This place is horrible to do business with. Almost a year later I keep getting a statement I have already paid. When I call their billing number, I get a VM that is full or dropped back into the phone menu. You can never get a hold of someone there to get it resolved! I complained to Humana and they were able to get a hold of someone there who said it was "new accounting system" and they would take care of it. Well 3 months later, I get the same statement. If you just love phantom bills for visits years ago, a tree's worth of rejected EOB's from your insurance company, threats to trash your credit report over $10, no $70, no wait, just $10, then Family Derm is the place for you! I went for a visit in early 2012, which my insurance paid for in..early 2012. They kept trying to re-bill the insurance company for the same appointment for about 18 months (which was rejected, obviously). Years later I start getting hounded by debt collectors. They say I owe $10. No wait, $70. Oh just kidding, that was an error - it's $10...And if you don't pay it, we'll ruin your credit! Calls to the Family Derm billing department are sent to an answering machine that says your call will be returned in about a week. Of course it never is. Nor are any emails returned. Bottom line, this place's billing is horribly mismanaged. Do your blood pressure a favor and find another derm. read more

STAY AWAY. This place is awful. I went in for my first and only visit to Family Dermatology in November 2012. I went to their Warrington, PA office which has since closed. I saw Sharon Mohale and I paid $35 in May 2013. [It took forever to receive a bill.] In September 2013 I received another bill for $76 and I paid that. Now, in October 2015, I received a statement saying I owe $35. If anything, Family Dermatology owes ME money because it looks like I overpaid. I've tried calling numerous times and a recording comes on and then it goes to voicemail. Like others here I was just notified from a collection agency that I owe $340 from an office visit in 2010! I have been seeing the same doctor twice a year since 2008 and have always paid the bill. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! THIS PLACE IS A SHAM! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! If I could give this place less than one star, I would. I came to this facility due to the fact that their website stated they had "State of the art equipment and knowledgeable staff." Far from it. What gave me pause was that the receptionist gave me ZERO paperwork to fill out upon arrival, apart from a HIPA form. Mind you, I was a new patient. No patient history forms were given or questions asked about my previous medical history ...NADA! That should have been a sign right then and there for me to leave. A moment later, a nurse came into reception and escorted me into an examination room. She proceeded to ask me 3 questions about my skin. THAT was the extent of my patient history intake on their end. The PA, Katherine Simmons, then came in, introduced herself, carrying with her various items (paperwork, pens, etc.) and proceeded to aid the nurse in typing some things into the examination room computer. She then proceeded to to touch my eye and the skin around the surrounding area ( The reason for my visit) WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS OR PUTTING ON GLOVES!! The paperwork, exam room computer, and other items she was carrying notwithstanding, I have NO idea where her hands had been previously! That was not only unprofessional, but extremely uhygenic! She could have introduced an infection or something worse into my eye or onto my skin! She proceeded to ask me why I was there and I then told her. Without preamble, she tells me (Via casually looking over my face without any instrumentation) that I have benign sweat gland tumors under my eye and the Melia spot on my cheekbone (which was my initial concern) "She would not touch" (Her words). I had to be the proactive one during this exchange; asking questions which she seemed too preoccupied to answer. She offered no additional information as to my diagnosis, and no methods of treatment or prevention other than stating that "I may get more". Hearing the words "benign" and "tumor" in the same sentence would be extremely disconcerting for anyone which prompted me to ask if I needed surgery or additionally, if other treatments would be required or were available to prevent other tumors from forming. Also, tumors that were once benign can at any point become malignant, which was a huge cause for concern. She never answered any of these questions, but after some prompting, proceeded to tell me that surgery was not an option, as it would leave a facial scar. As for the Melia, she stated the only known removal device for it was in L.A. Odd...since via a bit of research, I found an office in Decatur that has the means to effectively treat Melia. If I recall my geography correctly, Decatur, Georgia is not L.A! She then asked what I used on my face daily and suggested I use an otc with benzoyl peroxide if I ever were to develop acne. Then she walked out. I thought she was going to at the very least, examine my skin and had left to retrieve some items, but this was not the case. I sat there for almost 10 min. before asking the nurse (Who was still struggling to type in the Drs. diagnosis) if the Dr would be returning. Without looking up, she said, "No, you're done" and continued typing. I have never left a place so disgusted in my life. I left filled with concern due to her diagnosis, and now have more questions than answers. I don't know what the deal is or what their staff is attempting to run, but it certainly is not a professional medical practice. Incidentally, after my visit, I attempted to call the practice 3 times in order to speak with a supervisor, only to be given the run around. During the first 2 attempts, I was told that the supervisor was away, but they could take my personal information and I would receive a call promptly. That never happened. On my 3rd attempt, they even stooped so low as to state that the supervisor was at a recently closed site which had no phone access and therefore could not be reached. They also proceeded to inform me that the PA who attended me had quit the following Monday due to "Differences with her supervisor" (My appointment had been the previous Friday.) Both convenient and extremely questionabe. I asked the staffer if I was able to speak with the PA's supervisor at her office regarding the incident. He stated that the practice now only saw patients at that location every other Friday and that they were booked. When I informed him that the supervisor probably carried a cell phone and he was welcome to forward my information to her, he proceeded to hang up on me . As of yet, they have made no attempts to contact me. I have thusly decided to take further action. In hindsight, after reading their ratings on Yelp, it is a wonder that they have not permanently shut down this location. read more

