This review is solely about a middle aged Caucasian woman with long brown hair working at around 4:55-5pm on 05/15. She refused to allow me in the store with my bags, and would not put them behind the counter as staff have instructed me to do in the past. I came in to buy tobacco products which I had never done at this shop, I've only come to shop in the past for other adult products. She told me that I would have to put my bag on the sales floor within reach of customers. When I expressed that I would prefer if she could put my bags in a safe place, she told me that she didn't want my bags behind the counter because there was "too much stuff back there" and insisted that I put my personal belongings on the floor by the entrance. She was extremely rude and combative toward me. She told me I was "not allowed" to bring my bags inside and began suggesting to leave them in my car. When I asked her what she wants me to do (I take the bus), she just sighed at me and told me that "this time" she'll let me keep my bags, "but it won't happen again." When I told her to forget about it, she said "ok, good," and touched my arm to usher me out of the shop. When I called the store later on and asked for the business owner or manager's contact information to formally lodge my complaint, the person on the phone informed me that she was the staff member I had issues with. She informed me that they "don't have one of those" (really, you don't have someone who hired you? who signs your paychecks? interesting!) and that we could "try again." She also added that she's "sorry that (I) felt (she) was being rude" and that she in fact was "being really nice" as they "normally make people leave their bags in the hallway." These quips are all very curious to me, as this supposed policy does not explain why the woman working on Thursday 05/02 asked me to put my bags behind the counter when I came in to shop. She is a rancid and vile individual. I absolutely know that my demeanor and attitude toward her did not cause the treatment I received. read more

Extremely upset about rude encounter with the reddish blonde haired middle age man at the counter. I tried on shoes couldn't get them off because of a packaging error that wasn't the issue what was funny is him saying if they break they break while I successfully got them off eventually and purchased the shoes. I come in often everyone else is kind. I know they deal with a variety of clientele but don't be rude and inconsistent with repeat polite customers. I also purchased two vapes. He said I could try them in the hallway I did just kinda an awkward area to just stand and even try a vape someone held the door open for me and I was barely out the door to the place I had to meet my ride. I take another puff and notice the vapes pull is off and it taste a little off only one of them the other was fine. When I came back in to tell him which was no longer than 5 to ten mins at the absolute most (a friendly guy wanted to over chat about the restaurant next door hence the slight delay) so I go back in and politely tell him about the vape he says since I went out the hallway door to the exit and went off camera I couldn't return it. I explain that's a little extreme and the vape pulls and tastes weird and I'd appreciate a replacement not even a refund I know they don't refund vapes I don't return vapes for no reason anyway ever. I tell him the other one is fine but this one tastes weird and pulls weird then he has me try it in front of him ? So that's okay now but earlier it had to be the hallway he looked at me like I was some liar and said what am I supposed to do and made some comment about the taste not being a relevant issue or that since he saw some smoke I'm lying about the pull? So back to the shoe part if the 100$ shoe would of broke getting it off you'll eat that cost per ur words but can't replace a vape ? We can test them in the hall but if I walk out for a brief moment off the camera then come back in I have to prove to you it's defective by smoking it in store ? just so you can give me a rude attitude and not swap it out total inconsistent jerk they have a good outfit selection but I'll avoid the place simply because this dude and they could clean the stalls better maybe he'd have more time to do that if he wasn't making me prove they have a stale defective vape. If he wasn't going to swap them out he could of at least professionally and politely explained why ? Even just say sorry to hear that but this is our policy would of stopped this review. I don't do business at establishments who don't have respect or courtesy towards me. I can respect a consistent policy explained to me in a polite manner and I hate doing negative long winded reviews but this one's deserved. If this issue can be rectified.I'll gladly review higher in regards to the respectful employees and other great times I've had at a place I would of recommend and repeatedly frequented this ruined my love of fantasyland this employee is Freddy Krueger out here killing dreams. It pains me to say this as a trans woman myself, but the older trans woman who is working the counter right now, Sunday, 12/12/21, at 8:30pm, is the rudest person I have ever dealt with in any retail store. She is obviously high on crystal meth, she has the telltale slurred-yet-speedy speech of a tweaker. When you ask her a question about pricing or things, she just yells "SIGN!" Yeah, some products might have a sign listing their price...but that sign is small and handwritten. So I came in tonight and was very Unhappy with the service I got. There were several people in there and I was the only female and I was singled out and really mistreated I think because of my gender. It was a transgender person that was working there I don't know if I had anything to do with it but I asked for help and somebody asked for help after me and he served the person after me first. He was very rude to me and I would not go back there again if I thought he was working there. I must disagree that this Fantasyland qualifies as "gross". Fundamentally most places like this could be called that based on casual visitors' judgement of what goes on. Fantasyland makes a reasonable effort to keep the place acceptable to the horndogs who frequent the place. The electronics now work fine and there are plastic lawn chairs instead of dicey upholstered benches. I agree the staff is friendly and welcoming. Most seem to be musicians, the music they play on the PA is great and I have overheard some interesting conversations about music between them and patrons. No one is made to feel weird about being there. Yes, the vibe is low-rent, but for some folks that adds to the atmosphere. Yes, the arcade area is mostly used for quickie sex, but w/ so many of these kinds of places in Portland, with a wide range of styles, you have choice! That is one of the things I like about this stealthily very sex-positive city. If you want snazzy neon, tons of toys& lingerie and frequent cleaning crews, go to another sex emporium like the Fantasy chain. Something for everyone! read more
