They seem like nice people and the restaurant is clean, but the price is ridiculous. $75 for two people for a none fancy lunch with only water to drink. They forgot my pita, and didn't have everything on the dessert menu, which I was looking forward to. I ended up getting a cookie about the size of AirPods . . . It was 5 dollars! read more

The place is a very clean and large dinning area. The decor was cool, and restroom was clean. The place was quiet, as there was no background music. The price was steep for all dishes except their coffee. I haven't never had any of dishes exceeded $20. All their main courses avg from $25 to $30. Portion was medium, some can be full, and some may still feel hungry. But with the high price tag on each dish, you want to be full. So go somewhere else and grab some tacos afterwards. Food quality was great, this part saves them from my criticism. The chicken wasn't dry, and the taste was savory. I recommend trying their coffee, very different in the aroma and taste. Service was medicore. Not good nor bad. Overall, the experience of ok. The price is just too steep. At least my taste buds and stomach were happy afterwards except for my wallet. It gets a 3.0 out 5. Due to the high prices, they will have to do a lot better to get me to visit again. read more

Came for the first time with a few regulars and the food was generously portioned and deliciously seasoned. I gave the curry chicken a try and it was really tasty. It's a warm and friendly restaurant well worth the visit and adds to the culinary scene of the RGV! read more

Food was delicious!!! 10/10 First time here and we weren't disappointed with anything we ordered. For starters, we got a side of hummus& pita bread, can't complain... lovedddd that a lot! Pita tastes freshly baked and was nice and warm when it arrived at our table. As my entree, I got a pita wrap with fries and a delicious cucumber mint lemonade (personally a little too tart for my liking, but still very refreshing and delicious, I still finished it all of it) and my bf got the plate version of mine SO GOOD!! For dessert we got the pistachio baklava and the pistachio cake accompanied by a delicious Turkish Coffee.... and WOW! (I personally liked the baklava more though) but man that coffee was truly the best I've ever tasted! Price range of the plates are a little pricey ($20-$30/ plate) so be prepared to spend money but we truly didn't mind because of how authentic everything tastes and the service was great too so it definitely makes up for it! read more

I truly wish them well. The Food is amazing but I can't believe how ridiculously expensive the food is. It's just shocking how expensive the food is compared to the 5-star Mediterranean/Persian/Arabian/Turkish restaurants in big cities such as Dallas and Houston. I truly wish them the best but every-time I felt so guilty and horrible spending that much money for the food. I usually now go to the Texas Brazilian Place because it literally costs me less and the food is still 5-star quality and they keep bringing you fresh meat ...So sorry guys. I would be there every day if the prices were reasonable read more

Food may be good but extremely overpriced! Shawarma for $24????? Way too expensive. Should cost half as much.

Service: Prompt, clean and responsive. Restaurant: Very clean. The windows are free of fingerprints, which is a feat here is the Valley. The walls, tables and floors are clean. Spotless Food: I love Middle Eastern Food and for those of you that have never tried, it is a good introduction. The food is well made and tasty but the spice is light. Typically Middle Easter food is full of a punch like Mexican food, but this time the cooks were shy with the seasoning. The lentil soup was on point and the pita is well made. The beef in the Shawarma was good but again missing that punch of seasoning. The Kaftan beef plate was also missing the seasoning but it was also very thin. The Kafta I have had in Houston, Dallas is thicker, about 3 fingers worth, this one was about a pencil's worth. The value for the amount of meat you receive is not worth the hefty price. I wish them success but bring on the flavor that is typical of your cuisine. read more

