Falls Lake Dam is one of our go-to spots whenever we have guests from out of town. We love to to brag on the beauty of NC but this spot speaks for itself. You can drive by for a quick visit, park and hike, have a picnic, such variety. Autumn is when the changing colors of the leaves really steal the show. There are restrooms by the dam, playground area and a hill that my out of town friend rolled down to recapture her youth. I'll try it next time!

Nice place for picnic with great views and some hiking trails as well. I live near by and this is where I usually go.

It is hard not to like this place. For runners: There are flats and hills for any type of running training. For fisherman/women: There are two areas, by the dam and down the hill to do some traditional fishing. For sunset/sunrise chasers - The Falls of Neuse waterway is a splendid spot to catch either. For dam lovers: There is a dam. This is a large park with miles of walking, biking and running. Much of it is forest, so bring bug spray, especially during the summer months. There are some big ass biters. They don't discriminate. There aren't a lot of flowers if that is your thing, but some very tall trees. They are open for cars until 8 PM in the summer and I believe 5 in the winter. You can walk in after hours and there is parking right at the entrance way on Falls of Neuse.

The tailrace from when the water was very high.

We have visited the dam and tailrace several times to observe, walk and fish. It is a very beautiful and peaceful place.

Past the Dam by the water.

A lot of fun to walk on. Brought my dog who seemed to have a lot of fun. Looking forward to trying kayaking in the near future

Ask the Community - Falls Lake Dam

    Is the fishing good?

I don't fish, but I came up on a young fellow who had just reeled in a large mouth bass this summer. There's also a nice new pier that extends out on the water.

Sandling is accessible to the fire pits for barbecuing and is very small. Perfect for families and small children. You can access the beach on Creedmoor Rd. This was the perfect place for a convenient beach day 4th of July weekend. It saved me the 4 hour trip to Bear Island. I arrived early around 10:30 a.m. and there were no crowds. We camped out near the showers and bathrooms. This park is perfectly lined with trees in abundance. Perfect for barbecuing. We enjoyed our morning picnic and the water was very relaxing. I appreciate how clean the sand area was and the garbage was well organized as well. I brought my mother who is 72 and I had concerns about the proximity of the restrooms and showers and overall access. I was relieved to discover how convenient the beach access was for those with mobility impairment and disabilities. There are no pets allowed and no alcohol permitted. I watched the park rangers escort someone with a pit bull to the parking lot to return home and a woman was asked to dump out several beer cans. You have been warned. They run a tight ship here. I plan to return throughout the remainder of the summer months.

Gives them an opportunity to earn some money during the season. We got the aquabana as they call it, for half a day (4 hours) and it was worth it ! We didn't swim but the kids did and they had a blast! You're able to bring a cooler with food and drinks ( juice, tea, soda, water. No alcohol) they have a food truck on site, as well as a "dirty soda" stand. Flavored sodas with cream (very popular in Utah but slowly making their way to the east coast) as well as a first aid bungalow. Everyone gets a life vest but kids under 18 MUST wear theirs at all times! I like that rule! Keeps the kids safe. Of course the teens working there are certified lifeguards just in case! They also offer scuba classes/lessons at the quarry. Would I come back? YES! Maybe one day I would try the courses and swim or paddle board but the go around it was nice relaxing and letting the kids live carefree in the lake!
