I have been going to this salon for over five years- initially for haircuts & more recently, for coloring. The biggest issue that I have is the complete lack of transparency with pricing. It is not on the website at all. The price continues to increase, with no communication about it. The "rules of engagement" around the senior citizen discount on Tuesdays is also not on the website with regard to the hours that it is honored or what the actual discount is. I've been told conflicting information, which is very frustrating. The "flash sales" for haircuts & coloring that you are frequently texting have fine print that you need to read....the discounted pricing isn't honored by your master stylists. Most of your stylists would be exempt from this pricing, which isn't realized by clients. I have discontinued having my hair colored at this salon because you charge for things that other salons don't (eyebrow coloring, extra moisturizing.) I also wasn't happy with the results that I received. My husband is no longer going to this salon for haircuts. He found a salon that specializes in mens' haircuts that is $5 less without having to jump through hoops for the "Tuesday senior citizen discount." read more

My first time at any Fantastic Sam's Salon. I went for a woman's haircut. I researched very thoroughly, I thought, to several nearby locations to my home within a 30 minute radius. I chose Apple Valley, even though it was the furthest, because of the great reviews of the stylist, Megan. My big mistake! I found she really didn't know how to cut my hair. I came for a good trim because the last person I had fried the ends of my hair giving me hight lights. Seems everyone has the answer. So, she proceeds to wash my hair and tell me I could use a special conditioner treatment for an extra cost. I said I have plenty of extra hair masks at home and didn't need one, AND she did it anyway! Then she give me a hair trim and proceeds to TEXTURIZE IT, so now I have a real mess including a lot less hair along with wings on the side and a very FLAT hair style! Needless to say, I am not a happy camper today even after re-washing it today, and trying to re-fluff it, And according to her....use all these styling products for curly hair :( I think they are in the business of selling products. I went to get a highlight, haircut and an eye brow wax. It was all ok I thought until when I got home, I notice some small abrasions near my right eye From waxing. I had eye brow waxing before but I never had this problem. I thought the lady who did this was a little rough. read more

My stylist is Meg, and she's absolutely wonderful! My hair always looks great when I walk out of there after color and cut.

Will be avoiding coming back to this location while Jess is running the show. Seems to be more of a concern of getting the most services completed than customer satisfaction. Scheduled an appointment to have conditioning treatment, assuming blow dry would be included and I wanted loose flat iron curls. Communicated this with stylist and she was happy to help make me feel good for a night out and updated the computer. After getting my hair wet, Jess tells my stylist there will not be enough time to complete my curls. I would have completed this services somewhere else if I would have been told there was not enough time for me. It seem to be a revolving door and (without knowing 100%) people continued to walk in for services. The way Jess walks the floor with intimidation to have stylists get clients out faster is an even more reason to not return to this location. read more

I am so disappointed in Apple valley fantastic sams. They're waiting for a haircut is one week I can't get in until next Wednesday. I shouldn't have to wait a week to get a simple haircut. They allow walk-ins but when you walk in without an appointment they say oh sorry we don't have availability! I just find this very irritating! read more

