I had a flashback to my childhood, walking home from elementary school and stopping at the small store on the corner to buy penny candies and other goodies like banana flavored Now & Laters or candy cigarettes. I had to go into that store. Luke R. and Rachel F. were walking by. I pointed out the penny candy sign, and the four of us went in to explore. We found video boxes on display, shelves of candy galore and a fridge with sodas, not a commercial fridge but one like we'd have in our homes. I felt like I went back in time. I think we all did because we giggled and bounced around the store like we were kids! Did I buy any candy? You're damn right I did, and I'd go back and do it again!

They had those styrofoam-y UFO things that seemed questionable, sixlets, candy cigarettes, bubble-gum cigars, all the lemonheads/boston baked beans/etc. you could think of and so much more... Also: DVDs, if you're into that sort of thing. Also: pinball, if you're into that sort of thing. Also: a doll collection behind the counter, if you're into that sort of thing. I've gone here on dates, brought new friends to shop, like jeez I literally have made memories at this place. This isn't Goodwill. It's a little grimey and messy. I even heard one person claim to find a McDonald's cheeseburger in a winter coat pocket. (This has not been a verified story.) But it is CHEAP. Especially if you plan around their daily 50% discounts or their weekend 50% off everything. And that's what you come for, the deals and the hidden treasure!! I've also never once, in the years I've been shopping here, had a bad experience with an employee. They're all very friendly. And I usually bring more than the 3 item limit into the dressing room, never have been scolded (: Worth the stop for avid thrifters. Out of all the local Value Villages, this one if my favorite (rip North Ave location). The other Layton location is just eh. Haven't had the luck I've had at this location. The Racine location is also VERY good.

The coffee table was a very basic flat top with four square legs, nothing special except the $149 price tag for a very simple table PASS on that. Amazon has some super nice coffee tables in that price range. This really is not my kind of store so I don't anticipate returning because they don't even carry a simple coffee table, I found one at Walmart for $24 to my surprise, I just wanted a simple plane coffee table.

They have many different cuts of lamb and will cut anything to order for you. Yes they sell lamb tongue and stomach plus you can buy intestines. Now for the best part....the freshly baked pita. She can get complex issues accomplished on the computer in two minutes, I observed that she obviously knows highly advanced procedures that I've never seen anyone else use, at any pharmacy, ever. (she said it's due to her many years experience). She was able to get a $300+ med that I needed that day approved by insurance following a decline message. These bogus declines happen often; normally I would have to wait until the following Monday when Medicaid re-opened and sit on the phone for a half hour sorting it out with them. She saved me from going through all of this hassle and going without medicine for the weekend!! I was amazed that she actually made it happen. She didn't have to bother taking the time to go the extra mile, but the difference is that these people actually care about you. They always remember my name, which is also pretty nice. The store itself is also good. They carry a variety of merchandise and bring in new items frequently.

I have seen multiple pharmacists come and go and ironically every single bad experience is when Mohamed is on duty. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I called the pharmacy at 2pm and left a voicemail. He returned my call at 3:30pm and advised me my prescriptions would be ready within the hour. I arrived at the pharmacy at 4:45pm. I was told by an unnamed pharmacy employee that one script (of 3) was filled. I advised her that there should be 3 and her reply was "yeah, and one is ready" I explained how I spoke to Mohamed and he advised me they would be ready in an hour. At this point we are at almost 5:00pm. I sat and waited while she did lord only knows what. What I DID see her do was completely ignore an elderly woman for 10 minutes who left the pharmacy counter. She and Mohamed then tried to justify their "promised" time of 5:09pm (this time was "promised" when Ms. unnamed no name tag started the expedited/waiting process. When I offered up my call log she had no response. Every single time there is a prescription issue HE IS INVOLVED. Please do your corporation a favor and get rid of him.
