I really liked this hotel but I unfortunately had to mark it down by (1) star for a couple simple/stupid reasons. Get to that a little later. As I rate the staff, especially at the restaurant and bar/lounge are all great people. Many of them I visited with are also university students and very outgoing. When you arrive your first challenge will be pulling open the main entrance doors. They are not on automated openers and "breaking" the air lock takes a very heavy and forceful pull. I watched a couple people actually give up and move aside for others to open. Then when you gain access you will be treated by the dining reception podium/desk which for me and my colleagues found confusing. Okay. The issues. First, and something everyone in my profession group of mostly architects complained to one another that there is almost NO PLACE to put clothing away in your room. It's almost insane. I have folded clothes laying about the room as there are no real dresser drawers. Bad design concept for sure. Also, and this was just an error but I requested housekeeping each of my days and they didn't show up the first full day and I confirmed with the delightful front desk person that I had requested it and they had it documented. The lack of storage is, in my opinion a larger more constant issue. The food in the restaurant is really good and portion sizes are very reasonable. The make really good smoked old fashions in the bar but I need to caution you that there "typical" poor is a premixed blend, that for me was WAY too sweet. So after the first of 3 I asked that they self construct my next few drinks and they were very good. I would definitely come back as the place has personality and is located in a central downtown spot but the storage thing will continue to drive me nuts. read more

When we travel to or through Fargo, we like to stay downtown due to all of the walkable restaurants, bars, and attractions. We typically stay at the Radisson Blu, but chose to stay here at the Jasper Hotel for the first time because of a promotional Black Friday rate that made it significantly cheaper. The room we got was a bit smaller than we're used to - approximately 350sqft, but was adequate for our needs. It was really cool being up on the 14th floor in a place like Fargo, because we could see well across the state out our window when we got in. The next morning, we awoke in a cloud because of the snow storm that blew in. The window glass is actually curved around the corner, so you have a really neat, minimally obstructed view. The blinds and shades are electrically controlled from a switch on the wall. Bed was comfortable and spacious. Shower had a nice tiled floor and glass door with good water pressure. I personally wish they would have softened the water, though - the hard water left my hair feeling like it needed a rinse all day. The hotel feels new (because it is, relatively). Everything was clean and modern. The lobby also has a restaurant and bar in it called Rosewild. While we didn't partake, it seemed like hotel guests and non-hotel guests were both enjoying it alike, which is not common for a hotel restaurant. Check-in was scheduled for 3pm. We arrived at 3:30pm and were disappointed to hear that our room was not going to be ready until 4pm, and that we should just hang out in the lobby. Rather than notifying us when ready, we had to go back to the desk to alert the staff that we still needed to check in. Lastly - the parking ramp that they recommend is more expensive than another nearby public parking ramp. The only advantage to the one they recommend is that they can validate your parking so that you only pay $10 for the day with unlimited in and out access to the ramp. read more

