Yesterday, I experienced my car over heat for the second time. I was stuck stranded at a BP gas station who knows where. I called about 15 tow companies listed on google and either they didn't answer (yet listed 24/7), the price/rate was $200 or more plus tax and mileage, or the places that did decide to answer their trucks weren't available or working. Family Towing responded and helped me right away. I originally spoke with Richard, who helped get me set up. Very kind and efficient. A voice that makes you feel calm and relieved. I then got my car towed by Jasen, also very friendly and helped me with a ride home next to the tow. It was snowing like crazy and during the coldest time of year. I then received a call from Jo, shared a few laughs and processed a quick payment with her. Overall the staff seemed like a tight knit. I will be referring this company and only this company to my customers, friends and family. Im an insurance agent with Allstate and not having roadside assistance was a disservice to myself. However, for the sake of not affecting my home and auto rates I chose to leave off the membership. I now know this will be my go-to if I ever find myself in a bad situation. When I inevitably blew a tire out clipping a bathtub of a pothole. I sat waiting on a competitor's service for over 4 hours. Insurance switched me to Family Towing and they were there faster than a city light turning red. Sam did a phenomenal job, went above and beyond to get my car to the shop quickly and safely. Recommended by my dealership when I could not get my car to start. Dispacher was very nice and was able to have a towtruck to me in under an hour. Ed was very efficient and able to jump the battery and get me started, but followed me to the dealership just incase it stalled out on the way. He also found that some animal had made a nest under the hood, which was definitely not helping with my electrical issues. I would definitely use this company again. read more

My husband and I used this company to tow our vehicle from our home to a shop. As the driver is taking the vehicle off the flatbed the bumper bends and not sure what damages are caused since we need to have someone look at it especially since this bumper was replaced couple months ago. I called the office and Richie answered telling me that the bumper isn't damaged and starts screaming at me and telling me it's not my car it's my husband's car. Accused me of wanting something for nothing. I didn't ask him for anything I was trying to have him be aware of what had happened and if there's damages that need to be fixed how do we handle it. He didn't let me speak I offered to send him the video he refused telling me he has photos of it. Yelling at me the whole time and being disrespectful. What a joke of a company. The fact that the tow truck driver came was very rude and unprofessional and then got upset picked up materials and left did not want to help out at all. I called the company and they're blaming everything on me as if I can designate where my car can break down. All I asked for was a little time to figure out how to push my car out without their assistance but no they got upset and because I didn't want to push it out before they arrive on a main highway street and block the entrance to my building which neither is allowed. I waited for 2 hours for them and then for him just to leave . Unprofessional, unacceptable. I made sure that my insurance never deals with them again or anyone I know. I've been meaning to give this business the biggest shout out on here. I was struck by bad timing and lack of resources due to the pandemic which resulted in the serpentine belt snapping on me during the hottest day over the summer. I was devastated. I've been through some rough scenarios before with cars but nothing like this. The tow and the driver showed up faster than the insurance app predicted, I was in Edison Park so if you're in Edison Park/Park Ridge/Des Plaines, I would like 11/10 times recommend you calling these professionals first. These guys are not gentlemen of leisure. They are hard-working people who deal with you when YOU are having a bad day. Maybe it is a car accident during a blizzard, maybe your car does not start in a bad part of town, or maybe it is 70 degrees and sunny. Alex from Family Towing showed up EARLY, was funny, calming, and professional. Hooked up my car, and followed me as I drove my wife's car through Skokie back to my home so I could fix my car in my driveway. (He ignored a lady at a stop light yelling that he was speeding. This is my neighborhood and Mom raised me right- I don't speed, and neither did Alex. The tow truck engine is a turbo diesel- it revs up and whistles- it is not speeding at 35 mph.) Alex lowered the car, greeted my wife as she came outside, and wished me well. The nice thing about having State Farm's emergency towing coverage is that is costs me about $10 a year, and that Alex from Family Towing is part of this network. Car broke down on a Wednesday afternoon here in Chicago. Set up a roadside claim through my insurance company, and got a text from my insurance company assigning me to Family Towing with an ETA of 1.5 hours. Really not something I want to hear when I'm sitting on the side of the road with a smoking car in near freezing weather but okay, I guess it's whoever my insurance company has a contract with. 45 minutes go by and I decide to give Family Towing a call after reading reviews about no shows from Family Towing. A super friendly dispatcher answers, confirms that I have a an ETA of 6:20 pm, and that I'll be next after a job ahead of me. He suggests leaving my car unlocked and letting the tow operator handle everything, but I decline. 6:20 pm comes and goes, and no sign of Family Towing. I call Family Towing, and the dispatcher picks up. After 10 minutes on hold, he finally gets in contact with the driver, who is on my way to me but stuck in traffic at Foster on the Kennedy. Again, the dispatcher suggests leaving my car and keys behind; given that Google Maps is estimating another 40 minutes before the driver arrives, I agree, and leave the doors unlocked, keys in the car, and the address of my mechanic. I was super nervous about leaving my car unlocked and unattended, so I stopped by later that night at my mechanic. But sure enough, my car was there, locked, and my mechanic retrieved the keys from his dropbox the next morning. Although I had to keep calling the dispatcher for updates, especially once they missed their ETA, he was super helpful and friendly throughout the process, and Family Towing delivered my car to the mechanic. read more

This is a company I've used 3-4times in the last decade or so and they always come through. The rates, service and turnaround times are tremendous! Whether its the office, driver's or dispatchers they always have one thing in mind, the customers needs. Nothing puts a person who is feeling lost due to vehicle failure like another person who empathizes and delivers on their promise. Thankfully this was the first time I've had to rely on a towing company, and I'm so glad Family Towing was the company I went with. Very friendly and reasonably priced, and they also went above and beyond to find the best mechanic to send my car to since I don't have a regular mechanic in the area yet. It was Saturday so all the shops were closed, but they did the work to call to see if anyone was open. They also called me back with recommendations for mechanics they've worked with and trust who won't try to overcharge or suggest work that isn't needed. I've used Family Towing a few times. I've always had a great experience with them. This last time my son's car just gave out due to a transmission problem. I checked my phone and sure enough I had saved their contact information from the last time I needed their help. They sent out a truck fairly quick and before long the car was at the mechanic getting serviced. The driver suggested I might want to file a claim with my insurance and get reimbursed for the service. I took that advise and State Farm covered the tow. read more

So unprofessional. The driver shows up first of all smoking, and asks me to put my car in neutral. When I told him my car was dead he jumped it. I need a new alternator so when I put my key in, my car started but wouldn't move. And when he said stick your key in I said it is and then he started yelling YOU'RE NOT LISTENING TO ME.
