The worst highlights I have ever gotten in my life- my hair looks the same as when I walked in and I was charged $160!! I asked for the lightest possible highlights on my already dirty blonde hair so it's not even drastic and also needed to go heavy to cover greys....also told the stylist I wanted toner put in numerous times and she just didn't do it. She told me to just go home and use blonde shampoo! And to charge me a for a full head of highlights yet to put so few in, it literally looks no different than before I came in! Roots are just as bad as before- And crazy to be told to just use blonde shampoo after asking multiple times for toner! The 'highlights' are literally unnoticeable! I now need to find a new salon for a total foiling repeat! And pay out another close to $200- it's not right! read more

I originally booked for color retouch for my gray probably an inch from the roots. Quoted for $65. Fine. Since I was already here, why not get a haircut, right? Says adult $25 like all FS I've been. Check out time and to my surprise my total was $150!!!! Wait... what? So I asked why and she rambled on add ons like it's just not an ordinary cut so it's more and so on... Shouldn't you be telling the customer pricing so to be aware if its any different than an adult haircut charge? None of the FS I've been charged me for a cut more than $25. She blow dried my hair half wet.... so she charged me for that too? I was also wondering why the place was dead. Not the typical FS I've been that's always packed. And I think I now know why. In fairness, Van is awesome and knows her stuff but unfortunately I will not be back for my highlights and end up paying more than I should lol! Some FS, I've been would do consult and in the end give you the price and have you sign that you're in agreement of pricing before starting the work. Which was I think was a great idea! read more

I went to get my hair cut Friday evening. Just wanted a small amount trimmed off into a shag style. I showed the stylist a picture of something similar to what i wanted. I even mentioned i would be ok with a little longer style. This woman butchered my hair. It was to be just shoulder length but i now have hair 2 inches long in the back. I tried to tell myself it's only a hair cut. It'll grow back, but i am so upset i cant stand it. This woman didnt listen to me and cut off almost all of my hair. I will NEVER return to this location again or any famtastic sams in the future. I have been devastated all weekend and i am embarrassed to go tp work on Monday. read more

I cannot say enough good things about my experience today. I booked a cut and color with Maribel, and I have to say, this was the best service I have ever had at a salon. I arrived about 15 minutes early to my appointment and was greeted immediately. She receptionist let me know that Maribel would be ready around 2:00. She ended up running about 15 minutes late, but everyone was so pleasant it did not both me one bit. When I sat with Maribel, I showed her the dye job I wanted. She did multiple samples and really took her time. In the end, we decided on a different color which was my back-up because the blue I wanted was not going to work. She styled my hair exactly how I wanted it, and the coloring job was incredibly thorough. I really cannot stress how impressed I am. I am sorry I did not catch the other employee's name, but she also needs to be commended. The salon closed at 5 but we did not finish my hair until almost 6 PM, and the other stylist stayed so mine wasn't alone! What customer service!!! Seriously, if you are skeptical about a "chain" place, please try Maribel out. I promise you will not be disappointed. 5 star service from the entire staff, I look forward to coming back. read more

