This is a classic country diner and it has a great sentimental design and feeling when you walk inside. I've been doing some work in Morgantown and this place is very convenient to stop by and get lunch for everyone to take back to the site. The food tastes very good- I've had the bacon cheeseburger, curly fries, and sweet potato fries. All were great! I will say, if you have a sensitive tummy, beware. I've had a slight stomachache both times I went by (and others in my crew did too) so just know that the grease and fried-ness may cause a little discomfort. But if it tastes good, it's worth it, right? The bathrooms were very clean and the employees were very kind and helpful in getting our carry-out order fulfilled. I'll probably be back because it's convenient for work but also I want to try some of their desserts (they have lots of pies) and a milkshake! read more

It is still 5 stars here. They have been here as long as I can remember, opening early at 5AM for breakfast, and close at 9PM. Although there is a huge selection of items on the menu I always seem to get the large catfish dinner that comes with two sides. The fish is cooked fresh and the large serving size fills you up. I can say the brown beans and corn bread are a good choice for a side. read more

Farm boy is the classic country and comfort food establishment. It's like a mom and pop cracker Barrell. They have a super homely feel and decorations with super nice staff that make you feel like a member of the family. Their menu has pretty much anything you could want from soup to salads to burgers to breakfast food. Portions are huge for the price, and the country boy burger is an especially good deal (and delicious!). read more

I like eating at the Farm Boy when I come to Morgantown to visit my mother in-law on a visit. The old fashioned town diner opens early for breakfast 5 am and closes late for dinner. I have eaten here many times and it is always fresh and delicious and on Friday evenings they serve really great catfish. Everything I have eaten here is always fresh and tasty. The cheeseburger and fries is a great lunch selection. The inside of the restaurant is nothing fancy but always clean and nice. A great small town jewel! read more

I find that happens more frequently in smaller towns--in this case: Whitesville, KY! A colleague and I left a meeting for work in the area, and we had about an hour to get to our next stop. We both enjoy local finds, so I asked if there was anything in Whitesville, as she is a native of the area. Her first reaction was to laugh. Then, she recalled Kelly Rae's. I whipped the car around and pulled in. When we walked in, time seemed to stop. We were first-timers, and most everyone else there seemed to be regulars. No employees were up front, so after awkwardly standing for a moment, we decided it was okay to have a seat. Shortly thereafter, a server brought us menus and took our drink orders. The restaurant itself isn't huge, but there is plenty of space. It is truly a diner--with breakfast selections and lunch options. Dinner is on Friday and Saturdays only, with special written on a chalkboard. (Frog legs were highlighted on my trip here.) I opted for a BLT and fried pickles. I was impressed with both. I wasn't given choices for bread; it was served on white. The bacon was cooked extremely well; I was impressed. I'm also a fried pickle snob. There were LOTS of them on my plate, and they were also good! Fried pickles are one of my favorite foods, and these met my high expectations. There aren't many healthy options (lots of greasy, fried foods here), and service is a little slow--you are living in the country after all. However, prices are SUPER inexpensive, and the food is good!!! It's a shame this wasn't on Yelp before for others to find, but I hope this will bring in a few new folks. Just expect to get a few looks. ;)

The spinach and artichoke dip was pretty good too. I had the Thai Pasta Salad with added grilled shrimp as my entrée. I can't say I've seen pasta salad on many menus, especially as an entrée. It was interesting but I felt like it was super salty, and the same with the added shrimp. I didn't have anything to drink, but the happy hour drink prices are pretty good and they have specialty cocktails. My coworkers and I agreed that we felt like the food was too salty and heavy, and that was our biggest gripe. I'd still come back to drink or watch a game on the many TVs here.