My wife and I have been in the RGV for several months. We moved from San Diego, California. We love it here in the Valley. The people our so nice and the food is great. My wife and I had a favorite Mediterranean restaurant we went to in San Diego called Aladdin's. This place was the best. Great food. My wife saw this restaurant on our way to the cleaners. We had to stop and check this place out. I wanted to see if the Mediterranean food here in the RGV would be the same as it was in San Diego. You walk into this restaurant and you feel a sense of peace. We love all kinds of food but I don't write reviews on "good food." I right reviews on great food. There is a difference. My wife ordered beef kabob with rice and grilled vegetables. She also had tabouleh and hummus. I had the Shawarma Lamb plate with rice and hummus. I also ordered another side of hummus with beef and Baklava to go. My wife had ice tea, and I had cucumber lemonade (Yummy. Oh my Lord). The food was served in a timely manner and the portions were huge. Everything brought to our table was made fresh. The pita bread just melted in your mouth. I took my first bite and in my opinion, this meal was better than the Mediterranean food I had experienced in San Diego. This meal, by far, was exceptional. I had to tell the owner how pleased my wife and I were with the meal. The guy had a big smile on his face like he already knew his food was awesome. This food was definitely made with love. Meals prepared like this meal, our truly hard to find. This restaurant is definitely the place you would take family and loved ones so they can also experience the joy of this exquisite food. My wife and I will be customers for life. I will definitely tell my friends and family to go to this restaurant. Thank so much for the excellent meal. The love you provided through your meals will touch the hearts of everyone who eats at your restaurant. May God bless you and yours always. Also, don't forget to leave a great tip for great food and great service. The people at this restaurant clearly go out their way to make your dinning experience a memorable one. Show your love and appreciation. Give a great tip. You will be blessed for your kindness my brotha. Peace and keep loving each other RGV. read more

This restaurant was very clean however . Did not fare well in the end . We first came in as Muslims thinking that this family owned restaurant was going to be superb . The muhammara was exceptional after making it a point that we don't wish to have a taste palette prepared for the Europeans. The hummus was mediocre at best , definitely for someone that doesn't know better . The kibbeh was actually amazing . The bread was your basic pita bread not fresh baked Arab bread . Fatoush was ok . The real problem came when we ordered two lamb skewers and two beef skewers hoping to enjoy some nice halal meat . This meat was the worse meat I think I have ever tasted extremely poor quality. I then have to question if is even halal or not . I then addressed with a lady in the restaurant instead acknowledging how bad it was she wanted to defend it . Terrible service from her . Also very rude she began to speak about me behind my back to my brother thinking I didn't understand her and furthermore defending the poor quality of the meat . Also we ordered arabi cahwa really thinking she was gonna bring the actual cahwa I drink every day back home in the majlis in Qatar . She brings the worse excuse for Turkish coffee I have ever tasted , like water . I can not recommend this place at all . The baklava is pretty bad also . Although she advertises Kanafa on the door . She said we don't make it here anymore . I think if you actually don't know how arabi mezze and fresh halal meat is supposed to taste and you want bad desserts and to be talked about behind your back . You should go here . However I highly suggest you find somewhere with fresh halal meat that is actually edible . This place is not for you or your enemies. I will give it 1 star for the kibbeh . read more

Found this restaurant by chance and I'm so glad we stopped in for lunch. The restaurant seemed clean and well-kept. The server was so polite and attentive. The cucumber lemonade was fresh, delicious and refreshing. The prices seemed a little high but the plates had more food than I could finish in one seating. Overall, I was excited to eat here and it did not disappoint. Definitely going back. read more

Pricey but always fresh and delicious, homemade dessert is ahead great here, the building is always clean, the staff is very polite

The waiter took our orders for our group of 3 ppl, then came back after about 10min to clarify the orders. We were like, "wait, this whole time he hasn't put in our orders yet?!!" When I got my order of lamb shawarma, which was less than 10min after this clarification, it was as in the picture. I was confused because I have always known shawarma to be SLICES of meat. But as you can see in the pic, I got random little tid bits of meat, that included a lot of fatty part that I had to spit out. I felt like they gave me left overs of their meat, and did not appreciate that. On the other hand, the flavor of the meat was pretty good, so I ate the pieces that I could and set aside the fatty pieces. I was soooooo hungry that I didn't feel like bringing up the fact that wha they brought me wasn't shawarma... I just ate ASAP. Hahaha I am hoping next time, they will give me the slices of meat that we know as Shawarma rather than the leftover pieces and cutlets of meat with fat. read more

Great food, service and ambiance! Reminiscent of Mediterranean restaurants in cities like NY and Houston! Highly recommend!

