Buckner does not take responsibility for missing residents…read more My parents moved into Buckner Villas assisted living in early 2023. They settled in and generally appreciated the staff and the environment. Their complaints were minor. On a warm Saturday morning in June 2023 they signed out of BV on the resident log stating that they were headed "out to breakfast." After breakfast, they went to their home to retrieve a few items as they were preparing to sell the home. Mom fell around lunchtime on Saturday on the back patio. My step-dad is cognitively and mobility impaired and his phone was not charged so he could not seek assistance. Buckner did not notice that they missed lunch on Saturday. Or dinner. Or medicines on Saturday evening. Bucker did not notice that they missed breakfast on Sunday as well as lunch, dinner, and medicines on Sunday evening. A reasonably careful employee should have checked the log at each point and asked whether "breakfast" should last that long. A reasonably careful employee would have called mom or my step-dad to see if they were ok. A reasonably careful employee would have called me to check her phone's location or trace their steps. Buckner did none of these things. A neighbor notified us that the garage door had been open for more than a day and we discovered my mother had passed away and my step-dad was barely responsive. We returned my step-dad to Buckner at around 11pm and Buckner refused to administer his medicines saying he had already been given medicines for the evening. That was a lie (to cover someone's tracks) and a dangerous lie because he needed his medicines. If you have family at Buckner Villas assisted living, make sure you have some way to monitor them independently.

Plenty of cabinet space and drawers. The kitchen also has a large double stainless steel sink and faucet. The wall across from the kitchen has a large closet for storage and also a full size GE washing machine and dryer. The living room has plenty of room for a large recliner, a grandfather clock, a 65 inch Samsung TV and a large double door cabinet where I have my 27 inch iMac computer. Between the recliner and outside wall I also have a 36"x36" pedestal table, where I have a large hammered copper lamp with shade. The two walls forming the corner behind the recliner and grandfather clock, have two large glass windows covered by Venetian blinds. Moving through the lockable door into the bedroom there is room enough for a queen sized bed, and a three drawer cabinet with lamp. The outside wall has a large window covered with Venetian blinds. Sliding double doors lead into a closet with plenty of room for hanging shirts, and with shelves that hold baskets for socks, and underwear. Under the shelf on the right there is room for a large four drawer cabinet where I can store pajamas and a large collection of various shoes. A single sliding door leads into a spacious bathroom, complete with a shower, toilet, and lavatory. There are two spacious cabinets and drawers next to the shower. Another reason I picked this third floor apartment is that it is located next to the fire escape stairs. I never use the elevators because I like the exercise I get walking up and down the stairs. My apartment is also located at the very end of this wing of The Reserve apartment complex. Consequently I don't hear or see any of my neighbors. Thanks for your time and attention. I name names hear only for the purpose of solidifying the veracity of my experience points. My first experience of Legend Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation - North Austin, after I was transported there by a major and esteemed hospital in the Austin area, after having fallen down some stairs. After a couple of weeks there I was transferred out to a more intensive physical therapy center (Encompass Health) where I experienced rop notch care. This was in contrast to the shipshod care Ii experienced at Legends Oaks Rehabilitation. f After rwo weeks at Encompass, I was transported back to Legend Oaks Healthcare where the real horror began. My roommate, Gus Guerra, a patient who's body made the corpses of Holocaust victims look good, repeatedly paged staff through the button that lights up a signal above the room, when he was in distress , was repeatedly ignored. He was literally skin and bones and was voided by the staff as though he was contagious which he was not. At one point he was in screaming because he was in pain and and freezing. He called for a nurse, for a blanket, and was told that there were no blankets. He was shivering to the point that I thought he was siezing. Finally, I reached into my duffle bag where I had a sports blanket ( a small thing that people use at sporting events) and covered him up. A nurses aid saw me do this and she smiled and nodded her approval. I asked her why no one would bring him a blanket and she just stared at me offering no response.l, other than to say there were no blankets available. This in an institution with hundreds of patients. A few hours later he died. No doubt that the lack of care was, at least, a contributing factor. My own experience was that: 1. I almost never received my medication at the times and in the ways it was prescribed. 2. When I brought this to the attention of the assistant director, Leonard, and to direct care staff 3. the complaints were dismissed with a defensive attitude. 4. I once fell off my bed and landed on the floor with my upper torso torqued above my lower body. I pressed the button for assistance, no one responded. It was my lower back that brought me to Legends, yet, no one came. Yet, I could hear the Spanish speaking nurse's aides right outside my door, speaking Spanish. As a Spanish speaker myself in could here their conversation in detail. Yet, they ignored my cries for help for a half an hour, and left me to lie on the floor in pain. When I tearfully told the night nurse's aide (Ansah) what happened, he said, "I'm not surprised. This kind of thing happens here all the time.". When I told the assistant director this (Leonard ) he was clearly out for Ansah's ass for telling the truth. 5. Though it bills itself as a physical therapy center, it was not that. Although that was the reason I was there, I received physical therapy for about 20 minutes a day and that consisted mostly of putting Ice packs on my back. Something I could have easily done at home. Folks, if you care about yourselves and your loves ones, DO NOT, send them to Legends Oaks Rehabilitation. It is a death sentence and robbery of your funds.

