It's so homey, comforting, and delicious. The decor is so cute! The owners are wonderful people and put so much love into this place. You need to check it out! My dad got the cinnamon roll French toast but ate it too fast before I could get a picture. It is very busy on Sundays when we went and I'd assume most days, so we gave them a little patience and they were working as fast as they could. All of our meals came out hot, fresh and quickly. This place is a must try and we will definitely be back!

Just a small town breakfast only place. I have driven past this place for the last 5yrs and said "one of these days". Well one of these days finally got here and I don't know what took me so long. We stopped in after coming home from a trip and wanted something to eat and had breakfast. I need to go back and try many more items on the menu. Today was the 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy which was more than enough for 1 person. Don't shy away from the small paces, they are a diamond in the rough.

This place is as small town America as it gets.  The Decore is that of an actual small town Resturant, not the fax stuff you find in the suburbs.  The way I discern is that there are things of varing age. While the Resturant was only here for 5 years in it current iteration the building is much older.  The Decore is very attractive. There is a classic counter for singles, 8 table tops and 8 booths.  This local place is family owned and it is clear it is a mother and daughters working.  There is the warmth of a family place where people are taking pride in what they are doing. The good:  The staff was very welcoming and engaging.  They brightly started small talk and were very prompt on coffee refills.  The coffee was good. Even though there were only two staff they were clearly working hard to take care of the breakfast rush. I ordered the country platter which was a fresh made biscuit hash browns 2 eggs and sausage smothered in really eggcellent gravy.  The eggs were light and fluffy.  The hash browns were shoe string and cooked well. Everything was made to order.  It took ten minutes or so to get out, but to me that is way better that prepped line food. The bad The bathrooms only heated by a baseboard heater so a little chilly. The sausage links were meh.

    Breakfast.

Friendly people, but I'm absolutely positive I've never waited so long for an average breakfast. About an hour for eggs and bacon.

The staff was warm, friendly, and genuinely attentive -- even on a cold winter morning. That matters. A lot. You can tell they actually care about the people walking through the door and the food was amazing! Allen's has that true home-style, neighborhood diner feeling -- the kind you don't find very often anymore. And let me say this... I've lived in Pingree Grove for three years and somehow never knew this place existed. I've driven past it plenty of times -- blink and you'll miss it -- but now? It's officially one of my favorite local spots. Quick heads-up for first-timers: Bring cash. They're old-school -- and honestly, I respect that. I love supporting local restaurants and knowing more of my money is going directly to the people and the business -- not getting eaten up by unnecessary fees to big companies. Real food. Real people. Real community. This place is exactly what a local diner should be.

We got there at 7:00am on a Friday and we made it just in time, because by 7:30, every seat was taken... including at the counter. It's an intimate and cozy little place, warm and comfortable. The food was great, with huge portions. I got the Neighbor Benedict, which was a mountain of gravy on top of a biscuit, two sausage patties, and two poached eggs and it included a healthy portion of hash browns with onions. The only thing that was a slight bummer was that this place is cash only, and we didn't know that coming in. Thankfully there was an ATM inside, but the fees were high and my bank charges fees on the other side, so the reasonable prices turned out to be just as expensive as anywhere else. I will bring cash next time and upgrade this review to five stars.

The first time, my friend recommended Eggslusive and the second time, Yelp did. Anyway, service is quick and friendly, and prices are about what you'd expect for brunch unless you get an expensive special (which we did not ). I loved seeing items on the menu that I don't normally see on brunch menus like halal options, naan dishes, and Mediterranean meals, all of which I was tempted to get. I ended up getting the chicken tinga skillet and substituted to get something called simit as my side instead of toast. The waitress described it as kind of a pretzel bread, which I feel was accurate. Lots of sesame seeds, and it came with jam, which was delicious! The vibe is cozy and local, and come to find out that the business owner is Turkish, which we loved to know and support. I'm also not a bacon person, but I enjoyed the bacon here because I'm not a super super crispy bacon fan. The waitress was also super sweet and provided a coffee refill in a to-go cup for my husband to enjoy in the car on our way back towards Chicago. The only thing is that one of my poached eggs came out more hard boiled than runny, but everything else was great. If I could give 4.5 stars, I would. Note: we got one of 2 parking spaces left remaining, so know that parking can be a bit tight on weekend mornings.
