Even though this same identical item was less expensive at Dollar General (only by fifty cents, but still), I decided to purchase this small storage container at this Family Dollar this evening (August 28, 2017).
Upon the completion on the transaction, the clerk asked if I wanted a receipt because the printer wasn't working. I told her yes. She proceed to write a receipt by hand. I told her that would not qualify as a legitimate receipt. She got an attitude and said that I should have known that receipts weren't printing because I CLEARLY SAW that the customer in front of me didn't get a receipt. One, I didn't see that at all and even if I did, I would not assume that their machine was malfunctioning (which I relayed to her). She continued to show how sadly lacking in intelligence she is, and started telling me to not raise my voice because she didn't raise her voice at me. I told her that she can't make it my fault that the machine is malfunctioning by holding me accountable for not knowing or not 'paying attention' and not expect me to raise my voice, plus she's not my mother.
As she went back and forth with a grand array of incompetence, unplugging cords and flipping switches off and on to allegedly restart the machine, she repeats her claim to a co-worker that I clearly saw that the customer in front of me didn't get a receipt. I didn't not respond: I refused to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person. It seemed she was stalling to attempt to aggravate me with a long wait (although I can't prove this). She never apologized for the machine malfunction or me having to wait for a receipt (surprise, surprise).
Individuals like her set back those fighting for a higher minimum wage. She is doubly ignorant, as in unlearned and uncouth. That store must do an awful lot of business to be able to afford all of the customers she'll drive away. Her conduct was tasteless and outrageous. I will be calling the manager on tomorrow. I will be calling the main headquarters, also. I will be yelping to my family and friends and anyone who will listen because word of mouth is truly the best advertisement. read more