Beautiful hotel, centrally located in downtown Fargo. There is a parking garage attached to the building. It is free to park in on the weekend. Walking into the lobby it is mainly the hotel restaurant. There is a small reservation desk to check in. The downstairs was lively on the weekend. Our room was clean and had nice decor details. There is an exercise room on the 5th floor. My biggest complaint is that this is a mixed used facility. Not only a hotel but a restaurant, business, and conference rooms are all interconnected. They had several weddings and other events going on in the conference rooms. They are located on the same floor as the exercise and sauna room. Even in the morning there was a breakfast meeting with people dressed up. So it would be nice if the hotel amenities were separated from more from the public space. Long-time business traveler. And we're no slouches when it comes to vacations, either. And let me say this right now. This is as close to perfection as a hotel gets. I'm not overstating things here. No, it's not adjacent to a Caribbean beach or in a cultural center such as Manhattan or Amsterdam. And, no, it's not luxe. But, damn, this hotel functions in every single way to keep the guest experience right up there. From the whisper-quiet hallways to the fantastic rooms to the splendid onsite bar, the very cool furnishings, and the telepathic staff, this is a hotel that knows what it's doing. In planning every single hotel, there is an ongoing battle between those who want to create a memorable guest experience and the accountant who wants to cut corners. And, for once, it appears the hotelier won out. From little things such as generous towels to the room's square footage to just about every other aspect, a restful and understated aesthetic permeates every inch of this place. Now, this is the point where I'm supposed to nitpick something to give my review some credibility. Okay, here goes: At the coffee station in the lobby, invest in some cardboard trays so I don't have to juggle the steaming cups of joe when I return to the room. Doing so would make it much easier to open my door. Attend to that trivial thing, and you guys would be aces in my book. I don't know when we'll visit Fargo next. I chose wisely with Jasper Hotel. I booked a flight, hotel and rental car as a package through Expedia. Expedia offered Jasper Hotel as an option. There were other hotels I considered but decided to land on Jasper. Again, wise decision! I like that hotel staff called me after check-in time to see if I still planned on checking in to the hotel on that day. I felt that was courteous. The gentleman who checked me in could have been more engaging and personable. He did not tell me where anything was at. I had to figure this out on my own. He asked for my credit card, of course. He could have asked if I had any questions or if I needed direction to get to my room. He also didn't tell me that there is complimentary coffee in the morning. I understand that this is explained with all the e-literature that Jasper sends you. However, management please train your hotel staff with better customer service. Interestingly, another hotel patron pointed out the lack of customer service from that same gentleman. I would've loved to give Jasper 5 stars but lack of customer service prevented that. The hotel itself was beautiful! Heads up that you will need to park in the bank parking lot next door. There is a fee if you go in and out of the parking garage all day. That surprised me a bit. Luckily, I was away from the hotel all day. The parking garage is FREE from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM every day. On one of the days I stayed at Jasper, I left a little later than expected (about 10:00 AM) and was charged $5 for the parking fee. The gentleman who checked me in mentioned that the hotel could validate the parking fee with proof of the ticket but he didn't present that in a confident way. More like it was a "possibility." I absolutely adored my room. I stayed in a King Suite on the 9th floor. I had a marvelous view of downtown Fargo. The room has a fridge but no microwave to heat up beverages or food. I loved the Nestle coffee maker in the room. I enjoyed some cups of coffee in the room. They also offer alcoholic beverages, non-alcoholic beverages and snacks for purchase in the room. Read the price list and do not assume that these items are complimentary. I enjoyed using the bath robes hanging in the closet. The shower was wonderful to use. It's huge! As usual, my time at Jasper went by in a flash. Time truly flies by when you're having fun. I would definitely stay at Jasper again. Also, they had a wedding party at the hotel during my stay. It wasn't that loud from the wedding party and the guests seemed to not be rowdy or cause trouble. I very much enjoyed that people were enjoying their self at a major life celebration without behaving like fools. I recommend staying at Jasper Hotel if you're ever in Fargo. I also forgot to mention that the hotel restaurant, Rosewild, is a wonderful dining experience. I had breakfast twice and dinner once at Rosewild. Both meals were fantastic! I very much enjoyed breakfast. It was great to have breakfast with the complimentary coffee nearby. I feel that the coffee was fantastic! I wasn't that impressed with the coffee in Fargo but Jasper nailed it with choice of coffee. Enjoy your visit, take advantage of all the amenities the hotel offers and dine at Rosewild! Do not bring your bathing suit because the hotel doesn't have a swimming pool. Something to think about if you're deciding between Jasper and another hotel that has a swimming pool. I was SO excited to stay at this hotel! It's absolutely stunning but unfortunately I had one of the worst hotel experiences ever here at this hotel for a business trip. Jasper Hotel advertises itself ( falsely) on their website as pet friendly and are not. Then hits you with a massive "deep cleaning fee" after checking out after you already pay the $75 pet fee upon check in. What is the pet fee for then if it's not being used for cleaning and you're being billed $250+ after a stay? I have video evidence as well that my pet did zero damage to the room when I left. You can also see other reviews from pet owners on this too if you look at the reviews close enough for the hotel. On top of all of this, the staff and management are extremely rude. Save yourself the headache and stay somewhere else in Fargo, especially if you're traveling with your pet. The Radisson is also downtown and within walking distance to everything. I will continue to warn everyone I know traveling here to stay away unless they get new management. read more

I LOVED staying here! I didn't want to leave. It's centrally located on Broadway among plenty of restaurants, shops and bars. The decor and atmosphere inside is warm and cozy - and there seemed to always be people sitting at the bar, sitting in the comfy chairs. The room - I had a corner room with big floor to ceiling windows with the best view. The bed was extra comfortable and the room was a great size, especially since it was just me. The things that are great about this hotel - are really great! The lobby, the bar area, the friendly staff at the front desk, the views from the room. We had a spacious king room when in town for a recent family event. Sadly, our room was missing a few things. No shampoo, soap, etc. were in the room - fortunately there was a housekeeping cart nearby. My biggest wonder - no hooks or towel bars in the bathroom (which was luxuriously large) to hang a towel before or after a shower....odd I thought. Also, the toilet paper holder was mounted on the wall curiously low and close to the toilet bowl - like it was in the way of my knee...and I'm a short person with very short legs- I just laughed. Wow! What a great addition to downtown Fargo! I have been patiently waiting for The Jasper to open and they didn't disappoint, it is such a gorgeous space. The main lobby is beautiful with plenty of workspace that flows into the lobby bar and restaurant. By the way, the bar serves killer classic cocktails. The rooms are perfectly appointed . Bright and clean, great views,, awesome shower and products, and a great view. Did I mention the awesome staff? Truly the best! My car was broken into in the parking lot. My belongings were stolen including a LV purse. My car was also damaged, the hood of my car was broken and the latch was broken off. I called the front desk to report, I didn't get an apology or any remorse from the staff. They simply gave the number to the parking ramp and hung up. No apology no nothing. I was told the parking ramp was secured and there was a security guard present. The bathroom was not clean at all, there was debris and hair all over the floor. There was a dirty used contact lens on the floor. Then today, my card was charged 2x of $50 and $55. I will never ever stay at this hotel ever again. Also no microwave in the room or ice machine. I called to get ice I was told I had to come downstairs to get ice. For the price point of this hotel, the service sucks and it's filthy. I ate at the restaurant in the hotel called Roswell. It is advertised that there is a Michelin chef- there's not. It's horrible food, not worth the money and there is also no microwave in the room to use. This is not a luxury stay by any means, the service sucks and your car may be broken into. read more

