I had a major blow out on the highway and was in the process of calling AAA to come change the tire and a Family Towing Co. truck pulled up behind me. I explained I was reaching out to AAA but the driver Tony said he would change my tire for me and didn't ask for anything in exchange. Within 10 minutes I was back on the road! There are good humans out there! Tony rescued me and prevented me from most likely having to wait some time for the road service to come help. Thanks Tony!! read more

Do not use this company for roadside assistance, I just got notified my case has been transferred to another company after an hour of waiting for these people, now I have to wait another 90 mins. No call or anything from them. read more

This company is a fraud, they charged my insurance company for things that were never done. In order to get my car to the body repair shop they had no other choice than to pay it. Please do NOT use Family Towing for anything. read more

Recommended by my dealership when I could not get my car to start. Dispacher was very nice and was able to have a towtruck to me in under an hour. Ed was very efficient and able to jump the battery and get me started, but followed me to the dealership just incase it stalled out on the way. He also found that some animal had made a nest under the hood, which was definitely not helping with my electrical issues. I would definitely use this company again. read more

Absolutely garbage service. Kept changing the times we arranged for them to pick up our vehicle and then would not show up. When we called them we were told that "our schedule is not their concern". Unreal in today's environment. Stay away from this place. read more

Yesterday, I experienced my car over heat for the second time. I was stuck stranded at a BP gas station who knows where. I called about 15 tow companies listed on google and either they didn't answer (yet listed 24/7), the price/rate was $200 or more plus tax and mileage, or the places that did decide to answer their trucks weren't available or working. Family Towing responded and helped me right away. I originally spoke with Richard, who helped get me set up. Very kind and efficient. A voice that makes you feel calm and relieved. I then got my car towed by Jasen, also very friendly and helped me with a ride home next to the tow. It was snowing like crazy and during the coldest time of year. I then received a call from Jo, shared a few laughs and processed a quick payment with her. Overall the staff seemed like a tight knit. I will be referring this company and only this company to my customers, friends and family. Im an insurance agent with Allstate and not having roadside assistance was a disservice to myself. However, for the sake of not affecting my home and auto rates I chose to leave off the membership. I now know this will be my go-to if I ever find myself in a bad situation. Highly recommend this company for towing. read more

When I inevitably blew a tire out clipping a bathtub of a pothole. I sat waiting on a competitor's service for over 4 hours. Insurance switched me to Family Towing and they were there faster than a city light turning red. Sam did a phenomenal job, went above and beyond to get my car to the shop quickly and safely. I'd trust him with my firstborn! Wish I could give his and Family Towing's service more than 5 stars, highly recommend. Serious value in a pinch read more

Thank you. My battery died on March 30, 2026 (luckily it was parked in front of my home). My insurance company suggested Family Towing, Inc, which I agreed to. A gentleman name Ed from the Lisle location showed up on time with the battery and installed it in less than 10 minutes. I want to say Ed was amusing and proficient. Thank you and have a wonderful day. V Jones. read more

My husband and I used this company to tow our vehicle from our home to a shop. As the driver is taking the vehicle off the flatbed the bumper bends and not sure what damages are caused since we need to have someone look at it especially since this bumper was replaced couple months ago. I called the office and Richie answered telling me that the bumper isn't damaged and starts screaming at me and telling me it's not my car it's my husband's car. Accused me of wanting something for nothing. I didn't ask him for anything I was trying to have him be aware of what had happened and if there's damages that need to be fixed how do we handle it. He didn't let me speak I offered to send him the video he refused telling me he has photos of it. Yelling at me the whole time and being disrespectful. I don't recommend this towing company to anyone not even my worst enemy. I have attached a video of what happened read more

Family towing was great. I spoke with the owner and he was incredibly helpful. He even took the time to teach me some things about my car and my tires. He really went above and beyond. Tony the truck driver who picked up my car, was super helpful too and made sure I was taken care of. 10/10 recommend them. read more

The service was amazing. Tony Rilley knew what he was doing. Was helpful and even ended up solving my car issues. The value of his help goes above and beyond and the truck he used was a work horse. What a joke of a company. The fact that the tow truck driver came was very rude and unprofessional and then got upset picked up materials and left did not want to help out at all. I called the company and they're blaming everything on me as if I can designate where my car can break down. All I asked for was a little time to figure out how to push my car out without their assistance but no they got upset and because I didn't want to push it out before they arrive on a main highway street and block the entrance to my building which neither is allowed. I waited for 2 hours for them and then for him just to leave . Unprofessional, unacceptable. I made sure that my insurance never deals with them again or anyone I know. This is a stressful situation and your job is to assist and help not make it worse . Thank god for other wondering towing companies that are will to help ppl . read more

