I had a cut/consult/color appointment with Kota recently and had a phenomenal experience! She was super attentive to what I was wanting and communicated the plan and reasoning behind everything. She also explained what each option would cost/what the maintenance would be like/and what kind of care would be best to support the color, and made sure i understood all of this before making the final decision which I appreciate so much. Kota was also just super friendly and easy to chat with, I genuinely enjoyed spending the day with her while my hair was processing. My hair turned out BEAUTIFUL. I came in with what was leftover from a haircut that I didn't love, and Kota listened and thoroughly explained my options. And I feel so much better about my hair now. And the color is amazing, she did a stunning purple balayage. It was exactly what I wanted and I have gotten so many compliments. Requested hair style refresh in August; had to return to have the length, sides symmetrical by another stylist; matched style to personal photo - per past appointments. Beginning of Oct: Returned to second stylist; showed photo, again; asked to have the hair style refreshed. Ended up with an entirely different cut (e.g., hair length should have just touched collar, now a good inch above the collar); had to return again (30 minutes after paying bill) to have the length and sides symmetrically trimmed (was longer on one side than other - again); hair in the back of my head from neck to mid-ear hair length shorter than my husband's military-style haircut! I brought my 93 year old mother-in-law to get her hair cut and styled today. Courtney gave her a PERFECT pixie style dry cut, EXACTLY how my mother-in-law likes to wear her hair. Courtney took her time to make sure every lock falls nicely when my mother-in-law combs it in her normal manner. Beautiful cut! However, what is more important is how Courtney engaged her in conversation. It was so nice for her to have a chat at the salon. Courtney really "saw" my mother-in-law as a woman. This place was amazing, I just got my hair done for my first time here at New Identities with Alanis, she did abso amazing, she was so sweet and I loved talking with her! She took her time on my hair and asked me what I like and made sure that she knew what I wanted, Ive had so many problems with my last few hairstylists who wouldn't listen to what I wanted and I kept wasting my money. She made my hair go from blond/dirty brown to beautiful shiny blonde, their prices are a great deal. I got multiple treatments, added to my hair and spent just as much as I did at my last salon for only a full foil. So I got two treatments and a full hair foil for $250 which I would say as an amazing deal. The treatments made my hair nice and shiny. Kim did a terrible job. She asked that I come back and she would not charge me. Upon my return, she completely changed the color of my hair and when we she agreed it was NOT RIGHT Again AND that she had missed roots completely - She said she would give me partial highlights, and re-do color and roots. However, I was not spending another minute in Salon. I called and left a message with details for Brianna (MGR) who chose not to bother returning my phone call. I will dispute this original charge on my card and if necessary go to small claims court. I'd hoped we could remedy this but 4 hours of my time, my money, terrible work and not even a call back. Laval Rhone has no business being a stylist. He does not have very good bedside manner and is incredibly rough on the hair. I asked for an undercut and after rudely telling me he doesn't do designs, to which I said ok, he went ahead and added uneven lines by digging the hair clipper into my scalp. You can clearly see that not even the hair line was done straight. The entire experience was extremely stressful considering this was my first time at a salon since the world closed down last year. Editing my rating as both the owner and the stylist reached out directly to rectify the situation. As it turns out, my hair stylist had pointed out(verbally) the spot on the back of my head during the haircut but I thought she was referring to something else. Miscommunication. The hair has not grown back which leads me to believe that I'm suffering from alopecia. :/ I was not aware of this before coming into the salon, hence why I had originally thought that my stylist inadvertently scalped me and didn't make mention of it. I'm a total diva. A hair "Karen" if you will. My behavior comes from past trauma of horrible cuts followed by months of tears. (Apparently I'm super vain). Critical: Quality I posted my hair before and after. I never should have went there! While my hairstylist was super nice I didn't get what I asked for at all. I dont like my hair at all. I absolutely hate how it came out. I wanted blue black hair with pops of blue. When she foiled my hair to bleach it only the roots were blonde, the rest was a dark copper color, she told me each section of bleached hair would need to be dry before putting the blue, she blow dried 2 or 3 pieces ( I assume got tired) and towel dried the rest. So you know what happened the freaking blue is only on half of my damn head, and only on my roots, because she thought copper would be light enough but it wasn't. She didn't even get the blue all the way down to my scalp so it looked like my hair grew out. My hair was not worth 300. She didn't even blow dry it all the way. I will be calling my credit card company she can keep her tip for her time but the service i wanted wasn't rendered. I'm so upset. There are still brown spots where she missed with the black. I don't know if its because I was her last person and she was ready to go or what. But I hate my hair. I wish I never went there. I have spotted blue black hair with spots of blue in my roots and brown spots. read more

I have been a "guest" at New Identities Riverview every 5 weeks for over 7 years. I also schedule at least 3 appointments in advance to get a 10% "discount". A few months ago this would have been a 4 star review. At my August appointment my regular stylist, Stephen, let me know that he was leaving for several months, possibly longer, and introduced me to Vanessa. My last 2 appointments have been with Vanessa. I have been accustomed to the soft sell approach at New Identities such as using a new shampoo, styling product, etc. on me . Then being asked if I liked it and would I want to buy it. There have been products that I liked and chose to purchase. My last visit was beyond any experience I've had. After a cut and color, Vanessa placed a Holiday special shampoo set on the counter and the front desk person started to package it. Why??? I didn't say I needed and shampoo! I guess she thought that I'd be to reluctant to say I wasn't spending $44.00 on shampoo that I didn't need. I never seen a manager on site at New Identities Riverview and there's been a different person at the front desk on my last 3 visits. So I called the primary location in Tampa Palms and asked to speak to a manager. I spoke to Liam, explained a little bit of what happened and he said a manager would call me back in a couple of days. It's now been 5 days with no return call from a manager but I have seen that a manager responds to negative reviews. In this case, the manager can go ahead and cancel my December, January and February appointments with Vanessa. read more

