I love Fall Run! Everything about it. Great little hiking trails, water falls, and areas for picnicing. The best part is that if you look closely, you will find that someone has set up little gnome, faeries, and mushroom houses and scenes throughout the property. Usually in and around trees. Finding the little ceramic figures just living their lives in the forest makes for a fun kind of scavenger hunt. And, oh...there are little trolls as well. read more

What a great little park just a couple miles off of Highway 28. The waterfall is beautiful and the paths are wide and well kept. It was great fairly flat walk with the option to walk in the creek bed if wanted. Perfect for pets and kids.. read more

Beautiful park, but sad that the water levels are so low. Either way, the trail is great for young and old alike. There were a lot of dogs on the path and friendly people around. I'd love to come back after a rainy spring to see the flowing river. I recommend visiting with crocs or water friendly shoes, to explore the area. read more

This park was super cute! I heard about the waterfall on social media so my friend and I decided to try. It was a pretty easy walk as someone that doesn't walk much. We walked from the bottom to the top and back which was a little over 1.5 miles and we stopped at the water fall to take some pictures. I went after work and the trail wasn't too busy and very clean. I want to walk it again on the fall months once the leaves start changing. read more

I thought I had written a review here already, but apparently it went away. I really enjoy visiting this park. It's a nice hike through a valley filled with waterfalls of various sizes. The highlight is one very large waterfall and there are steps and an observation deck next to it. This is a nice escape into the woods not far from civilization ... Cheers! read more

This is a wonderful venue. Plenty of parking spaces. Short walk to waterfalls via wooden stairs. Nice short path through trees for walking. Saw woodpeckers and on this early March day I saw my first butterfly of the season, a Spring Azure. So worth a visit. read more

This is a beautiful park. They have a soccer field and playground area, with a picnic pavilion before you enter the trail to the waterfall. The trail is not a long or overly difficult walk. A few small hills and the stairs to get up to the falls is really the only inclines. Otherwise, it is relatively low grades or flat walking. The whole trail is less than a mile in which is nice for us since our pup who is getting up there in age, can't really handle the long hikes anymore. The waterfall is lovely, and a great spot for some pictures which you will see people all over the park taking pictures (many professional style pictures). We have also seen many painters standing in the stream painting the landscape. Currently the creek that runs through is drying up, so the waterfall is less impressive than in the wetter months of the year, but still a beautiful sight. The fall foliage is at its peak, so this is a great time to go for a visit. Also, a nice birding spot in the spring and summer months. read more

I recently came back to Fall Run Park. This time I visited with my friend and her three kids (ages 9, 5, and 5). The kids were able to complete the hike with no problem. The waterfall continues to be the star of the show. It's so fun to have a waterfall within minutes of the city. The park is always clean and well maintained. Additionally, we played on the little playground they have on site. The kids enjoyed it. Definitely check this park out for a nice and easy walk! read more

Really nice park and walking trail in Shaler Township and only 15 minutes from the heart of Pittsburgh. The trail winds along a creek bed for just under a mile and comes to a nice waterfall. Plenty of shade in the summer from the trees overhead. Trail is relatively flat and we saw many little children and parents/caretakers with strollers on the trail. Truly an enjoyable spot for all ages. read more

My cousin just visited the park last week and highly recommended we go.. so off we went to Glenshaw. It was my boyfriends birthday and we were trying to find something to do. Since we are burger lovers we decided to hit Hardees (which are hard to find - not many in PA) in Millvalle before hand. That was a treat ... then off to Route 28 to Glenshaw towards the park. Real easy to find. So glad we went! We visited the park on a Friday around lunchtime. There wasn't too many people around.. we didn't have to wear a mask .. and seems like everyone else was enjoying the break too - but keeping their distance of course. This park has so many waterfalls and charming bridges.. you can't help but to take tons of pictures.. I know I did! It was an easy walk too for those that might not be too much in shape these days. We are definitely going back. This park will be amazing for fall foliage photos later on in the year. Also, FYI - I didn't see any public restrooms. Happy Trails! read more

Beautiful place year round. Crazy this nature is right off route 8. Love exploring with my kiddos in the water during the summer time. They love looking for bugs and walking along the bridges. The path is really nice for even a 2 year old to walk all the way to the waterfall. It's about a half mile there. I used to drive by this place and had no idea what it was all about until I decided to stop in and realized that it is a great little park. I have since enjoyed many walks along the trail and viewing the water falls that are in the park. You can't have a super long walk here, but it can make for a nice day out. read more

