Scam- I went in for a hairwash and curls. After taking at look at my hair, she said the cost would be $65. Hair wash was not worth it all, we were done with the wash in 2 minutes, with shampoo water all splashed over my eyes and face. The curls were done ok, not great, definitely not worth $65. At the end when I went for billing she said she's going to charge me $75 instead of $65 because she did 'something differently than her style' Zero advance notice of what, why or when she decided to 'upgrade the service' on her own. Be careful of such last minute scams, trying to get more money than agreed upon. read more

If you love your children, avoid this place. I took my kid to this place since they open early and that was a handful of salons open at the time we were available. The lady was not exactly friendly to say the least and I figured that everyone deserved the benefit of the doubt and decided to let her cut my kid's hair. This is my mistake. Lo and behold, after the haircut my kid complained about pain on his neck. I took and look and there were a bunch of cuts on the neck. Needless to say we'll never be back. read more

I happen to be in town for NYE and needed an oil change and a haircut. Luckily, thru Yelp, I found both just walking distance from each other. Dropped off my car and walked over to the salon. When I walked in, there was one lady on the phone as I waited at the front counter. It took a few minutes before she helped me but finally asked me what I wanted and sat me down, while she was still talking on the phone. I was telling myself, "if she tries to cut my hair while she's still on the phone, I'm storming out of here." She finally gets off the phone and breezes through my haircut. Simple fade and a little off the top. Usually it's 15-20 min and I'm done but she's done in 5-10 min. I look at my hair and it looks uneven. I ask her about it and she says I have too many cowlicks and that once she puts in gel it will look ok. I ask for a shampoo just to make sure. It still looks uneven as she applies gel but she insists that it's my cowlicks. Not too happy since this is my New Years Eve haircut and want to look good, so I'll just have my wife touch me up. I get to the front and ask her about the advertised Yelp $10 for $15 deal and she tells me that they stopped that a long time ago. I show her my phone and tell her it's still advertised on Yelp. She calls her boss and then tells me the deal is no longer good and they can give me 10% off. At this point, I just want to get out of here. Don't they understand that I found this place through Yelp and that if I have a bad experience, I will write a review on it? Well, I hope they do now. I picked this place cause it had some great reviews. I gave them a chance, but they failed horribly. Never coming back here again and would never recommend to anyone. Came here because it was close to my gym and I just wanted to clean up before I went. Should've been simple enough. Walked out with a sigh feeling "good enough" so I wasn't gonna say anything but after getting home and showering I realized this was literally the worst haircut I'd ever had. I could complain about around six or so things but the dumbest thing was she kept cutting my hair shorter and shorter to "make sure it was even" cmon. I feel like this was joke at this point. I really wish I would have read the yelp reviews before I booked my hair and makeup appointment. Giving 1 star since Megan and Mary were cordial/nice the day of services. I should have went with my gut when Megan was unresponsive via text. I have worked with several HMUA and all have been extremely professional and responsive...even the ones who have published work! Below are some examples of my experiences: 1. Reached out multiple times via text/email asking if she needed inspiration pics of hair and makeup ideas. No response. I finally had to call in which she was initially rude and short with me over the phone. 2. Sent pictures via text as requested. She said she will check with her mom (Mary) to see if she can do them. I wanted a simple messy updo for myself and a pull through braid for my daughter. Event was on 6/16, sent follow-up text on 6/12 asking if she had a chance to show pics to her mom and got one line text "Yes she can do it". Now on to the day of service: 1. Mary starts working on my hair at 9am. Another lady starts prepping my daughters hair by curling it....not sure why? 2. Megan reassured me that all we need was 2 hours 9-11am for hair and makeup. It's almost 10am, Mary is wrapping up with my hair and the phone rings. Megan calls the shop NOT me her client to let her mom know that she won't be arriving until 10:30am!!! Ummm, so basically I paid extra for a "glam" look to be rushed and done in 30 mins which should have been done in an hour. I was willing to come in at 8am, but she reassured me we would be done by 11am. In terms of makeup, eye makeup looked great. But I guess the idea of "basic" vs. "glam" was having foundation 2 shades lighter than my skin tone lathered on to my face. And to top that off, no corrector applied to my dark circles. So by the end of my cousins wedding my under eye was all caked on. Thankfully I had my own makeup with me and had to redo my undereye makeup. Even my husband said I did a way better job! Don't get me wrong, I know Megan does a good job with makeup, but maybe not used to working with darker skinned girls and dark circles. But I have worked with PROFESSIONAL MUA's and they have done wonders with making my skin look natural and concealing my dark circles, never had any issues. 3. On to my daughter's hair. Mary asked me what type of braid. I was shocked, I told her that Megan told me she already showed you the pics and that you could do the braid. Mary tells me she never saw any pics!!! So basically I was LIED to about her mom seeing any pics. My poor daughter was tears in the chair for 45 mins getting her hair pulled and teased when all along Mary didn't know how to do the braid. In desperation I asked her to do just any braid. She ended up doing a messy dutch braid. 4. I had to transit from Fremont to San Jose, we were supposed to be done by 11am, we were not finished until 11:45. No respect for my time as a client. Unfortunately, the stress of having to deal with the unresponsiveness, being lied to about sharing the hair pictures with her mom and being able to do them, paying extra for a rushed makeup job and no respect to my time is not worth using or recommending services from here again. read more

