but what he told me he was doing! I then wrote a letter stating my concerns with my care and Dr. Lecher. He then wrote me back avoiding the issues I brought up, but still staking to his claim that he was honest and I got all the care I should have. I have been to FastER several times and have found them to be very thorough and professional. The doctor there is wonderful and checks out every possibility before prescribing any medication. I called to see if I could come in after work. The receptionist Liz advised me they stop seeing patients at 6:30pm. The website clearly states something different. Then she asks me what I need to be seen for. I informed her and she placed me on hold for 20 minutes or so. She didn't come back to check on me at all. Eventually, I hung on and called back. I asked was I speaking to the same lady that put me on the long hold and she confirmed I was. She stated that they just had an emergency. She apologizes and proceeds to say, so what did I need to check on for you. WOW THAT DIDNT JUST HAPPEN! ILL PASS ON THIS SERVICE. I haven't even made it to the facility door and was turned around my unprofessionalism. Oh, did I mention she hung up on me as soon as I mentioned coming on here and expressing myself. It's one thing about working for an Customer Service Executive Office for a well-known Co. You can spot the ones that need to go back to training.
