They also have an 80-ton train engine, caboose, pullman carriage and train snownplow in their train shed. It's a bit dark in there but absolutely worth a visit. You can walk through the caboose and the pullman. The airplane display also includes an ambulance and a snow vehicle. The helicopter is retired from service in Vietnam. You can walk through the C-47. Gliders, bi-plane, jet. It's a really good collection. Then you have the antique car cillection, agricultural machine collection, Telephone museum, and on and on. So much history in one place. There are picnic tables on site under full sun. Do be sure to bring water and wear sunscreen and a hat in summer as you will be walking between buildings. Public restrooms are in the main building and the church basement. The gift shop sells soda and water aside from toys and gifts, etc. Private parking lot. They have a variety of discounted entries so check out their website for information and add this to your list of places to visit.

What is there to do in Fargo ND? Not much...but highly recommend checking out this spot…read more The team working there did a great job putting this place together. Lots of history in one spot. It's pretty neat to see the evolution of farming equipment and the homes the folks back then lived in.

"I think I'm goin' back To the things I learned so well in…read moremy youth But thinking young and growing older is no sin And I can play the game of life to win" (The Byrds) Two weeks ago, I wrote that Muhammad Ali was a childhood idol of mine when I landed in and wrote about the Muhammad Ali International Airport in Louisville. Roger Maris was another childhood idol of mine, and today I visited a museum dedicated to his memory in his hometown of Fargo, North Dakota. Who was Roger Maris? If you grew up in New York City in the 1960's (like I did), or if you are a baseball fan, you would surely be familiar with the legendary New York Yankee outfielder. Decades before steroids and PED's polluted the baseball record books, Roger surpassed Babe Ruth's 60 home runs and smacked 61 in 1961, setting a new single season record. He, and those legendary Yankee teams of the 60's were all childhood heroes of mine. What a beautiful nostalgic visit I had revisiting my memories of the 1961 season - looking at the photos, newspaper headlines, seeing his 1961 baseball card, seeing his Yankee Stadium plaque from Memorial Park, listening to Howard Cosell's eulogy, and sitting in real Yankee Stadium chairs watching a highlight film were fantastic.

Accessible whenever the mall is open and it's completely free. Who doesn't know the story of Roger…read moreMaris, who broke Babe Ruth's home run record in 1961? This museum is on one of the hallways in the West Acres Mall and includes a small seating area (with baseball stadium seats from Yankee Stadium) and a looped video. Maris a native of Hibbing Minnesota, was all class and only agreed to have this museum available if there was no charge as he did not feel it was right to capitalize on his success. So this was built in 1984 and remodeled in 2003. Viewing the memorabilia and watching the films is perhaps a half hour. Worth checking it out for any baseball fan.
