Angel and Vilma Delgadillo, Original Owners [Seligman AZ] I wasn't aware of the history of this store and since I had already purchased most of my souvenirs at another gift shop down the street we just took a look inside, formerly Angel's barbershop and pool hall, now a gift shop. Who is Angel Delgadillo? This man was credited for saving Route 66 in Arizona! Yes, wow... I was intrigued about his story! Before I-40 was erected Seligman saw 9,000 vehicles moved through the town every day, stopping at the businesses, restaurants, service stations, and motels in town. When a section of I-40 opened south of town a deathly stillness fell on this main drag. With the expansion of the Interstate 40, there seemed to be no more need for the old road... in 1985, U.S. 66 was officially decertified. Whaat? All signs were taken down and it was removed from maps. So sad! Sorry, you'd have to research the rest of the story yourself on the internet... As we entered the modest shop the interior is quite small and compact inside. It got crowded inside especially with two bus full of tourists!!! We perused the souvenirs and many apparel merchandise for sale. There are t-shirts, magnets, shot glasses, postcards, mugs, and just about anything you might want to collect. To the right is a tiny small space Angel used as his barbershop. After his retirement, the barbershop portion of the shop was converted to a museum, celebrating his and Seligman's legacy on Route 66. It is filled with photos, antiques, and memorabilia, including his antique barber chair with a cardboard cutout of Angel himself. I visited the small town of Seligman, Arizona with my family in the spring of 2025. This is one of the best small towns to visit EVER. And I made my visit even better by checking out the Route 66 Gift Shop. If I could stay in this town all weekend long, I would. The Delgadillo family is really friendly and so are the other employees that work here. I saw the barber shop chair, the many business cards and license plates. I also learned all about Route 66 history and the Cars filmmakers' visit to this gift shop. More than two-thirds of the items for sale are made in AMERICA. This is one of America's greatest success stories. If you love Route 66 so much please visit this amazing gift shop! read more

This a must stops along Route 66. They have snacks, souvenirs , and great collection of antiques and memorabilia. The restroom is clean and only for customers. The lady at the register is very pleasant and welcoming. I didn't get her name but she said she bought the place in 1987. There are also plenty of picture opportunities around the stores. This is the center of the universe if you are a route 66 enthusiast like me. The shop itself is covered in items of interest, including celebrity photographs, license plates from around the United States in the world, and various other knickknacks. Angel's barbershop has been kept intact, including the barber chair. You're invited to sit in the chair and take a photograph if you wish. I had the chance to visit with Maurizio, who is so friendly and made me feel very welcome. They emphasize that roughly 85% of the items for sale are made in the United States. If you're out getting your kicks on Route 66, this needs to be one of your stops. Souvenirs, some snacks and a great collection of antiques and memorabilia to look at--this place is great! I found a perfect magnet for my refridgerator, and there were t-shirts, mugs, shot glasses and keychains too! There was a restroom inside for customers only. It was clean but definitely on the tiny side. But if you've gotta go, it will do fine. Outside, there was plenty to see. I especially liked the VW van with hundreds of autographs on it. A cute and nostalgic little place, complete with quirky signs, antiques, and route 66 merch...I'm a sucker for merch. There are plenty of picture opportunities around the store. Their cute little dog seems to have become their mascot. So creeky and musty I'm suprised they even take credit cards, though I'm happy that they do. I have a feeling tour busses have made some sort of agreement with the place the way our tour guide talked up the store on our way there. So I bought my merch, grabbed a complimentary coffee, took some pics, and headed out. The only thing that has scarred my experience with this place is the following: the lady at the counter flagged a man from the store down and told him to keep an eye on a darker skinned man in dreadlocks to make sure he isn't stealing anything. That gentleman with dreadlocks was part of our bus tour and he was very nice. Racist much? I leave this caveat with you so that you can be wary of the store owners when you visit. read more