I found this park on a blog site featuring parks close-ish to Pittsburgh with scenic hikes particularly with waterfalls. It was sleeting and in the 30s but this park did not disappoint! Upon the entering, there's a small private parking lot, nothing too fancy but about 10 or so spots. There's a wooden sign to mark the beginning of the trail. It starts out with gravel and then changes into a dirt path, if it's wet, a mud path so be careful. Crossing over the little bridges was super cute and memorable. Basically, you walk along the creek (pronounced 'crick' for us rural folk) or stream. About a mile in, you'll run into the the main waterfall. I'm happy the temperatures weren't freezing so the falls were still going. Wooden steps transport you to the top of the waterfall. It's quite beautiful, and I just stopped and stared to take it all in. When you get to the top of the stairs, the trail continues. I'm going to return for a full hike, if you will, once the weather is better. In other words, I wasn't fully dressed or prepared for a precipitation. We were getting pelted by the little bits of ice. But this place is not far from the city and very scenic so come prepared to take some pics of nature. read more

A hidden gem along the Route 8 corridor in Glenshaw. A lovely hike anytime of year with lovely scenery along Fall Run. The trail is just about 3/4 of a mile each way, so makes for a nice little hike out and back to your car. read more

Spectacular gem with a scenic falls. Provides a scenic hike along a stream. Great for birdwatching, picnics, and hiking. In February, the park reopened with $1 million spent on the replacement of wooden stairs and 12 pedestrian bridges, trail improvements, stream restoration and erosion control. Take your camera, there are lots of opportunities to take photos. If you start at the lower end, the trail follows a stream, and eventually you end up at a spectacular view of the falls. Leaves you remarking, "I never knew this was here!" read more

Fall Run park is a really beautiful, gem of a park in the Pittsburgh area! It is well-maintained, and there is only really one trail -- along the stream that is easy to follow. Definitely family-friendly and dog-friendly. They have really nicely constructed bridges that take you back and forth across the stream. In the middle of the park is a pretty waterfall with variable water depending on how much it has rained previously. It's an overall quiet, nicely-maintained, and beautiful trail! read more

Fall Run Park is a beautiful nature trail! I came here to get out of the house, while trying to maintain social distance. The walk is very nice and quiet. It follows a creek that eventually leads to a very pretty waterfall. It's great for dogs, too! It is a short trail, so I would recommend this if you're looking for a brief "walk" rather than a long "hike". It can get crowded, and parking is limited, so make sure to get there early enough to get in and out. I am very much looking forward to visiting this park again! read more

This little park provides for a scenic, easy hike along a well-maintained trail. The waterfall was not the most robust - will probably be fuller in the spring. The new and improved Fall Run Park is worth checking out. I would highly recommend it for families with children as the trail is not too long and there are several places to stop and enjoy the scenery (or even a picnic lunch). The newly built bridges and steps along the trail itself make it easily accessible. It's not a far hike (about a mile in length one way), but the waterfall is a beautiful way to end your walk. Don't expect to work up much of a sweat, but if you're looking for a lovely community park where you can relax for a few hours this is a great spot. There are parking lots at either end of the park but I think the view walking from Fall Run Road (vs Ledgeview Drive) is better. I met a friend there on a weekday afternoon and it was already a popular attraction so expect some traffic within the park. read more

Fall Run is a hidden gem in the area. It's located off route 8 in the Shaler, probably 5-10 minutes north of Etna and 10 minutes south of Allison Park. The road off route 8 is right across from the Harley Dealership. I serioisly would have never guessed this beautiful trail to be hidden back there! There is a playground and a small ball field at the entrance which leads to the small parking area and begining of the trail. The trail leads you along a small Creek witch cute bridges and plenty of smaller waterfalls. It is seriously so pretty!! Ultimately the trail leads you to a set of stairs and the GOREGEOUS waterfall that is about a mile back! Breathtaking!! You climb the stairs to the top, where you can look down over the waterfall. There is also a small bench up there to relax. The trail does go on for linger, still following the creek. I've never actually found the end though! There is some damage due to recent storms - one bridge is down, but you can easily walk on some rocks in the creek to get to the other side. read more

The waterfall was also just a slight trickle, but still very neat to see. It is a beautiful and well-maintained park for a lovely weekend stroll or to bring the kids out in nature. We went to Fall Run Park for the first time this weekend. It was a super easy walk/hike that follows along a nice quiet stream. Great for even younger kids since the trail is very flat and smooth (only one small hill and one staircase to get to the top of the waterfall). Dogs would love this too. I gave 3 stars due to the trash and glass that was everywhere - I was leery of letting my kids in the water because of everything around the bank. Thankfully we had taken water shoes, and they did get in and had a blast. read more

One of my favorite places to walk. Wear appropriate shoes can be muddy on walking path.

i love this park. the trail is not very long but the views are great. the trail does get muddy easily so be sure to wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty. it is great for a quick jog/walk. read more