The staff is friendly, but there is always a wait regardless of when you appt is. Come prepared to wait at least 30 minutes if not more. As far as treatment, Dr. Moody gets the problem resolved. read more

Everyone is always really nice and friendly here. I was late to my appointment but they still saw me. Knowledgable when it comes to skin issues. I had two red spots on my cheeks and they knew exactly what to prescribe me. Though the cream was expensive, it worked and i saw results in a couple of days. I've been to this office 4 times and was seen by Dr. Anjeli Laungani for skyngomas and dermatofibroma. Each time the dr. spent the additional time to inform me what the procedure would be like and the after effects of it. I felt like there was actual care and concern for the patient, not just herding in and out. I was happy wtih the service that the Dr and staff provided, they were very helpful, friendly and I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes to get in and see the Dr. I usually don't enjoy going to the dr. office but this place is a breeze. read more

Was called the day before to cancel appt. because Dr. was not available, rescheduled appt. rec. reminder phone call 3 days before, showed up for an early appt. and found a note on the door that stated that if you had an appt. this morning that you were called (which we, nor the man that pulled up the same time as we did, had not be called the 2nd time). The note also told us of our new rescheduled appt. This is a very unprofessional way of doing business and and I will take my business elsewhere! It's ironic that they claim if you don't give them 24 hour notice they will charge you $50.00 because their time is valuable, but I guess mine is not, the way I see it is they owe me $50.00! This is one of the WORST provider experiences I have ever had! I went to 3 different locations. Upon arrival, appointments were not recorded and I was turned away. The wait times are extremely long. My issues were never resolved once I did get in. Trying to contact any office is ridiculous. To add insult to injury, I am now getting billed for appointments 18 months ago. I have called the billing department 4 times and left messages as instructed but NEVER get a return call. Now they are threatening to send me to collections for $46 and destroy my good credit. I stopped seeing Family Dermatology in 2013 because they got my insurance paper work all messed up. I believe they over charged my Medicare PPO Provider Highmark Blue Shield but that does not matter now. For 1 and 1/2 years now Jan 2015 I have been getting tons of insurance paperwork for my visits July 10 2013. Each and every time I called the office here in Reading Pa I was told that NO, "you do not owe any money, you paid your proper co-pay." Today I got a bill charging me $150.00. Nice work Fam Derm! I agree, the staff is friendly but this June 2013, I was sent a bill for Oct 2012 which was long-ago paid by my medical insurance with my balance paid by my charge card. I sent emails, sent a paper copy of my receipts and Insurance statements, left several detailed messages over the past 6-months, yet I have never received a callback or email reply. I did get a notice from a Collection Agency which caused me to do further work. Today I went to the Lilburn office listed on the bill. The receptionist was pleasant and even gave me a different number to call (but no one answered the phone and it is not possible to leave a message). Really unbelievably poor Billing & Custom Service problems. I suggest you go elsewhere, which is a shame because the doctor I saw is competent. read more

I have been going to Family Dermatology, in Lilburn, GA, for over 3 years now. I have never been spoken to rudely. Dr Paula is a very caring Dr and knows what she is doing. I have never been overcharged or billed twice. With a business as large as this was, there will be problems with billings. Produce proof you paid and you will be taken care of. read more