I stayed in this hotel for three nights. The rooms are actually on floors 9 thru 14 of the building. Offices occupy floors 2 through 4. There is a workout gym on the 5th floor. The room was very nice. It was very comfortable. The staff is very friendly, and it has a great restaurant/bar. The following are the only reasons I couldn't give it 5 stars. 1) The rooms don't have a chest of drawers to put your clothes in. You literally have to live out of your suitcase. 2) While they have snacks and alcohol in the room, which are way overpriced, there is no coffee in the rooms. You have to go down to the 1st floor to get coffee. 3) Finally, the walls were thin enough that I could hear the TV in the room next to me. Fortunately, I sleep fairly soundly, so it didn't keep me from getting rest. However, for those sensitive to that, they would not enjoy being there. Overall, I do plan on staying there if I find myself in Fargo again. It's right downtown and there are plenty of places to go within walking distance. read more

Several months ago, there was a change in hotel & restaurant management, and since then the service has substantially plummeted. The staff used to be very authentically, professional, well trained, attentive to guests needs and delightful. The last five months there have been visible conflict between resturant, managers and wait staff in the restaurant, in front of guests. A waiter across the room, audibly being scolded. I asked our table's waiter if this occurrence was unusual, and sadly, he said with new management it's quite frequent. Recently ordering coffee at the bar one morning, I waited for 10 minutes before anyone even noticed and asked if I needed something. During that 10 minutes both the reception desk staff, and those at the bar made eye contact with me, not one of them acknowledged that I was waiting, at the register, to order. It's really quite embarrassing for what once was a very wonderfully run hotel, and restaurant. They also made changes to the lobby, removing bespoke lounge seating, that was very unique to the hotel, and replaced it with very typical bar seating. read more

This Property is a testimony to what is happening in Fargo. First the property is maintained to perfection. Being a northern town prone to cold weather and spring storms as well the under cover parking which is attached by a covered sky bridge is key, and well done as well. We drove from Chicago to Fargo in one day, so the Jasper was a welcomed treat. We had planned to dine at a local restaurant down town, but when I was waiting in the lobby area for my daughter, I spoke with one of the three hostesses who made a compelling case to dine in at the Rosewild restaurant off of the lobby. The vibe is fun, relaxing, and still manages that private feel as well. Our the menu had just been updated, as was the cocktail menu to include N/A cocktails as well. We both chose the Smashless, and were not disappointed. Next apps and dinner. I will come back to this review as we need to keep heading west this morning. read more

This is our second stay and it was very disappointing. Parking garage is extremely tight for anything bigger than a car. I was switched rooms because my first one smelled strongly of weed. The first room had a very dirty bathroom. The second room had a large wad of hair stuck to the wall. LARGE. It was the first thing you saw when you walked in. heater is very loud. Key points of our stay: -great check-in experience with Kyle - he gave recommendations for food as we arrived around dinner time -beautifully decorated and very on-trend (kind of reminded me of Hewing Hotel in Minneapolis) -quiet room - very little noise from other guests while in our room other than the occasional door being closed -rainfall shower - I personally prefer more water pressure, but I know many love rainfall -shower products had clean ingredients!!! -parking ramp on the backside of hotel with access via skyway -reliable WiFi -comfortable bed and pillows -good location - close to restaurants and a delicious local ice cream shop If we're ever back in Fargo, we'll be staying here!! read more