Fast, professional service. I was picked up by Richie, the company's owner, when there was an issue with the truck that another company had dispatched to my broken down car. Richie hooked up the vehicle and towed it from Chicago to Skokie. Great conversation on the way! Would definitely recommend. read more

I've been meaning to give this business the biggest shout out on here. I was struck by bad timing and lack of resources due to the pandemic which resulted in the serpentine belt snapping on me during the hottest day over the summer. I was devastated. I've been through some rough scenarios before with cars but nothing like this. The tow and the driver showed up faster than the insurance app predicted, I was in Edison Park so if you're in Edison Park/Park Ridge/Des Plaines, I would like 11/10 times recommend you calling these professionals first. All I remember is that the tow truck driver made me laugh and helped me emotionally turn my day and mood about the car situation, if you have to drive for a living, you've been in my work shoes. Really thankful for this company being in business and I wish them all the best and I would definitely refer and return to do business with them again and again. read more

Jason was very professional and picked us up at the towing location on time. He was extremely helpful and provided us guidance and assistance. We were greatful to have someone like him help us out in the middle of the night. Absolutely recommend this establishment and Jason! read more

Absolutely could not be happier that Allstate sent Family towing! My Range rover stopped and I knew the dealer warned me about the battery. So it was no surprise. They let me know every step of the way! They sent pictures and stayed in communication until they dropped it at the Jaguar dealership! I will try an request them in the future because they were everything! They made sure they came flatbed prepared and sent a picture to let me know my truck was secured! They dropped it off and again sent pictures. Tow truck companies get such a bad reputation so I wanted to be sure I spoke up when a tow company did good! Marcus was extremely helpful and put my mind at ease that my truck is safe and secured! Thank you guys! You are awesome! read more

Family Towing - Towing Near Me

I would highly recommend Family Towing Inc. Quick and courteous service. They have my business anytime.

These guys are not gentlemen of leisure. They are hard-working people who deal with you when YOU are having a bad day. Maybe it is a car accident during a blizzard, maybe your car does not start in a bad part of town, or maybe it is 70 degrees and sunny. Alex from Family Towing showed up EARLY, was funny, calming, and professional. Hooked up my car, and followed me as I drove my wife's car through Skokie back to my home so I could fix my car in my driveway. (He ignored a lady at a stop light yelling that he was speeding. This is my neighborhood and Mom raised me right- I don't speed, and neither did Alex. The tow truck engine is a turbo diesel- it revs up and whistles- it is not speeding at 35 mph.) Alex lowered the car, greeted my wife as she came outside, and wished me well. The nice thing about having State Farm's emergency towing coverage is that is costs me about $10 a year, and that Alex from Family Towing is part of this network. These guys work hard for little money- often in dangerous conditions. If they are not polished like a Nordstrom Sales Manager- cut them some slack. Job well done! Thank you! read more

Car broke down on a Wednesday afternoon here in Chicago. Set up a roadside claim through my insurance company, and got a text from my insurance company assigning me to Family Towing with an ETA of 1.5 hours. Really not something I want to hear when I'm sitting on the side of the road with a smoking car in near freezing weather but okay, I guess it's whoever my insurance company has a contract with. 45 minutes go by and I decide to give Family Towing a call after reading reviews about no shows from Family Towing. A super friendly dispatcher answers, confirms that I have a an ETA of 6:20 pm, and that I'll be next after a job ahead of me. He suggests leaving my car unlocked and letting the tow operator handle everything, but I decline. 6:20 pm comes and goes, and no sign of Family Towing. I call Family Towing, and the dispatcher picks up. After 10 minutes on hold, he finally gets in contact with the driver, who is on my way to me but stuck in traffic at Foster on the Kennedy. Again, the dispatcher suggests leaving my car and keys behind; given that Google Maps is estimating another 40 minutes before the driver arrives, I agree, and leave the doors unlocked, keys in the car, and the address of my mechanic. I was super nervous about leaving my car unlocked and unattended, so I stopped by later that night at my mechanic. But sure enough, my car was there, locked, and my mechanic retrieved the keys from his dropbox the next morning. Although I had to keep calling the dispatcher for updates, especially once they missed their ETA, he was super helpful and friendly throughout the process, and Family Towing delivered my car to the mechanic. read more

