I generally go to this store once a month, and buy over a hundred fifty dollars worth, sometimes a…read morelot more, of merchandise. It's like a treasure hunt for gotta haves & bargains. But this last time when I went there in the morning at N. Canton store in early April '24, was semi-rudely told to not take 2 or 3 extra plastic bags at checkout because she, the cashier, has to pay for them, later saying the store has to pay for them (obviously). I needed them to split some items for others buying for and to make it easier for carrying them (elderly mid - seventies). I had just bought over $125 plus another $40 worth of stuff. I know what bags cost, and they certainly don't cost enough to warrant this attitude when I'm spending this much. I will probably go back to this store eventually, but not for a long while, and when inside if I see that cashier again, then I will turn around and leave because I will not be subjected to that attitude & humiliation. Also, I didn't like the 'security' person following me around the store for an hour & a half, keeping at a safe distance like about 20 feet nonchalantly trying to look like a shopper while not having a cart w/ items in it...so obvious. Anyways, they have mostly nice items in there, and recommend the store; just beware of the 'bag crazy' cashier & the security guy. Thanks for letting me vent...

I really wouldn't care much about that but I needed something and three workers saw me looking up and down the aisles but continued their own conversations and walked past. It was so evident I needed assistance and equally evident that they weren't engaged with me so it frankly felt awkward for me to interrupt them. Old decor is one thing, disengaged service is altogether different. By contrast, Rite Aid across the street was opposite in every way. It made me wonder why I haven't gone there in so long.

The situation escalated quickly when he accused me of trying to obtain a prescription I wasn't…read moreentitled to, despite the fact that my primary doctor's office had originally confirmed what was needed. The pharmacist ignored the facts, became aggressive in tone, and started to manipulate the situation, making me feel like I was in the wrong. To make matters worse, he attempted to downplay the situation by offering me a discount of $25, which seemed like a mere attempt to brush things under the rug. I suspect they initially charged my insurance company a significantly higher amount, likely $500 or more, and the pharmacist seemed more concerned about deflecting the issue than addressing it fairly. His unprofessional behavior, lack of empathy, and failure to communicate properly with me made me lose all trust in this pharmacy. This experience was not only disrespectful but also raised serious concerns about the lack of understanding of basic procedures, including HIPAA regulations. I strongly feel that this pharmacist's actions were inappropriate and unprofessional, and I would recommend avoiding Giant Eagle Pharmacy in the future. The treatment I received was unacceptable, and I will never trust them with my healthcare needs again.
