Other contractors we've had in the home (from plumbers to electricians) have left messes for us to clean up or failed to show up when promised. McCuin didn't do any of that. The Harman they sold us has been an amazing stove that's given us no problems over the years. It heats the entire house and has virtually eliminated our need to rely on more expensive propane. The wood stove we have in the basement and the pellet stove in our living room has been more than enough. After this very long, cold winter, it started making a horrible squealing noise on Monday, fingernails on the chalkboard bad, and they had someone out within a day to look at it. The same guy who installed it came out and fixed it. Turned out a bearing in the auger was going. That they had the part on the truck and fixed it right there and then definitely impressed us. If you're looking for a pellet stove, I have nothing but high praise for the guys at McCuin and highly recommend them.

Not the friendliest service but I'm sure when you are a regular here they don't mind chatting it up. Despite how much stuff they have they manage to keep a clean and organized space. This makes it fairly easy to find things and is great for browse shopping too. They also have an extensive pet supply area towards the front which I hadn't known about. Lawn items and larger things are kept neatly along the side of the store out toward the back. Plenty of spacious parking and easy in and out. Prices are fairly competitive and they have regular promotional sales from time to time.

Wow talk about being made feel like a criminal. Walk into store to pick up two items I needed to…read morefinish a job and although one very nice older gentleman and Terry were very friendly I had two other employees stalk me in the store as if I'm filling my pockets with items. I admit I get excited in hardware stores and enjoy browsing tools that I might want to buy but to be made out to be a thief is really unprofessional. I wouldn't go pay for my items and give them my phone number for my rewards after I just had stolen anything. I take pride in myself by being a friendly trustworthy person. I don't steal from anyone. As I walked out of the store I told the lady at the front door to have a good day and she replied accordingly but in a snarky patronizing way all the while not looking me in the eyes once but blatantly staring at my pockets and my front sweatshirt pocket which had my cellphone in it which I'd put a million dollars she assumed was a stolen item. She did it as if to say " hey scumbag I know you just stole something." I almost walked back in immediately to empty my pockets to prove to her I had stolen nothing. But I don't owe that to anyone. Fire the middle aged woman with shoulder length brown wavy hair and give the older gentleman and Terry a raise. I went from appreciating two employees to despising another. Maybe I'm over reacting but it just really rubbed me the wrong way. I was the big guy with the tan sweatshirt and camo hat at 2:08 pm on Tuesday September 24th. So you know you were wrong when you check your cameras. I'll be going to Swanton from now on.

Unfortunately, I haven't quite found this particular store up to those expected standards. In fact, the very first time I stepped in here looking for specific items I had to practically chase down staff to ask for help. It doesn't seem that they aren't willing to help they just don't seem trained in looking to assist customers. The store itself is ok in terms of being organized but the back of the store and some of the aisles can get a bit cluttered and tough to shop. The prices are OK but I've found the inventory lacking on some items. Service can be a bit slow at times too. I came in once to buy some potting soil and spent a good 15 minutes at the counter because the the bar codes weren't cooperating on their system. It also didn't help that the cashier rang up the wrong bag of dirt. I like this one for the convenience of location and don't get me wrong, everyone is friendly here and helpful when you can get their attention. But I tend to prefer the other location off of Swanton Road instead.

I had a particular issue that was entirely not my fault after picking up an expensive piece of equipment where a MAJOR part was missing but was assured it was included in the original package I picked up. They actually wanted me to drive back 1.5 hours in each direction instead of shipping it out to me as good customer service. In the end, they ended up shipping the part but it was done passive aggressively. I tried to give my business to a smaller business but I regret it and should have purchased the product from Lowes in the first place where they give a 5% discount.
