In those 8 years I have had 3 different dogs and all loved East Shore Park. My current dog thinks the park is all for him: he would go there multiple times a day if I let him, but we usually aim for once or twice a day at most. There are multiple areas to explore including tennis courts, a playground, several ball fields and overgrown bocce courts. Unfortunately the sewage treatment plant smell still lingers. Definitely a down fall to living in this neighborhood. But the water views and park itself can't be beat.

A lovely 1.2 mile out and back, revitalized old trolley track. Bird watchers are in for a special treat, kids delight as crabs scuttle by their feet. Parking has always been a breeze and the trail is flat, navigated with ease. Be sure to sit and take in the peace (save the hum of life that doesn't cease.)

Typically on hikes when you see a dog approaching you leash them immediately to pass. This isn't the case here. I only write this post to warn others.

On a windy, rather cold afternoon for early September, we visited Pardee Seawall Park. Although the…read morewind made us pull at our coats, the scenery more than made up for it. The park, which stretches along Morris Cove, provides a broad view of Long Island Sound and New Haven Harbor with a horizon that suggests, "Just enjoy it." Wide and easily accessible, the paved promenade is lined with benches that appear to be in the ideal location for seeing the tide as it rolls in or spotting aircraft from the adjacent airport. Despite the lack of food sellers and facilities, the area is spacious, tidy, and incredibly tranquil. We parked on a side street, not long enough for anyone to care. We stumbled upon Branford Point after seeing tons of private beach roads nearby and a quick Google search for a public Branford beach. There were at least a dozen fishermen here near the parking area. There is a small strip of a sandy beach with an actual lifeguard. Also, there is a playground/park with picnic tables. Next time we come back, we'll be more prepared to go on the sand and pack a lunch to stay longer!

The amount of time seemed just right to explore this city of Branford park, on my way in to New Haven, and I am glad I did. Branford Point park is small but packed with memorable features. From the boat launch, which is surrounded by water on 3 sides, to the beach, backed by a grassy, tree-lined hill, there is much beauty to absorb from this point. Parking was possible, but limited: I imagine in the summer high season that it becomes difficult for anybody that lives outside Branford to visit. Though it may be small and packed, the challenge in this case would be worth the breeze from Long Island Sound, the sights of nearby Thimble Islands, and the peaceful vibes I found at Branford Point.

$30? Are you insane?…read more 9am on a holiday weekend and the parking lot was empty. We just wanted to see the lighthouse but there is no dang way that I'm paying that much. Or even half that much. For ten minutes or ten hours, that's a crazy fee. The only positive is that the dude in the payment booth was nice about it. On to the next!

Watching the boats and seeing the cityscapes--both a site. Very clean and people were generally friendly. The restrooms were a contention because apparently we could not use the women's restroom as it was reserved for wedding.... Used the one suggested and it was dirty with an odor of urine. Overall the visit was priceless and why, because I was spending time with my son and husband. #yaleparentweekend2025
