Came here for the first time on Wednesday December 18, 2024 in the morning. This is a relatively…read morenew business to the area - coming from Montreal, we like to shop in Vermont and this happens to be on our way as it is close to Walmart in the area. This is a discount store that offers a bit of everything - there are many home decor items, bedding, accessories, some shelf stable foods, toys, clothing, beauty products and knick knacks. The closest thing I can compare it to is Ollie's (there is one in Plattsburgh). I found the store to have a decent selection, but the overall vibe was very messy, dusty and kind of "low class". The clothing or toy selection are of poor quality. Immediately I thought Ollie's was better. I wandered in every aisle and there weren't any major deals to be found. I was looking for something specific advertised in the store flyer but even after searching and asking for help from employees, no one could find this item. Lots of unopened boxes of stock and stuff just piled everywhere. My favorite section was the beauty products area - There are soaps/body washes/lotions that you would not find in a regular store. For example, Dove or Johnson's products that come from another country. I am not sure how they arrived to the USA but these are versions of products normally sold abroad. If you check the labels you'll be surprised! Some stuff was made in Italy. I think this is the type of place you have to check back often for deals - we walked away with some soaps and toothpaste, there were 5 packs of Colgate tubes for less than $3 which was a steal but otherwise couldn't find anything else that really interested us.

She complained that she shouldn't have to move carts in the parking lot because she's the manager and apparently too good to do that. How rude. I felt bad for the employee and will not be back. You'd think for a new store the manager would be more welcoming.

Food City - Such a rude and inconsiderate display of discrimination and stereotyping of the homeless or those who are struggling financially.

The are constantly treating customers as if they are all stealing, and they always put rude signs in the windows. Not to mention that their location suggests convenience, but they are charging the highest prices in town and I feel like it is taking advantage of those who are on EBT by charging such high prices. A lot of people here don't have cars or transportation and are stuck hemorrhaging their EBT funds on high prices because they have no other choice. Their meat department is a joke and people are constantly dealing with spoiled meat. If you can get to Hannaford or Market 32 in Saint Albans, go to those places. Friendlier staff, better prices and non spoiled meat. I have included a recent photo of a rude sign that reads "if you plan on shoplifting let us know." This just feels like discriminatory practices against people who are on EBT and SNAP or homeless. This store seems to hate homeless and poor people.

The expiration date was still two days away. When I called the store at 6:30 p.m., I was told "The meat manager is gone for the day and won't be back until tomorrow." Hey, Food City, here's a thought: How about having an evening manager on staff who can take the complaint, investigate, and possibly save your customers from food poisoning? Next call will be to the health department.

It doesn't work. I had it for less than a week. I told him I had thrown away two previous ones that were the same. He said it could be a bad batch and should be reported. I went to Kinney Drugs and tried to replace it, but they said I couldn't get a new one because I had only gotten this one six days ago. I told her that the nrespiratory therapist had told me it could be a bad batch. I also told her the nurse practitioner said to call him if there was a problem. She asked me to have a seat. A while later another woman approached me from behind the counter and told me I couldn't get the alternative inhaler he had prescribed unless I paid $85 cash. I said I don't care, I still want it. Then I tried to tell her about the possibility of a bad batch and she curtly told me "Well no other customers have complained about it." She displayed no concern about what happened to me or what might be happening to others. I had been suffering with bad asthma attacks for many months and did not understand why the inhalers did not seem to help. I feel I should be re-imbursed for all three faulty inhalers, and it is the pharmacist's responsibility to report possible "bad batches" of drugs.
