It is like someone either changed the recipe & maybe cut back on the stew ingredients like molasses, pomegranate & walnuts. Its not as savory as years past. Sad!! My mixed thoughts are specifically on my ultimate FAVORITE & ONLY dish I go specifically to Yekta for, Fesenjan. I have ordered and had this for at least 20 years, but later night was 1st time in either 1 or 2 years & I was truly disappointed. It tasted less spectacular, chicken cubes, only found literally 3 cubes for an $18 meal were very dry, tough & had NO flavor of the sauce, so they obviously were thrown in, not simmered for hours in the stew which usually they are & absorb all the wonderful flavors. I may not return much to my husband's dismay. Hubby had 1 of his usuals and LOVED it, Kabob special, both beef & chicken skewers. All rice as side with pita. Ww forgot to ask for salad but he had plenty to eat without. Everyone was friendly, place is well managed. Sorry no pics, got too excited to eat instead.

All I can say is WOW!! From the moment I walked through the door, the beautiful fragrances brought…read moreme back to the Spice Market in Istanbul. Then visually, everything spoke to me, from the displays of imported products, to the cases of nuts in copper bowls, to the freshly prepared take home hot & cold foods at the food order counter to all the varieties of any kind of Mediterranean foods you can think of stocked within all the aisles. And did I mention the pastry counter? OMG, I was in heaven & how did I not know about this place? We came to order a take home dinner after a class we were taking and wanted to try the chicken kabob dinner. We found our way to the order counter despite my obvious distraction of everything around me. Everything on the menu looked SO good and the items in the display case were looking yummy. They had many varieties of Pinsa on display & they were tempting, but we were there for kabobs first. Judging the store/takeout by this simple dish, but very important. They have everything from traditional Persian meals, but also flatbread "pizza" called Pinsa, cheesesteaks etc. I also have been searching for Fesenjan as my usual stop has disappointedly changed the recipe. I inquired if they have it and they DO! The wonderful counter lady offered me a sample & I quickly said, Yes and it was YUMMY!! Just with that, I grew more excited. We decided to also purchase 3 different Baklava from the pastry counter (2 walnut types & 1 Pistachio). When our food was ready, we were handed this HUGE bag, for 2 dinners? 2 almost pizza boxes were in the bag and it was heavy. I kept telling my husband, are you sure this is ours? When we got home I couldn't wait to see what's inside the box. I have NEVER seen such a well packaged take home set up. Food was perfectly presented within the box as well as once we opened the lids, nothing moved. I'm still in awe & appreciate the high level of care in creating the packaging. Shows care for the food & customers. What I didn't expect & great surprise was receiving Shirazi salad and Mast-O-Khiar with our entree order. ALL the food was EXCELLENT, good portion value. I will say the Pistachio baklava was my favorite, but the other walnut baklava was also very good, I would even say THE BEST I've ever had and I've had many from almost everywhere my entire life. Please note that store hours are hour longer than kitchen hours. We just made it before kitchen closed at 8p, which we did not realize. The store looked clean, nicely stocked, very friendly staff and what I could see of the kitchen also clean & orderly. Truly a fantastic experience.

What an absolute hidden gem!…read more Meat was so tender. Vegetables are so fresh. Rice was flavored perfectly. Gigantic portion sizes. Take out spot! And they package their takeout so well! That place is grocery store, with the food being prepared in grocery store! Super fresh and it's being made right in front of you. Really loved the fresh produce of tomatoes and cucumbers which came with my meal. Definitely going to be returning soon!

I had the Combo II (chicken and ground beef - $17.99) and my partner had the Combo III (lamb and ground beef - $19.99). We did each with half rice/salad. (They give you a lot of rice!). Also got an appetizer of hummus ($5.49) with bread and a couple of soft drinks ($3.19 each). The food is delicious. One really noteworthy point here is that the chicken is so moist and tender. At some kabob places, I have a "avoid the chicken policy" because the chunks of chicken are dry and pretty tasteless. They do a nice job on the chicken here. My partner liked the lamb and we both liked the beef, although I think the beef could use more seasoning. The rice is consistently fluffy and the salad is a nice size with a lemon dressing on the side. I love their hummus. Creamy and tasty. When the bread is right out of the oven (as it was last night), it is heavenly with the hummus and also with the yogurt that comes with the entree. But I do think you need to eat the bread quickly - after it sits for a few minutes it starts to harden and loses some flavor. I like the food a lot. The price point seems high to me, but it is a generous serving of meat.

There are five original full-service Cava restaurants in the DMV, two of which are located in Montgomery County. This location and another one in Olney. I don't eat Mediterranean cuisine often, but when I do I am reminded what I am missing out on. Everything I ate (salad, chicken souvlaki, fries, pita bread) felt light, flavorful, and delectable. It's likely one of the healthier cuisines so I should make an effort to have it more frequently when dining out. I hope today's visit will inspire me to eat Mediterranean cuisine and at Cava more often.

Got some new items, including the lamb chops, chicken sliders, and gyros. Still got the scallop risotto. Lamb Chops: Perfectly seasoned and cooked, and loved the crispy potatoes on the bottom. Chicken Sliders: Probably my favorite! They used to have chicken lollipops and I guess these replaced those but I like these better. Chicken was crispy and whatever harissa/aioili they used paired so well. Buns were super fluffy, highly recommend! Gyros: A great deal, for $15 they give you 3 and they were pretty full. Liked the fries inside. Their pita is amazing! Scallop Risotto: Still good, but a very small portion and expensive. Scallops a bit salty, probably wouldn't get again and would try something else instead. I thought 4 plates plus the pita/harissa appetizer was enough. Will be back!
