Went in to see how much he charged for a renewal of the registration. In the past i've paid around $25 in other locations. He quoted me $100. lmfao. Found a kiosk by my house and paid $0 in extra fees. You have to be a complete imbecile to think that $100 fee to renew your tags in any way seems fair. Just with that I knew he lacked integrity. My one and only time here. I don't mind paying for convenience, but $100?! He must be hurting for business or he is just a complete imbecile. Don't believe me go in for yourself and see. read more

TLDR: go here, the bad reviews are fake and Robert is nice and had my tags ready within a week honestly, i think the negative reviews for this place either come from other businesses trying to discredit Robert or ignorant people who live in DTLA that don't know how vehicle registration works. in my experience, Robert was very sociable, honest and up front during my registration process. a disgruntled person even came in and tried to tell me to take my business elsewhere, then proceed to berate Robert and say he's a scammer. the persons Australian accent kinda gave me the inclination that he had just moved to LA and gotten a car and was unfamiliar with how the process works. i asked Robert and he explained that the man didn't get he has to pay not only for the new registration, but also transferring the title and fees. with my classic car, he had to inspect the panels for vin matching and helped my sort out my confusing paperwork from transferring the title as well. i'm not sure how you could accuse him of "finessing" or upcharging you when you can see how much it costs to register your vehicle when you get your paperwork from the DMV and he explains many times what you're being charged for each step of the process and how it's calculated. most people just don't understand that and also he's sadly the most convenient spot in DTLA so he gets all the tweakers and the out of towners- as you can tell by the reviews. he had my new tags ready in 4 days and the fee for his services were very minimal considering the time and effort you save from going to the DMV. i will be coming here everytime and always recommending Robert, he's very kind and i consider him a friend as well- not the mention his location feels very homey read more

I visited this place for my car registration a while ago. I had moved from another state, so wanted to have the process smooth and easy, which was a big mistake. Robert charged me $750 (and not by credit card, but with Zhelle) and said the process is done. He changed the plate. I sent the registration to bank to refinance my car, and they told me something is wrong. I took it to DMV, and they said the whole proceed has been done incorrectly. After I called Robert, he said those are "dumb" people and wanted me to take my car to him again. I contacted Sacramento office (which he sent the documents to) and they also said the process wrong. He had charged us MORE THAN TWICE, and finally we went back to DMV to get another plate number and registration. Working with him was a waste of money and time to me. Beware this guy Robert is a crook. He tried to charge me a $250 dmv late fee although the plates were paid on time. He couldn't give me a good explanation why I was going to have to paid those fees. I ended going to another place and they charged me $40 to renew my vehicle in comparison to the $250 Robert was trying to charge me. He's a one man operation although sometimes he may have his wife helping. He never provides detailed receipts and highly discourages credit card transactions. I've done several transactions with this guy and yes he'll talk to you all sweet and butter you up like he's your best friend but rest assured he's not looking into your best interest, he's looking into his best interest. During these transactions I also noted that his prices were going up and always have a BS reason why he couldn't provide you with a receipt because his system was down or he was out of ink. I'll be reporting this guy to the DMV and the BBB. read more

Don't go to DMV, check this place out!!! I took my Motorcycle there for an issue that I have with the title. Robert helped me previously over the phone and asked me to bring it in for inspection and it took him almost 15 minutes to check everything and fill all the paper work for me ( not like dmv that you need to wait at least an hour for inspector and fill everything out yourself always). Prices are almost the same as DMV, and He told me they are capable of doing anything that DMV can do at their office. Definitely it will be my to go place if I need any DMV work from now on. While being away from California during covid my vehicle registration expired and I was unable to renew online. It was impossible to get an appointment at the DMV. The DTLA DMV were the worst as I stood in line after 12 hours on duty as the hospital only to be told " you need an appointment for car registration " and when I said " I need my car to get to work!" I felt it so weird and then asked for the payment list, he refused at beginning and tried to change the topic, but I asked again and again, then he showed me the screen and not allow me to take a pic or write it down(how wired?!), he said these are the fees that all different departments I wouldn't wanna check one by one are collecting. Likely story, I ended up paying it. After getting out of the store I asked my friend and looked up online how much would transferring a car title charge, then I realized I was totally deceived! I recently moved from out of state to California with a leased vehicle. After the headache that it was waiting in line to get my California driver's license I preferred to go elsewhere for my car registration. After getting my smog check nearby, they referred me here. I came in on a Wednesday at around 11AM and there was only one person ahead of me that took a few minutes. Robert was very quick and efficient. He walked me through filling out the forms and did the vehicle inspection in a snap. He called me at 7:30 PM the same day stating that my plates were ready- when I arrived, he gave me the paperwork and even changed the plates for me! I see other reviews mentioning that there is a service fee - Robert literally saved me several hours and a headache that I would've had from going to the DMV again. Would highly recommend! read more

BEWARE, they will take your money, not know what they are doing, and mess up your registration. I went in here and immediately told the gentlemen running the location that I had an electric Moped and needed to get it registered. I presented the official certificate of sale from the manufacturer which shows "MOPED" as the body type. I showed the gentlemen the DMV website showing the classifications and that it is a Moped by DMV classifications. I repeatedly said that "this has to be classified as a moped which should be a one-time fee of $23". He came back and said it was $200+ in registration fees and $150 for his fee. I kept saying it had to be classified as a moped and he insisted he was doing it the right way. He classified it as "other motorcycles". I kept expressing concern with this. He said the DMV will review and put it in the correct category. He was wrong. I later found out that there was a simple "Moped application", that needed to be submitted with the documents. He was not aware of this and did not submit this form. He claimed to have 12 years experience and knew what he was doing, yet he wasn't aware of a moped application. I paid cash for all the DMV fees, and half of his $150 fees up front and was going to pay half upon picking up the plates. He was aware that he screwed up on my application yet still wouldn't release the plates to me unless I paid the other half. I told him I was happy to pay as soon as he corrected his error. He decided to keep my registration, and my fees, even though he did it all wrong. The moped is now registered as a motorcycle, which requires a different drivers license, M1, $200+ registration every year, and motorcycle insurance (very expensive), due to his mistake. I should have paid $23, one-time. He still feels he deserves full payment for making a mistake that will cost me a fortune and may not be repairable. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES. Now I have to go through the legal channels to get this resolved and refunded. Not fun. As an additional side note, it took 2.5 hours when I was there to file the wrong paperwork. Rude service as well. read more
