While traveling through Saint Albans we needed to grab some windshield wipers as well as a few…read moreother toiletries, so we decided to stop in at this Walmart. This particular location has everything you need from a Walmart including an excessive collection of camouflage attire. The staff here was very polite and overall the store was well stocked, clean and organized. In the end, we found everything we needed and walked out in under ten minutes.

Walmart Saint Albans could be a great store. But for all of the space available, the check out…read morestations installed, the huge parking lot, the number of workers on shift it just can't seem to pull it off. Here's my theory: 1. They have maybe 10-20 checkout stations here. I barely see 4 open at any given time! This seems inefficient and just plain dumb. 2. It's a huge store but boy they sure had no clue how to organize it. It's a disaster of departments bleeding into other departments, customer service locations built for inventory or places for the staff to chat. A place this big, you'd think they'd have some quick map or locator...nope. Most departments are full of nothing I'm looking for and if they have it I have to wade through piles of disorganized stuff to find it! 3. No problem getting a parking space but no one seemed to clearly mark the aisle direction for the angled parking they installed. So I'm dodging cars and shoppers everywhere. It also doesn't help that the ingress and egress from the lot are snaked all over in 5 directions so good luck finding a quick way in and out of there without an accident. 4. I like seeing staff on the floor. But I'll add that just having staff out on the floor isn't enough. How about more staff WILLING TO HELP? They seem to staff this store with more unhappy workers who seem to be aimlessly milling about doing something (anything) other than helping customers. There are a couple places and times where I've seen real outgoing help here (electronics has someone on staff who really wants to help. Other than that, forget it, you're on your own here. Let me also add that the in-store Subway is a waste. Unfriendly workers, half of the time they are out of certain meats or breads and it just doesn't live up to the consistent standards of most franchises I've been to. It's such an afterthought adder. They'd do better with a Dunkin Donuts or McD's. I really don't like shopping here if I don't have to. Sure the prices are fairly competitive when I can find what I want. But the struggle to park, get my way around the store and customers who prefer to slowly block aisles or chat with staff, then have to find an open check out is just too much to make it worth my while most times.

The pharmacy is poorly run, with fast talking, slow walking clerks who clearly demonstrate a belief…read morethat interrupting, lecturing or speaking over someone so they are unable to get word in edgewise is a desirable skill set...hint; it's not. Add a generally unresponsive yet somehow arrogantly aloof attitude displayed by the pharmacist, hiding behind her computer monitor and the area is a perfect representation of a poorly run department...truly underwhelming and pathetic. The rest of the store ought to be embarrassed by the pharmacy.

Where are the Adults at the Price Chopper Supermarket in St Albans? The only people I see working…read morein the front of the store are children and not very bright children at that. At each and every supermarket if the cashier makes a mistake and over charges you not only get to keep your purchase but you get a complete refund. So is Price Chopper different from the rest of grocery stores? I think not. They just have no adult management. I bought a single bottle of beer. The cashier charged me based on a $10.99/6 pack. But the 6 pack was only $9.99 so instead of refunding me the $1.84+tax they wanted to just refund me 18 cents. Having worked in a supermarket as a cashier and as a manager in several supermarket corporate offices and I have shopped in supermarkets in many states this is not the way things are done. Not at all. But the worst was Alex who can't add/subtract or read. OMG! And one last thing did you realize at Price Chopper they charge you for getting cash back on your debit card? Except for the fact the cashier forgets to tell you beforehand. So ca anyone tell me of another market in St Albans even 15-20 miles away so I don't have to deal with children who can't read or do basic math? Please advise. Thanks! UPDATE... I found Hannaford Supermarket a little further down the street. They sell the same 6 pack for $8.99.

Food City - Such a rude and inconsiderate display of discrimination and stereotyping of the homeless or those who are struggling financially.

The staff here are mostly terrible and rude. There a a few nice people, but mostly the store…read moremanager Aaron is a mean, arrogant, discriminatory jerk. The are constantly treating customers as if they are all stealing, and they always put rude signs in the windows. Not to mention that their location suggests convenience, but they are charging the highest prices in town and I feel like it is taking advantage of those who are on EBT by charging such high prices. A lot of people here don't have cars or transportation and are stuck hemorrhaging their EBT funds on high prices because they have no other choice. Their meat department is a joke and people are constantly dealing with spoiled meat. If you can get to Hannaford or Market 32 in Saint Albans, go to those places. Friendlier staff, better prices and non spoiled meat. I have included a recent photo of a rude sign that reads "if you plan on shoplifting let us know." This just feels like discriminatory practices against people who are on EBT and SNAP or homeless. This store seems to hate homeless and poor people.

I bought Shady Farms brand ground turkey today at this Food City. It was truly (ahem) foul. Spoiled…read moreso badly I thought my dog had had a bowel accident. The expiration date was still two days away. When I called the store at 6:30 p.m., I was told "The meat manager is gone for the day and won't be back until tomorrow." Hey, Food City, here's a thought: How about having an evening manager on staff who can take the complaint, investigate, and possibly save your customers from food poisoning? Next call will be to the health department.