I have had no billing issues, but it is impossible to get anyone on the phone. The only phone numbers that I can find goes directly to the billing department. The others just ring and then disconnect. What kind of business is this. How do they get new patients with no working phone number. We have been going here since 2002. I just got a bill from this practice for a visit over 2 years ago! The contracted amount for the services were paid by my insurance and I paid my co-payment in 2012. They kept billing my insurance company over and over, then stopped. Out of the blue I received another bill for the same visit. There have been over 100 complaints made to the BBB regarding their billing practices and also just the other night, there was a segment on the local news! Did anyone see it? DONT use this practice!! If you carry a balance with them, they will turn it over to a collection agency even after making payment arrangements with you and accepting payments agreed upon. This is the worst practice I have ever been involved with. I wholly agree with the other posters. I was seen in November 2013 by one of their doctors. I was billed for an injection that I never received. I made numerous attempts to call and straighten the matter out - all to no avail. Blue Cross Blue Shield is now investigating the matter as fraudulent billing. Despite this, today I received a notice from a collection agency for a charge of $69.20 threatening to ruin my credit. STAY FAR AWAY!!! If I could give this place a zero star review, I certainly would. My son was a patient at their Maryland office many years ago (2011 to be exact). During his course of time there, the practice was bought out by Family Dermatology and since then, I have had nothing but billing problems from them. They submitted a claim to my insurance for not just my son, but also under my name (I wasn't even a patient!). Received payments from the insurance company for both claims, has billed me repeatedly for amounts they say that I owe. Luckily I keep great records of the claims, EOBs from my insurance company and know the exact amounts that should be paid by me. After multiple attempts to reach them via phone, and with no return calls (EVER), they turned me over to a collection agency whom I had a better dealing with than the actual office. And now, just within the past week, I received yet another bill from them saying I owe another $68.77 when in July of 2014, I received a letter advising that my balance was paid in full and that there were no more monies due on my account. It is such a shame that I have to constantly do their job and provide them with constant proof that all monies have been paid. I do not recommend this company or billing department to anybody. If you are from Maryland and are reading this, I recommend finding another company and going anywhere but here. read more

Do not use Family Dermatology unless you want phantom bills that appear one year and four months after your office visit. The claim was filed under the wrong insurance which was their mistake. They were provided my current insurance card the the time of the office visit. Trying to resolve an issue with their billing department is a joke. Calls to billing office result in long waits and then you have the option to leave a message which isn't returned. Conference call with my insurance company and their billing department in which I provided them with my updated insurance information and a promise from them to file the claim didn't go anywhere. They agreed to put my account on hold until this matter was "resolved". Yesterday I get a final notice that I will be turned over to a collection agency if the bill is not paid. I had a HRA insurance account in force at the time of my office visit that would have paid for the entire visit. Now they want me to come out of pocket for their mistake. My experience with Family Dermatology of Lilburn is the worst medical experience I've ever had. Run from this facility and get the care you deserve! As you read this, please understand I'm a PhD scientist who will ask questions of doctors to make certain I understand their reasoning as to what's making me sick. This caused a huge problem for Dr. Moody. At the conclusion of my first visit Dr Moody wrote a prescription for an over the counter cream that was ineffective. He later argued that Sarna is not available over the counter. Look it up if you care to! Several days after my first visit, I called the office and explained my situation was much worse and that I was suffering terribly. After many messages with their answering service and directly calling the Lilburn office, it took 7 days for a call back and they waited until my biopsy results were received (3 days late). One of Dr. Moody's two stitches from the biopsy came untied with 2-3 days of the procedure. The medical information I provided to nurse, doctor and staff at my first visit never made it to my medical file. They lost the copies of previous medical tests I provided to the nurse and doctor and never transferred the information to my file. They also lost and did not transfer the list of medications I provided them. Consequently, the doctor wanted to prescribe a medicine I had already taken and had been determined ineffective. At my follow up (last) visit Dr. Moody was unable to properly read the biopsy pathology report and did not understand the significance of specific elevated white blood cells in the biopsy sample. Amazing as white blood cells fight infection! He became hostile and extremely unprofessional when I asked questions about my care and the biopsy report. It's my body and my health, why would any professional doctor have a problem with a patient asking for an explanation as to what he believes is going on, what I should expect as we continue my care, and what course of action we should follow if subsequent treatment is ineffective? He was condescending and questioned how I could possibly know anything medical or biological regarding my pathology report, illness and care. I had to remind him that I'm a trained PhD scientist! I've worked as a microbiologist and have experience in the genetics and biotechnology field. It's obvious to me that my biology degree from Georgia Tech with an emphasis in molecular biology and genetics exceeds his medical degree in this area. He finally admitted that he didn't know what was causing my problem and didn't know how to proceed to help me. I must admit that my case was more rare that simple acne or dry skin. He may be a good zit doctor, I don't know. However, a simple academic/medical journal search using the biopsy results confirmed I was correct in my interpretation; not my opinion alone as my internist and two other doctors agree! I hope this help you! Holier than thou doctors intimidated by patient questions regarding their care should be avoided at all costs IMHO. read more