My resident had surgery and they told no one about it. They also do not pay attention to their residents, they told us that my resident fell off their bed but no they actually slipped on water and went to the hospital. They also lie about doctors visiting and if you have a paid appointment for the salon to get hair dyed, nails done, toes done. They will take the money and not do anything they said they would do. Even after you call them to tell them "hey, I paid for my residents hair and nails to be done" they will say they'll look into it and do nothing about it. Every time I visit my resident, their nails (toes and fingers) are extremely long. We tell them to cut them several times they do NOT. We pay to have them remind my resident to to shower, to wear pads, to brush their hair, brush their teeth. Every time we visited they were filthy, and their room smelt like urine. This has happened for the past year now. They also do not tell you if your resident is out of shampoo or conditioner. My resident was pre diabetic and we had told them they can't have too many sweets. She gained over 50 pounds within the first few months she was there and is now obese and diabetic. This wouldn't have happened if they monitored and paid attention like we've been paying them to do. We complained and tried to get this resolved several times and were nice about it since we don't want them to take it out on our resident. We have wasted so much money that we basically do not have just for them to not do their job. This place is unhygienic and neglectful. Senior living advisers who get PAID to give out recommendations don't even recommend them anymore because they're so bad. Adding to my review because they also failed to notify us that my resident has fallen on multiple occasions and also never mentioned my resident has parkinson's disease which worsens dementia and put my resident on an anti psychotic which by the way WORSENS fall rate. My review was originally magically taken down Isn't that funny?

Hi, I just wanted to thank you and all of the staff for making such a wonderful Holiday Season, great Holiday dinners, beautiful decorations and everything else you did to make everyone happy and thankful. We had the most beautiful decorations and the nicest Christmas Tree I have ever seen. You may not realize how much you added to everyone's joyful celebration, but you did. I sent pictures of our decorations to everyone in my family and they loved them too. Most of my family do not live here, but the pictures brought us together. These are the types of things that made me want to come live here. It is because you care, very much, about all of the residents, and we can tell. You don't have to do these things. You do them because you want to and that is what makes them special. This year, if you are looking for volunteers to decorate or anything else for the holidays, please let me know. I would really like to help. It has been many years since I decorated for the holidays. So, if you are looking for a place to live and need a little help from time to time, The Clairmont may be the right place for you. It is the perfect place for me.

There was a problem with the facility apartment insurance request. I paid and submitted the forms about a month prior to move-in and the first bill over 6 weeks later included a fee for not having insurance. I tried contacting the billing office and requested a call back to get things clarified. This did not happen and the problem was not fixed. I again went to Francine who has been my anchor at the Clairmont to get problems fixed. I finally received approval of the policy on October 17th but I had submitted the information in early August! In addition the bill itself was incorrect. The dinning room food has improved, per my father, but the utensils are still awful! I do wish your administrative staff would try using the forks at the facility and imagine that they have arthritis in their hands as these residents frequently do. My dad does better with most plastic forks than the forks supplied at the Clairmont. Please, this should be an easy upgrade. One thing we really appreciate is the ability to have a pet and to have a fenced "yard" area outside of their apartment. I think this adds a homey feel for many of the residents. Better water access would be a plus for those with outside plants. You have outside waste bins for doggy waste but no plastic bags at the one outside of the building for the last 6 weeks. Your showers do not have safety bars inside of the shower, Since most of the residents at this facility use walkers, canes or wheelchairs, why do you think it unnecessary to have a safety bar inside of the shower? This would be a considerate and wise upgrade for the apartments. Overall, we (the family) really like this facility and the people who live and work there. My Dad is still adjusting......