This is not the same Fares that I visited a while back. It has new owners and new decor. The restaurant is clean and attractive. The girl working was very friendly. At first glance this is not a cheap mean. The average plate is over $15. However they have a meal for two that allows you to choose two meats and some cold sides and a hot side. We tried the beef shishkebab and the chicken curry. They were very good. We also enjoyed the hummus and the pita. It was good food, and the serving size was nice. We will try it again and will probably just get the meal for two again because it was plenty of food and cheaper than two meals. read more

Amazing food!!! Every bite that you take is filled with so much flavor and authenticity. I sincerely feel like I'm eating at my grandparents home when eating here. I literally recommend everything. Although I must say my go to meal is the Kibbeh with labneh and a side of tabouleh and fries. Also the meat and cheese pie is also a family favorite. If you go save room for dessert and traditional Arabic coffee. What also make this place special is everything is made fresh and to order so be patient and get ready to have yourself a culinary experience that is hard to find outside a traditional middle eastern home. read more

Excellent middle eastern food, very fresh and all made from scratch. Love the charcoal barbecued chicken. Pita bread is handmade from scratch and warmed up in their oven. All the sides were super fresh. Great tabouli, humus, babaganush. All top notch in my opinion. I was visiting from Los Angeles which has incredible Middle Eastern food and Fares is better than many of LA's best places. I hope they do very well here! read more

This was a great experience. The hummus was so delicious and smooth. Not grainy at all. The pita was steamy and very tasty. I also tried the falafel and the spices were perfectly balanced. This place is extremely clean and inviting. The dessert options under the glass were really tempting but trying to cut down on my sugar intake. Ordered 2 beef kabob sandwiches which were filled with tender cubes of steak wrapped in a delicious pita with a nice blend of veggies and an amazing white garlic sauce. Hummus and fries were added as sides. Hummus was definitely on point. The fries were served in abundance with an extraordinary blend of spices. This place is great I think it has three stars for the price range. Although being from California if you're looking for diversity in food this is the place. I honestly believe that people out here aren't use to different and are mainly use to tacos only. Anyway I'm writing this review to say that the owner and the cook were awesome to my mother and I and the food was great I got the chicken plate with rice and falafel which I loved . My mom got the dolmades which are the grape leaves that have rice and meat inside . So very well worth it. The price meets the quality and well your really paying for the diversity of it too. read more

I am all supportive of this place as I know it to be the only place in McAllen that we can get Middle Eastern /Mediterranean type of food. But the PRICES are just CRAZY!!!! It's Expensive on a whole new level and there is NO JUSTIFICATION!! Appetizers that would cost $4 or 3.99$ in a HIGH-END restaurants in HOUSTON , would cost 8.99 or 7.99 and the portion is SMALL!! A KOFTA Kabob Plate that would cost 14.99 to 16.99 in RICH PLACES that I have lived like IRVINE in California is 25.99$ in this restaurant. It just DOES NOT MAKE SENSE!! And I literally moved from California 3 months ago to this region and I go to Houston at least once a month and I have been to every high class Middle Eastern , Mediterranean and high end PERSIAN PLACES like KASRA which takes about 2 hours to get in and their prices are a lot lower and their portions of their appetizers are significantly bigger. As much as I crave this food on weekly basis, I don't think I want to go back mainly because of the prices. Again, nothing but support but they need to do something about their prices. I was there on Sunday and they were barely any customer the time I went and I am sure it has to do with the prices. read more