0 Stars for results. 5 Stars for my stylist's patience & personality. I entered the shop as a walk in at approximately 1300 hours (1:00P). I have never had any professional work done on my hair aside from a haircut. I have been box dying my hair for years & entered on this day with my usual box dyed deep burgundy. I showed Hayley a photo of full color brown with a balayage of blue & purple. Hayley gave me a quote of $185 for the full color, tone & balayage itself; I had spoken to Hayley before, but had never had work done by her. Despite being a government employee on furlough & on limited funds, I have been quite stressed & wanted to do something for myself, hence, YOLO-ing this dye job & doing something new for myself. Excited, we dove into the little over three hour process. When Hayley washed out the toner, the highlights were orange, as to be expected on brown hair. Now, I'm no expert, but I had a very strong feeling the color had no way of sticking to this orange, however, I had already been sitting with toner in my hair for half an hour or so out of the three hours. It was my fault that I didn't say anything, because when it came time to color & wash, my hair appeared as brown as the initial full color dye job Hayley had started with. Disappointed she didn't mention anything while she was adding the blue & purple (even though 90% of me knew it wouldn't turn), Hayley did however, say I could come back this coming Wednesday to get it fixed. I was charged the full $185 plus some for a brow wax (which she did well on). I gave her $205 to keep the excess for tip, but I feel I shouldn't have3 been charged so much considering I spent over three hours there in hopes of getting certain results, but instead walked out with brown hair (which, I could have box dyed myself for $7). I appreciate Hayley being so personable & kind, what a personality she has, I enjoyed talking & laughing with her, just the results & time wasted for both of us is disappointing. I don't want to put blame or excuses in the jar, but I was her last client & the store was closing at 1800 hours, so I feel the job was almost rushed in a way. January 31, went back a second time to get this brown hair fixed (which is fading by the way), & sat there for another three hours or so. Color stuck this time, instead of the blue & purple as per the inspiration photo, I got green & light Barney purple. $185 for already fading brown & the Joker's hair. My hair wasn't styled or trimmed of split ends & as you can see in photos, blonde from the toner is still present. Update. February 2 I went into Apple Valley & Jessica did an amazing job fixing my hair. She & the other stylists were appalled at how damaged it was & the coloring job. You'll see which photo is the fix. Jessica & all the stylists at this location are amazing! Everyone is interactive & at opening (I got there literally five after opening at 0905), the lobby was packed! Versus at the Eagan location (I absolutely getting a haircut & brow wax from Kevra), it's always empty. read more

The salon was beautiful and clean. It had been awhile since I got my haircut, so I was nervous that I wouldn't like it or that it would be too short, but it looks amazing and so healthy! I have been here a couple of times. It really matters who you get, as is case at most salons. Do Thursday's with Ashley, if you feel you must do this salon. Stay away from Monday girls. The Asian girl I had would have overcharged me . Plus, the color was so bad I had to go to my salon in in the cities to get it fixed. read more

My 14 year old son whose going to high school wanted to try coloring and a more grown up hair cut. After waiting for an hour and 30 min we finally get a consultation where you get 7-8 foils and a haircut for $120!! Keep it in mind this is a teen boy. She told me shed give me a discount for 2 less foils for $90! Well after my child begging i relented and had the $90 special. She colored beforehand then cut. We could hardly notice the "highlights" at all. They were pretty much cut off. The cut was good same as you'd get at supercuts he for $15. Would i go again NO!! They take no appointments and its a really long wait. Go to a regular salon make a scheduled appointment and pay much much less for teen boys. Ugh!! read more

I have been here twice. First time was a so so experience with someone that I don't remember her name. I got my haircut by Sarah last night. I honestly have to say she was awesome. Probably the best haircut experience I have had in a long time. I had gone to great clips for years and always had an ok experience with them. I moved closer to this Sam's location and thought I would give it a try. I can say I would definitely recommend asking for Sarah if you visit this location. read more

Went to this location to get highlights. Told lady that I want something not too drastic since I have dark brown hair. Hairdresser (forgot her name but she said she was 20 yrs old) over-processed and fried my hair! Called after a day to come in to get it fixed. Gloria was nice enough to take me in because the girl that did my hair said I had to wait for her for an hour before she can help me. She was never apologetic about what she did, instead she blamed me because she said that was what I wanted.. lol! Great customer service ;-) They tried to do toner but it was still so light with my dark brown hair. I heard that the lady that did my highlights was known to pack highlights in one area. She could have asked me if I'd prefer chunky or fine highlights but no.. she did what she wanted to do and ended up damaging my hair. I was expecting salon to reimburse me since my hair was totally damaged and dried out and looks like spaghetti when wet. Instead, they kept selling me products and just said that there's nothing they can do. I think that sucks! Now I have to go each day with dried out damaged over processed hair that I paid for and to make it more fun... spend a lot of money for products for months to treat my hair. Uuhhhmmmm ...
