This is a huge bookstore, with front side of it mainly has gift items and accessories. Middle and…read moreback side of the store have all kinds of books, including children's books, greeting cards, toys and board games. Each book section was clearly marked with its category. The store is very clean and tidy. There were plenty of staff in the store keeping things in place, helping customers with questions and also do the checkouts. We bought some greeting cards, stickers and a kid's story book from the store. Prices were decent for all the items. The checkout process was quick and easy.

It has limited weekday hours, but the selection is surprisingly good for donated books, and the prices are cheap. Brought it home and found the tone arm lifter had a part broken off. They replace it with a cheap piece that doesn't work. So I phoned Speaking Volumes. The store owner got on the phone and started yelling at me. I was stunned. He told me to go to hell if I didn't like what he did. Nice. He told me to never come back. My advice is to go anywhere else to have your audio equipment repaired. You'll be glad you did.

The shop is small and the staff didn't look up when I came in. They spoke to the regulars and chastised a customer for opening a bagged back issue but it was otherwise silent. They have the comics on racks separated by companies but no New Release section for monthly comics. It made browsing kind of difficult. I bought a trade paperback, a reprint floppy and a monthly issue of a new series. The tpb shelves were packed too tight in some places so there were pressure points on some of the books. I did appreciate the amount of ABSOLUTES and oversized hardcovers, though. Overall, I would go back again but I don't know that I would go out of my way.

Nobody in the store but me and the gentlemen working. Asked the price of a shirt and acted as if I…read morewas a bother. Advised me they're all marked, though there was no markings. I got a phone call while I was in the store and he rudely hand motioned a "cut it out single" and said NO PHONE CALLS IN HERE. I laid my shirt at the front desk and took my call outside. Noting posted, no signs anywhere saying no calls or phones, came back to get my shirt and asked for it, he told me that he put it back in a rude tone and nasty facial expression. I then was direct and asked "why so rude to a customer that's never been here before" He acted as if he had no idea why I'd think that. Told me I was rude because I laid my shirt down. (The one I came back in to purchase) needless to say, I ended my search for the album I came for and left the shirt behind. There's other lovely spots in Vermont! This one is NOT it!

You really have to sift through stuff to get your size/style/color. I think maybe I've just aged out of this kind of place. Dirt Chic is more my kind of place now that I've entered my 30s.
