A delightful 4 star camp site. I've stayed here a couple of times, and I'd highly recommend it. The location is perfectit's within a quiet setting, but not too far from the loch (complete with boats for hire), lots of walks, and relatively close to the centre of Pitlochry.
The site itself is a fair size, but I've never found this to be a problem. The staff are friendly, pitches are generous (which is ideal if you're a luxury camper with a gigantic tent as I amsome camp sites put limits on tent sizes which means I can't take my big tent. Not a problem at Faskally however), and the facilities are excellent. The toilet and shower block is always clean - very important, especially if you're a girl and like your home comforts. The showers are hot (and free) and there are wall mounted hair dryers that can be utilised for free also.
There is a small shop on sitegreat for your basic needs. And they were decent enough to let me re-charge my air bed inflator in the shop when it died on me whilst trying to blow my bed up when I first arrived. That could very well have been a tragedyunless the shop had been so amenable! Ahem.
A bar (also a prerequisite when I'm looking for camp sites) is available on site, with an outdoor beer garden to enjoy the summer weather (if we're lucky enough to get it). And there's also a games room inside filled with arcade type machines and the like.
There's also a children's play park on site which keeps the kids out of your hair for a little while too!
The swimming poolwell, while there is oneI didn't rate the changing facilities much. They were a bit grubby. However the swimming pool area itself all looked pretty new. Just blinker yourself as you're getting into your swimming cossie until you finally hit the pool! This doesn't affect my perception of the site however, as all of the other facilities are excellent. And most sites don't even have a swimming pool anyway, so it's a bonus regardless.
I have very fond memories of this camp site, and no doubt I'll be back later this year too. The first time I went, we found ourselves drinking wine with our 'neighbours' and participating in an impromptu sports night with folk from the other tentswatching the children and adults alike running the three-legged race. Much hilarity ensued! This camp site just has a genuinely good 'vibe' about it. read more