This is cute little shop we stopped by on our way to the Grand Canyon. It is the Original Route 66 gift shop store/ memorabilia & visitors center opened by the Delgadillos. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by one of the store clerks who was glad to tell us a little history about the shop. I was amazed by how dedicated the Delgadillos were committed to keep the place running. The store itself has a vintage feel which I thought was cool. There is a wide variety of gift items/ souvenirs you can purchase. Also like the other reviews say, there is a barber shop inside the store and it looks a lot like a set from 1950s. The store clerks were very friendly and helpful. I was looking for a souvenir plate because my mom collects those. They didn't have many but the one I got was pretty neat. Another great thing about this store is that they offer free coffee and free restrooms. I know drinking coffee in the heat may seem like something crazy to do but if you are driving long hours BELIEVE me you will need that extra cup of java. If you are driving through Seligman, on Route 66 you need to stop by this store/visitor center because you will be amazed by how much history this place has. It was hands down worth the stop. This is a very wonderful and cute little shop. According to our tour guide Lankun, Angel is a 96 year old legend who worked tirelessly to establish Route 66 as a historic highway. Yes, Angel is still very much alive. Unfortunately, none of us (the tour group) saw him last Sunday morning as he was not at the shop. This place has all kinds of Route 66 souvenirs. Hats, DVD's, Shirts, Pens, Cups, Bells, etc. Besides all the souvenirs, there is the barber shop. And yes, Angel still cuts people's hairs. The folks who works here were extremely excellent and very welcoming. As a matter of fact, one of them said that there was a bunch of Japanese tourists who went crazy when they spotted a famous Japanese personality the day before. They also told us that they had no idea who the famous person was. It is nice to hear that the place is world famous that famous folks will pop in. If you find yourself in Arizona, you must stop by this place. read more

This is the old Route 66 gift shop streets, at this moment, there are no more tourist or international tour bus for now. Business are going down due to the restriction traveling, this is my second time visits since 2004. This is a wonderful area to explore the 60s and 70s souvenirs. read more

I dare say that this was an excellent gift shop. Anakin was enthralled by the machines. I think he has always dreamed of owning a motorcycle. I can only hope he never gets his hands on one, as his reckless driving would be an end to us all. There is air conditioning in the building, a very good thing. The heat outside is dreadful. The only reason this is not five stars is because I could not find anything which piqued my interest. Really, it's more of a car show. Your young padawans will enjoy the 'Cars' likenesses outside. They are created well, and the 1924 model is especially interesting. read more

The place that started the Route 66 revival. Loved the place and had a great conversation with Angel's son in law about Angel and the shop. Sadly we missed Angel himself. At ninety one he still rides his bike home after hanging out at the shop and he'd just left. Lots of souvenirs and also tons of personal history to soak up. So glad we made it there. read more

This is a MUST VISIT on your road trip! The main attraction is the gift shop and adjacent barber shop but the hidden gem is the historían you find in Mauricio. We got there early in the morning and walked towards the shop as Mauricio had gotten there. He informed us on all things Route 66 before we even walked in the door. It was so refreshing to find someone who loves their city and what they do. You can tell he will be running this store his entire life. There is really no reason to go back to this store but Mauricio makes such an impression with his passion for all things that my husband has not stopped raving about it to people. We will definitely go back and visit! read more

FANTASTIC. This is the store and barber shop that got Historic Route 66 started. The original barber shop is attached to the gift shop and they have everything for Route 66. THIS IS A MUST SEE AND STOP. Very friendly people agin in Seligman. The history is amazing concerning this town. read more

Route 66 is awesome and so is this Old school Barbershop / Gift shop. This man is still cutting hair and shaving. You don't find places like this anymore. The old gentlemen is super nice and funny, you do get that retro feeling here . This guy has stories for ever about this charming town. You can also pick up some interesting soveniors next door. Cute little shop and the owner and his family are the best! We met angel's sister in Winslow and she told us to say hi to her family, and we did. These are some of the sweetest people walking around, they're really kind and they don't even mind that you just look around the shop without buying anything, although eventually you WILL buy something. read more

Small town, but really historic and cool. It kind of feels like a ghost town. I was really shocked by all the old cool stuff that they had laying around in the town. Took a lot of cool pictures here, cool place to see going down the old Route 66 on your way to the Grand Canyon. read more