Came to this location several months back. My haircut was fine - no complaints but was nothing special either. Booked another appointment online out of convenience. Showed up on time, was told that the stylist was going to be 20 minutes late (on a 45 minute appointment) because she had started someone else's hair. Was treated like it was my fault for not booking a 'thick' haircut online. Mind you, my hair is not thick. Apparently that is what I was charged for last time. The whole situation rubbed me wrong given the rudeness I was shown and that I was on my lunch break and did not have time to wait. They did refund my deposit when I left. Won't be back. read more

I started at this salon actually in person with Lexi, unfortunately she left. I tried a new stylist after she left and she did a great job as well. However I am leaving the low review because with Lexi and the new stylist I have had at least 4-6 appointments cancelled by the salon for last minute days off. I think one was a true emergency, which I get but the others I can't find acceptable. As someone myself who schedules and makes appointments for my own clients, scheduling is a huge deal as sometimes it can take months to get back in. I walked into "New Identities Hair Studio" in Riverview FL two days before my appointment to see if they can accomplish a hair color that found on google. I showed the stylist at the front desk, and she stated that it can be done. I asked if it will require bleaching of my hair and she said yes at first, then proceeded to ask another stylist her opinion. They both came over to me and stated that they will require toner to achieve the colors I showed them. Appointment day arrived and I walked with high hopes. The stylist stated working on my hair, and after 1 hour she stated the color I requested will be darker, but you can still see the blue (see photos). The stylist offered a deep condition on the house and never did it.Also dried my hair with a blow dryer and regular hair brush which I never seen in my life. After that she started curling my hair. The price jumped from 162 dollars to 216 dollars which I understand if I had what I requested from them, but to pay that much and not get the service that I requested two days prior is just irritating!! The stylist also appeared to be accomplished in her trade and it was job well done.Which it wasn't a job well done. At this time my hair is damaged from "New Identities Hair Studio". Super disappointed with my coloring. Reference the photo; left was what I started with, far right it what I wanted and the middle is what I got. I was shocked that a one color treatment was $300 at this salon (no cut). I had previously done balayage elsewhere for less at a more prestigious South Tampa salon. The colorist knew I wasn't happy and she said it would lighten, but it only got brassy despite using the recommended products. She offered me a $20 coupon because I was in tears (and she literally ran off) so technically it was $280, but add on gratuity...ugh. Seriously, don't go here!!!! read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could but that's not an option. I've gone to this place a couple times before so I am not new to here. This morning I had a haircut appointment at 9:30. I had to bring my daughter with me who was in a stroller. I knew coming into this appointment that there would be a possibility that I would not be seen because I had a stroller with me. After I got checked in, nobody had said anything to me about it. I had overheard one of the workers telling her client "I hope she has a babysitter because she cannot bring that stroller back here". After I heard her say that I could still hear her talking to her client, but I couldn't make out what she was saying so I proceeded to ask the guy up at the front desk if I can speak to a manager. He said, "sure, let me go get her". I come to find out that this manager, Brianna, is doing somebody else's hair right next to the person who was talking about me to her client. I overheard Brianna tell the guy "If you need help, come get me" , like as if I'm some monster. Well yes I need help, that's exactly why I asked for a manager. I'm curious to know why the manager of this salon didn't come and handle this and she had the guy up front do her work for her? Isn't this supposed to be a place where you come and feel good about yourself because that's the last thing I was feeling. As of right now I'm waiting for a callback from Brianna. I'm hoping to hear from her later today. I would never expect service like this from a salon. I am a mom of two kids and I have two jobs so my schedule is pretty tight to be able to get out and do something nice for myself so I thought I would give it a shot in the dark and bring my daughter. All the manager needed to do was come up to me and tell me. "Hey, you can't bring the stroller back here let's reschedule you" . I'm a very understanding person. Today was my first time at the salon and I fell in love. My stylist was Christina and she was great. She was very personable and professional. She took her time and really gave special care to my hair. She was honest and intelligent when I showed her the picture of what I wanted. She made sure I was able to style it the way it was in the picture and made some suggestions based on her professional opinion. She recommended some products but wasn't pushy like some stylist can be. I was greeted almost immediately and upon checking in I was offered something to drink. The salon was clean and decorated nicely. They had upbeat current music playing. It was $39 for my cut and style. And my hair need some SERIOUS styling because it's so curly, thick and coarse. Christina blow dried my hair, straightened it in order to texturize it, and then curled it. I feel the price was was a great value. The stars are for Alex. She's awesome. I highly recommend her. I struggle with finding someone I like for my hair cutting needs, with Alex I have found someone. Hopefully she doesn't move away like al of my past stylist. Overall for the salon itself I would say it's a 4 That's only because I feel it can be a by expensive. Went in today to use my second visit incentive coupon. I had an appointment scheduled on 2/4 but was unable to make it so I cancelled. My work schedule allowed for me to come in last minute today and they were able to get me in. I asked the front desk lady if I could use the coupon and she said yes. When I check out, she said sorry you can't use it because you cancelled the original appointment and didn't reschedule. Well, they just lost a customer instead of just honoring the $10 off coupon.
