I figure since I referenced Plato's in my Hut No. 8 review, I should weigh in on Plato's for…read morecomparison. I've been going to Plato's stores across the country for over ten years, mostly for selling. It's how I get money to buy new stuff on my limited budget. I was very happy when they came to Anchorage. First thing you'll notice when walking in is that this place is crammed with stuff. Every nook has clothing displayed in it. It's a bit overwhelming for my shopping style. I mean, I like to browse, but I'm not much of a committed digger. So, that's a bit of a downside for me and one of the reasons I prefer the Hut. Also, as other reviewers note, their clothes are inexpensive, way more so than you'll find at local consignment places, which is great for basics, of which they have a ton (ranging from tees to leggings to jeans to shoes). Old Navy and Gap are common brands. There's some outside gear, too, especially exercise wear, which can be so expensive when new. They have young trendy stuff, à la Wet Seal, American Eagle, etc. But as far as looking for unique but nicer clothes, like middle-road B.P. or Banana Republic, or higher-end designer type stuff, you're generally better off with consignment. Not always, but usually. Their jeans sometimes include some higher-ends brands: I've seen very affordable Seven for All Mankind there, though they were elf-sized. Once, I found a great Calvin Klein dress at a Plato's, but not in AK. The main point is you never know, so why not try? With all they offer in inventory, I still almost never buy here because I find so little for all the browsing. I like selling there, but I agree that they can be inconsistent on buying (they've bought things from me that they once rejected, and their pricing is impossible to decipher). Try consigning first, and you'll make more. Then, take the rest to resale. I'll keep Plato's on my rotation, especially until the Hut builds inventory, and it's worth checking out on your resale shopping journeys.

Worst Platos Closet ever!! I am from Tucson, AZ, where there are more people than the entire State…read moreof Alaska. The ones in Tucson are always buying or giving store credit. This Platos is never buying and seems like never taking clothes at all! I have been trying for over a year to bring clothes and it was alwaysthe same message, "try again in two weeks" and again in two weeks, the same thing for over a year.. then finally it was "we are taking clothes on Sept 8th" I go and guess what... they are too full to accept mine. I am beyond annoyed. I will never go back to Platos again.

Lots of staff, which isn't a problem if you're just a regular shopper and need help with anything…read more If you're here to steal- lol there's lots of staff. It seems like they have problems near closing with shoplifting but are quick to address the situation. But if you're open late in Anchorage, you're going to attract those kind of people. I do like that I can go shopping after the malls close though. Every staff I've interacted with has been helpful to me. From questions on sales and coupons to help finding what I am looking for or price checks. You can find good deals here if you look. Or, if price doesn't matter, they have a ton of selection. I just bought my toddler little Nike shoes for $20 using sale price and $10 bonus cash. When buying kids shoes (and you do have to buy a lot considering they grow so fast) you do need to find good deals. They have a good selection of workout clothes that are different than what other stores offer. Plus I love the buy online and pick up in store option. I wish they had a little more selection for the 30ish women's range, it seems like they have mostly (for women) teenybopper clothes and then straight to 40s+ clothes. But the workout clothing selection keeps me coming back.

This is not a bad Kohls location and it's fairly organized and well maintained compared to other…read morelocations. When we came in we were treated by the security guard who also gave us a shopping cart. Walking around people asked if I needed help finding anything, which was nice to hear because you hear it less and less. I found decor for my playroom and for a great clearance price too it's worth looking in the back. Something I didn't care for was that two or three cashiers at the front were having their own loud conversation that wasn't very appropriate and they did not have the professionalism to cut the convo short for a minute and just resume after we checked out. The young man we had as our cashier though was incredibly professional and ultra polite. I don't go to kohls often but when I do it's typically to buy Nike or Adidas because I know they have it there.

Kohl's - Yah, it says you will get a refund with receipt, what it doesn't say is that it will NOT be for what you paid!!