After growing out a very bad cut (from someone else), I made a last minute decision last week to head to Fantastic Sams for a cut. I went on a Friday after work with no appointment and had no wait at all. Shelby took control and with excellent skill (and a the help of a razor) whipped my hair into shape. I have tricky hair, it's coarse and wavy and even with that bad prior cut to work with she made it look fantastic. I'm super pleased and will most definitely be back. I would give it zero stars if i could. do NOT get your hair cut at this place. They messed up my hair so badly when they cut it. First off, they cut it SUPER uneven. This location has serviced me 3x due to my legience of the GA locations which were excellant service, customer relations and training..2 of 3 visits here were poor outcomes due to lack of skill set and attention to customer; however I continued to give them a third try. Today I was to be seen by the former stylist Adrianne for low lights and trim to bring definition to my natural brunette color that was colored over last visit due to its light color which I no longer wanted. I sat in chair and conveyed to Adrianne to please not take offense but needed her to know my last visit she butchered my hair in back and didnt cut/stack satisfactory and was in too much of a hurry and could she please not rush and stack my hair in back as I requested. Instead of calling or going back due to my dismay I still tipped her and just held off till next visit to fill her in..She took my request as an insult instead of critique and said "I'm offended, take your hair somewhere else". I have always been Pleased going to this Salon, they always have Coupons advertised in the Sunday Paper...and I take my kids their to get there Haircuts for usually $6.95 with the coupon, can't beat that ! I do not make an appt. for the hair cuts but for any other service you really need too ! I get my hair done there...yes I admit it. I refuse to pay $100.00 plus dollars anymore at Salon..instead I see Tina the manager and she does an excellent job... try her you'll be very pleased ! You will need to call and make an appt. though.. people complain that you have to wait when you walk in....well hey most places you need to make appts. lately ! The only reason I came into this place was because of the coupon for $15 off color and cut. It was my first time ever doing anything to my hair and I'm so glad I went here. I was afraid that I should have gone to a salon that wasn't under Fantastic Sams but my mind was changed. I got light brown highlights and my stylist was Cody (not sure about spelling) and I loved her! She was super nice and kept up conversation. She was careful with choosing the specific color I wanted too! My hair turned out exactly what I wanted and she even styled it by curling it and telling me about what hair products she recommended! I went into FS bc the pricing for a haircut is great. I've got long hair and only needed about an inch or so cut off and wanted to add layers. I had about 3 pictures of the same haircut that I showed the stylist who I got. I told her I wanted to keep my length, but maybe an inch. I wanted it angled like a v so long in the middle, and then layered All over up the sides. Carla was very sweet, presented well so I figured I'd be fine. I started to realize tho, that she was probably new. I always tell hairstylists which side I ALWAYS part my hair on, but Carla insisted on parting my hair in the middle to do the layers. I said fine bc I figured she knew what she was doing. She asked me if I wanted my hair blow dried, and since the sign says a shampoo and blowout are included with the haircut for like $26 or so, i said yes. I eventually figured out that she was definitely new bc another coworker had to remind her about another client who has been sitting by the heaters that needed to be finished before me. So I got up and sat down in another seat. Finally I got back into the chair for her to finish my blow dry. She was using a round brush and when I was almost finished asked me if I wanted it straightened... (my hair was already straight from the round brush blow dry she was doing), I said no. When she FINALLY was finished she showed me my hair with the mirror from the back. *face palm* NOTHING like the photos and she had got almost 3 inches off my hair clear across. I was living, but What do you even say at that point?! I was pretty much over it. I had gotten to the salon at 9:15 and literally didn't get done till 11:15. Then when they cashed me out, instead of my cut being, as the sign listed, less than $30, it was like $48. A coworker came to help ring me out and asked how long my hair was, so I turned around and then I think they might have charged me for having long hair?!?! I wasn't aware that was a thing. Never happened before. So with tip, I paid like $56 for a 2 hour haircut that should've taken like maybe 45 min. Esp considering it was NOTHING like what I had showed her. The end. read more

My hair stylist is Carla and she is probably one of the best colorists I have ever had. She listens and blends the color just right so everything looks natural. When you grey prematurely you have to have your hair colored quite a lot. And here in Tampa I have paid big bucks (over $100) for a color job and not had it as good as the job Carla does. She is friendly and fun and does a great job. The business itself is fun and active with all the stylists looking like theyy enjoy thier jobs and customers. First of all.....DO NOT GO HERE!!!! They will totally mess up your hair. They gave me to Martha- she had ZERO idea how to cut hair. I had long hair and was asking for a long bob with light faded in layers. She went to ask someone what to do (should have been a flag and I should have left then.) They told her to dry cut my hair. She started cutting and I was getting worried. She was cutting wwaaayyy too short. I told her she was cutting too much and she said it would look different when finished. Then to cut the layers- all she did was section off my hair at different points going up my hair and cut STRAIGHT across!!!! you could literally see every hair and blunt cut she made. I started bawling in the chair. She threw up her arms and said I gave you a haircut. The "manager" tried to come and "fix it". Her solution was to just cut more off. I can't even put my hair in a ponytail now- and the layers are still VERY blunt. I hate it- I cry every time I look into the mirror. read more

We lived in Miami for three years and she had her hair cut twice, and was totally unhappy both times - leaving her afraid to try a shop in Tampa. Using Google, she decided to try Fantastic Sam's, which had five stars and is in our neighborhood. While the breadth and depth of the entire salon experience did not come close to Japan, she was ecstatic about the quality of the cut, with the low cost assuaging her preference for the more elaborate services to be found in Japan.
