That welcoming, family feeling really set the tone for our entire visit! Angel & Vilma Delgadillo's Original Route 66 Gift Shop and historic barbershop was one of the absolute must-do anchor stops of the Grand Canyon/Route 66 weekend I took with my 11-year-old son, Jake. Before our trip, we had learned the story of Angel Delgadillo and how he spearheaded the grassroots effort to preserve Historic Route 66 after Interstate 40 bypassed Seligman. He helped organize the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona and played such an important role not only in revitalizing his hometown, but in preserving a treasured piece of Americana and American history for future generations. The story resonated with Jake so much that he chose Angel as the person he wanted to profile for his sixth-grade Hispanic Heritage Month social studies project. So imagine how special it was when we arrived and discovered that Angel's daughter Clarissa was there -- and that Jake actually got to interview her for his project! Clarissa could not have been sweeter or more gracious with him. She seemed genuinely touched that a kid Jake's age knew who her dad was, was interested in what he had accomplished, and had traveled to Seligman wanting to learn more about him. Watching the two of them talk was one of those travel moments I know I'll remember for a very long time. The historic barbershop itself is fantastic. Angel began his barbering career in 1947 and ultimately spent 75 years barbering along Route 66 before retiring in 2022. Being able to stand inside his actual barbershop, see his barber chair, photographs, awards, memorabilia and pieces of his life story made the history feel incredibly tangible. Jake and I both took pictures in the barber chair next to Angel's image, and I got an especially wonderful photo of Clarissa taking a picture of Jake sitting in her dad's chair. We also learned from Clarissa that Angel played--and still plays---alto saxophone, and one of his saxophones is displayed on the wall. That was another wonderful coincidence for us because Jake just started playing alto saxophone himself this school year. We had no idea about that connection before visiting. The gift shop is also genuinely fun, with a great selection of Route 66 souvenirs and memorabilia. Jake particularly loved browsing all the different gift-shop items, and I loved the murals outside and all of the wonderful photo opportunities around the property. But what really distinguishes this place is the people. Everyone working there seemed genuinely happy to be there and proud to help preserve the story of Angel, Vilma, the Delgadillo family, Seligman and Route 66. Nothing about it felt like just another tourist gift shop. It felt like being welcomed into a living piece of Route 66 history. For us, this wasn't simply a stop to buy a souvenir. It was one of the most meaningful experiences of our entire Route 66 weekend, and I'm especially grateful to Clarissa for taking the time to make Jake's visit something he'll probably remember for the rest of his life. An absolute must-stop in Seligman for anyone who cares about Route 66, American history, or the people who fought to preserve it.

There was a really nice young man who was helping out around the restaurant and gave us (we're older, seniors) a great feeling about the future of America. The young man was professional, friendly, engaging and I could tell helpful to the other employees. I have a feeling if we come back in 20 years he'll be running the place. :) We had the Dead Meat Treat, omelet, hashbrowns and 2 buttermilk pancakes. The food was delicious and we got some cool photos and, of course, our Passport stamp.

It definitely embraces the "roadkill" theme, with all of the decorations around the inside, as well as all of the fun names. The place has this "roadhouse" vibe. In addition to the restaurant, they also have a gift shop, of course, with all kinds of neat souvenirs, Route 66 and otherwise. I got my sister-in-law a "roadkill Café" shot glass, and I had to get a roadkill Café T-shirt for myself. We had the "one eyed dog got hit in the fog." very generous portions of rib sticking good food. We really enjoyed our breakfast. The price was reasonable. The employees were very friendly, and they came by regularly to check on us. Thanks for a fun and very good breakfast.

One of the watches is a gold, eco-drive model that I purchased from them 15 years ago. It still looks good and keeps time as if it were brand new. My…read morehusband passed away on Monday and I wanted to have his wedding band resized into a thumb ring for me and have our original engagement ring reset as the diamond had fallen out. Upon going into the store we saw many workers in there but no one seemed to care they had a customer, we were finally acknowledged by an older lady with dark hair (I wish I would of got her name) she was very rude from the beginning even with us telling her what and why we needed it done, she said in the very beginning "I don't think we can do that, but I'll ask the jeweler" after going to the back with my rings for what seemed like forever she came back out and rudely told us if he did it you'd be able to tell where he cut it and that to reset my ring it would be over $400 - it wasn't about the price it was about the absolute rudeness we received from her from the minute we walked in. I had lost my husband 2 days before that, it was hard enough going out in public but when she showed no care in the world like we were just ruining her day by being there. We decided they did not deserve our business. We decided to check another nearby jeweler while we were down there. He was the nicest guy, he quoted us a price less than half of what Raskins quoted us and had it done in an hour! It was done perfectly and NO you can not tell where he had to cut it. He even saved the piece he cut out for me! He showed remorse in why we needed it done and actually gave a shit. Sorry Raskin but you have lost my business forever. I do not usually do reviews, as I also have businesses and hate bed reviews but you earned this one. Hire people who care and like their job! Sincerely, A morning family