if you value your hair whatever you do don't go to this place. In August of last year I went in & spoke to a lady there for a spiral perm. She told oh yes, I've been doing perms for over 30yrs. Now, she knew my hair was colored. The perm came out pretty good kind of tight as usual in the beginning. Within 3 week the back was straight. So I went back to her & she said, Don't worry I'll fix it. She permed the hair again. This time it turned out curly & somewhat straight. Dummy me went back again. She permed it again. THREE PERMS IN LESS THAN 4 MONTHS ON COLOR TREATED HAIR.......My hair was so burned & matted & never returned. Hence I found a wonderful person in Fremont who saved my hair by cutting most of it off into a cute hairstyle. Still have more to cut off. NEVER EVER GO INTO FANTASTIC CUTS IN NEWARK. read more

I have been going here since 2001. Mary colors and cuts my hair. The first time I went to see her, I showed her a picture of Jennifer Aniston's haircut. She colored my hair and cut it just like the picture. I asked her how to style it and she took the time to show me. She sold me the same type of hairbrush she used to style it. The highlights on my hair seem to go to the core of the hair that it gives a lighter and sparkly tint under the sun making the highlights look as if there were three different shades. I love the way she does my hair. Even after I moved to Sacramento area, I still came to Mary to have my hair done. She is very knowledgeable about hair and the different products. There have been other customers with issues of dry hair (like myself) and she gives the right product to help keep your hair healthy and tells you how to use it. Her daughter is very talented with makeup. The staff are very personable. Always smiling. I highly recommend this place. I have been happy for thirteen years and counting. The one thing this hair salon has that others don't is the HAIR CARE that Mary has. If you walk into the salon wanting highlights and low lights. She will do it for you. But if your hair is damaged, she will give you samples and make recommendations and carry out repair at a fair cost. Then she will do as you ask. I've been going here for a few years. I get my hair touched up about every eight weeks and have my highlights redone about every sixteen weeks. I completely trust Nisa with my hair. She's very talented in her craft. I get complimented on my hair regularly and I owe it all to Nisa. It was very difficult to find someone who could work with dark hair. Before I was referred to Nisa, my highlights looked orange or reddish and stylists could never match up the color or blend it so nicely. Often times I would have to get my whole hair colored and highlighted, each time I went in. That is not-the case with Nisa. She can work with thick, dark hair. Nisa knows how to work with colors and she never recommends procedures that are unnecessary. read more

Never in my entire life coming back here again!!Horrible experience. So overpriced with everything, even when you are not pleased with how you look. It was my first time here based on the reviews and didn't even care to make a good first impression. I will tell all my friends and family to avoid this place bc they charge u for the littlest things without even telling u first that they're going to charge you extra. Should've told me that before, I would've went to somebody else. Also the pictures are really deceiving bc they use extra lighting and use flash photography. I'm sorry but if you're going to charge me that much money and If I say that I don't like it you're going to charge me even more money to do it over again , you kind of given me no option but to write a Yelp review to help others out.
