My go to spot for some authentic Mexican food. Only thing is I recommend you to check it out on the weekends. I feel like the food is way fresher on the weekends than weekdays. The staff is very friendly and you're sat right away with immediate service. The space is very clean and quiet with lots of families, workers and couples. I really do enjoy coming over to this family own operations. I went this past Sunday morning with my mother and the place was packed! I highly recommend calling ahead but even then, the place is loud and the lines are busy. Come when opening to get seated right away, which is what we did. The food was wonderful and tasty! Love the chips and salsa before the meal. The smoothie bar is also great, a bit pricy though. Loved our service and was very attentive with our needs. Convinced by all the positive reviews to try Familia Loritos, we finally made it today, the Sunday before Christmas. Even though the restaurant was almost full, we were seated immediately at table for two and given chips, salsa, and menus. Our sir, came right away to take our order; my husband ordered chilles relleños and I got green chicken enchiladas. All the positive reviews were on point. Husband really enjoyed his relleños; they came with fresh handmade corn tortillas and a red sauce that was different than anything he'd had before. The chicken in my enchiladas was absolutely delicious. The enchiladas were covered with crema, lettuce, and avocado and accompanied by really flavorful refried beans (that's a phrase I've actually never used) and yummy Spanish rice. We enjoyed Mexican cokes with our meal and the portions were so generous that we each took half our entrées home to enjoy this evening. The restaurant is light and clean with a lively vibe from all the patrons. The staff is efficient and very friendly. We can't wait to go back and try other dishes. read more

The restaurant claims to be a family restaurant, but it does not have a kid's menu. There is a very small selection of items on the menu that are kids friendly. There's no WIFi for my kids table to connect. The waitress greeted us and took our drink order. When the busboy came to dropped them off, my husband as asked to pay for the drinks before we even order. The food seems to be traditional Mexican food, but nothing vegetarian or even remotely to be a healthy version of at all. This will be a piece for my husband to come ALONG! The food was alright, just as expected, but let me tell you about the service level. I feel my party of four couples fell into a scandalous scam with the tip at the end of our visit. The waitress was completely benignly at loss with words when it came time to order and we spoke both English and Spanish as she knew both languages too. We would order our plates and her tone down to her eyes rolling gave us an indication that she was terribly displeased with waitressing at our table. We asked for separate checks and the waitress said it was not possible, that they don't do separate billing in a table with more than six people. Never heard of such a thing but we went with it and had to do the math ourselves to divide the bill adequately. The bill was given without a break out detail of what was charged and had a tacked $40 dollars as a tip+ tax, title and Doc fees. I wouldn't blink one time about the tip quantity or the fact that the bill could not be split, if the waitresses service was a bit more polite. I have not felt uninvited at a restaurant for a long while. The ordering of the food felt painful and almost felt flat out disturbed. We knew English and Spanish and were ordering the best way we could and it did not seem like it was enough to make the waitress happy. She seemed flustered and done with taking our orders. Eg. If I ask for tea and she says we don't have tea, and all you get is a stare? In my mind, I am saying Could you please share what it is you do have for drinks instead of tea? All I got was a stare and I had to throw ideas out to her and see what sticks ....... Ok, we made progress when I asked if they had cucumber and lemon water- FINALLY a sign of life!!!! The drink was $6.00 Pricy- dude it's just cucumber and lemon splash. Any how, if they are going to include the tip and go for the highest and guaranteed amount, at least provide a breakout of the order and not take forever to bring the order to the table if a customer asked you for it. If service would have been excellent I would not come close or spend my time writing this review. I felt we payed $40 dollars for mistreatment and all we did was order food and not be nasty snobby people in return at least we held our ground at being pleasant in the middle of mistreatment. What really sucked is my best friend whom Paid with his credit card was charged 5% for the use of a credit card to pay the bill- everybody happy!!!, I went to the bathroom and was afraid to flush because I might get charged for the toilet water!!!! read more

For starters this place has some real and authentic Mexican food, the type that your Mexican food your Mexican nana makes. When it comes to Mexican food I believe that the taste and the quality of the ingredients are important and necessary to create authentic Mexican food. Delicious quesadillas, which are stuffed with cheese and chicken or your choice of meat. Salsa was not what I have found in other Mexican food restaurants, but is flavorful and spicy. I signed up for a Yelp account just to review this place. We're from Tucson but found a go to place when we come to the Phoenix. We arrived just when they were closing early (Warning: they currently close at 3 PM on Tuesdays). We were hungry and we were allowed to get the order to go. Wife and I got birria (shredded goat meat in its broth) and it was the best I've ever eaten. Wife is from southern Mexico and says she's only eaten something comparable in Mexico City. I've passed this little hole in the wall place for the past 7 years as I'm getting on the freeway every morning. My husband is very skeptical of trying new places but I finally convinced him to go with me to try it out. Now this is one of his favorite places to eat Menudo. We come here almost every week to get our fix of menudo and the quesadillas are so delicious! And the corn tortillas they serve with their meals are the best I've ever had. One day we asked for a dozen to go which I don't think anyone has ever done I'm guessing by the confused reaction we got when we asked for our dozen toMy husband is all about service and the food has to be good before he revisit a restaurant again. Well we go back week after week and now this is the only place besides home we eat menudo at. Don't let the exterior fool you. The inside is clean, neat and very welcoming. Had the fajitas and all I can taste is the cheese and burnt steak. Skimpy on the steak no onions or tomato's. Just plain area with bell and cheese. Reminds me of a philly cheese steak. Price for the combo plate, a Diet Coke (can), and the tip (20%) came to $13. If it's busy, parking could be an issue. The ambiance inside is clean, comfortable, and pretty. I had the Bistec Asada which was very good. 2 long slices of skirt steak well seasoned. Rice and beans. Sides of avocado and cucumber with a small salad and 2 roasted jalapenos. Lots of corn tortillas. Delicious. My sister had the red menudo. She said it was also very good. They also have some fantastic looking desserts but was too full to get dessert. Very friendly staff.