I had dealt with another towing company who did a horrible job and said they towed my car when they really didn't so I spent days looking for it to find out it was never towed!! FAMILY TOWING did an AWESOME job towing my car!! I didn't have the keys and it was locked but they were able to tow my car anyway!! They were quick and the tow truck driver TONY REILLY was amazing, great guy who will do anything to get the job done!! This was the best tow truck service I have ever had to deal with!! Thank you again Tony you're the best!! read more

This is a company I've used 3-4times in the last decade or so and they always come through. The rates, service and turnaround times are tremendous! Whether its the office, driver's or dispatchers they always have one thing in mind, the customers needs. Nothing puts a person who is feeling lost due to vehicle failure like another person who empathizes and delivers on their promise. I broke down in Peopria on a Friday afternoon last week and 6 different local tow companies told me that I'd have to wait until Saturday to get towed...Family had a driver headed my was 30 minutes later. Too bad the front seats aren't more comfortable.... read more

Stranded with my car after work, struggled to find a tow truck and Family Towing saved me! Dispatch was extremely nice and kept me updated for the hour or so that I had to wait. Writing another review because this company is just HORRIBLE. Total scumbags. Showed up to tow my car, got angry that it was in a parking garage and took off. Chicago is a big city with many other options for vehicle towing make sure that you NEVER call these guys. read more

Thanks for wasting my time, Family Towing! First I get quoted a 2 hour wait for a tow - okay, that's pretty average, I was expecting that. I'm told I'll get a call ten minutes before arrival. Ten minutes after the latest arrival time I was quoted, my insurance co. calls to follow up that I was satisfied with the service. I then hear, via the insurance rep, first that "they came by but were turned away", then "they called but your husband said you had already taken the car to the dealership in suburb X" , and finally "they will come back in another hour and a half but only if you pay an extra $50 out of pocket". Even if they made an honest mistake and dialed a wrong number, and the person answering decided to mess with them, how would anyone know that I was going to a dealership in suburb X? Answer: THEY WOULDN'T. Dishonest - do not recommend. read more

OK...so not only do I have no idea who these guys are, I didn't even call them personally. My car broke down in my parking garage at my apartment (one floor below ground level - what a pain in the ass) and thanks to my roadside assistance through Progressive, I was signed up to get a tow from Family Towing. I set up a time with them to be towed and they called me 30 minutes before they were arriving to get specific details as to where my garage was, what was wrong with the car, etc. Having dealt with towing companies before, I was ready to not only wait more than 30 minuts, but be met by someone who hated their job and life. Instead, I had the fortunate pleasure of having the owner, a super friendly guy who had been towing for longer than I have been driving, tow my car. He took his charger-pack down into the garage with me so I could show him what he was working with, and was able to start my car and drive it out before hooking it up to the wrecker. I was going to have him tow my car to the closest garage since I don't know anyone in Chicago. He recommended another shop and told me what he thought was wrong with my car. I listened to him and had my car towed to the other place he recommended (and was SOOOOO glad I took his advice). He didn't waste any time hooking up my car, and even recommended some other stuff I could get quoted on my car about. I know that sometimes guys will take advantage of women and their knowledge of cars. I didn't feel like I was being swindled at all. Not only that, but on a Friday night, I had my car towed in less than 30 minutes. I'm hoping I won't ever have to have my car towed in Chicago again, but if I do... I'm asking my Roadside Assistance to call these guys. read more

Had the first flat on my rear right tire and State Farm dispatched Road America. 1:04 am. My only qualm was all the q & a that took 18 minutes and an additional 10 to dispatch the towing company. Still she told me Family Towing is coming withing 45 minutes. To my surprise he made it in 20. Ray noticed my tire was stuck he pulled out his mal lot and she slipped off smoothly. As a courtesy he wd40'd..lubed the bolts and slipped my lovely donought on my car. Ray took 7 min. ..I thanked him and he and his flatbed were outy. He didn't wait for me to tip but he sure as hell deserved it. Thanks Family Towing & Thankyou Ray for your timeliness. read more

Thankfully this was the first time I've had to rely on a towing company, and I'm so glad Family Towing was the company I went with. Very friendly and reasonably priced, and they also went above and beyond to find the best mechanic to send my car to since I don't have a regular mechanic in the area yet. It was Saturday so all the shops were closed, but they did the work to call to see if anyone was open. They also called me back with recommendations for mechanics they've worked with and trust who won't try to overcharge or suggest work that isn't needed. While I hope I don't need a tow anytime in the near future, I'll definitely be calling Family Towing if I do. read more