To say that the salmon entre was a total rip-off would be an understatement. The charge of $31 dollars for a piece of fish measuring 2 1/2 inches in length and 2 inches wide is a LARCENY. I thought it was a mistake and was brought an appetizer. Not at all exaggerating. They give you a complimentary dessert to appease you. Never in all my days did i ever see a portion that small. The place is overpriced and the service is absolutely horrible. They served raw and undercooked food during my wedding, and when guests complained and asked them to actually cook the food they just ignored us. They served an 8 dollar dessert that tasted like the bottom of coffee container, which was extremely runny and served in a container like a pudding cup. My guests that were brave enough to attempt the food thank the chef at the Jasper for the overpriced diarrhea. The place wouldn't even apologize for making our wedding a joke. For a new venue they have a lot to learn in the area of customer service and their management should be let go, especially Abby Tow, who is completely incompetent at her position. If you are planning on having an event don't look to the Jasper they are just a newer building stuffed full of inexperience and incompetence. read more

Looks nice, feels good, restaurant has good food. The honeymoon ends there. The streets are noisy, even after the 10 PM noise ordinance goes in effect. Not fun to wake up to security/police 10 feet outside my door at 1 AM handling some loud altercation. Then up again to loud music playing in an adjoining room at 3:30 AM. After that the trains start at 3:45 and continue for the next 90 minutes or so (think My Cousin Vinny). Housekeeping never touched my room nor did they ask nor did the front desk advise of some minimal cleaning policy. Seems they were changing linen, etc on other rooms, missed mine I guess. Room service menu is very short. Ordered the fried chicken sandwich. It was one of the worse I have seen and tasted. Was way over done, think dark brown, and super dry. Took one bite and thought better of it. Parking is nice but confusing. The guest must choose between validated for $10 or normal fees. I was not worried about the cost difference (whatever that was, as no one could really tell me) so validated my pass... except.... It worked once to get out and then let me back in but would not let me out, so had to sit as cars lined up behind me as they tried to figure it out. Pretty frustrating. In the end they just let me out but then my validated pass could not let me in as it said I was already inside. Just not a great system. Do not be fooled by the 5 star reviews. Missing an entire night sleep to some police altercation, loud music and trains in the middle of the night is not worth it. Avoid and stay somewhere else. Oh, the manager did say sorry. read more

Want to adjust the AC? They are "eco-friendly and that is turning out to be a problem" according to the front desk. Ours did finally kick in, but it is a frustrating challenge. And I am hoping we can stop it when the room cools down but there does not seem to be any guarantee. Robes provided in the room. Nice. Oh wait. One robe. For two people. "And the second one might not be complimentary," she says. (Im getting a bit irritated now... Oh! Yay! A cafe 7 am to 2 pm ... but wait. No menu. No service. Just a place to sit with your grab and go sack breakfast. So really, no cafe. I paid a $50 cleaning fee because I had my small dog staying with us. That's fine. I understand. They want to "clean thoroughly after we leave." I just wish they had cleaned thoroughly before I arrived, too, as I did not appreciate finding KY LIQUID in the bedside drawer. Yuck. Ugh. Absolutely the worst. And they call this room clean? And as mentioned by another reviewer, just because the website (or in room monitor) says it is available, does not mean it really is. Every concern is met with "well we're just getting started", "we're new" but they do have their full room rates kicked in. Partial service, partial amenities, full price. My visit to Fargo was exceptional except for my stay at Jasper Hotel. When checking in I was misinformed about the parking and assumed it was free when in fact it was $10.00 per day, which I found out upon checking out. I had requested a King room with a view. Upon entering the room (which was very small) there was no place to put your suitcase other than on the floor. The closet to hang my clothes was so small that I could not fit all my clothes let alone my wife's clothes. The safe was on the floor, which was almost impossible to reach. After returning from a day of exploring Fargo we returned to a dirty room that was not cleaned. I informed the front desk and they said they were sorry but it should have been cleaned but made no attempt to take care of the situation other than to state it would be cleaned the next day. read more

Excellent stay! This hotel opened just 2 months ago. I've stayed in many boutique/hipster hotels. Some are just all shine and no substance. The Jasper is not that! Great service, luxury amenities. Live jazz in the lounge, great food, room service. We didn't try the sauna but wanted to. After a long cross country drive from Seattle, this was the perfect spot to forget we were on a road trip for a night. Huge room with panoramic views. Dog friendly and excellent wine list. My wife and I came for the soft opening, and they spared no expense on making sure the service was spectacular! There was someone at every spot we could imagine, ready to clear a plate, offer us an hors d'oeuvre, and make sure we had an amazing time. From the management (Tanner is an absolute gem and glad he is at this amazing brand!) to the staff (shoutout to Connie! She's the real MVP and took care of us every step of the way!), we could not have asked for a better time. The art was tastefully picked, drinks were well crafted and delicious, and we will be back to stay in the rooms and eat at their restaurant. Also, get the king suite if you can!
