Falafel Mafia bowl
Anne S.

When I'm out at the Eastern Prom I've found myself stopping by the Falafel Mafia truck a few times now--and although I've gotten the exact same thing every time, I'm hooked! No doubt their falafel in pita is terrific, but I'm a huge fan of the Mafia bowl: think falafel but without the bread, in a kind of salad with red quinoa. Seriously, I think this must be one of my favorite lunch items in the city by now. The falafel are NOT dry--this is important!--and the bowl is the perfect mix of those with the quinoa, fresh greens, diced tomatoes, pickles, and a tahini sauce. It's absolutely delicious, and on top of that it's super healthy! Always very nice staff working at the food truck too, and you can't beat the ambiance of the gorgeous Eastern Prom . . .

We got the falafel bowl with was presented beautifully. The falafel balls were cooked to order spiced really nice they were wonderful as were all the salads and the hummus. It was all excellent . I went back the next day for the swarma fries which were cooked to order and hot and delicious . I love this food truck.

Falafel mafia had a nice selection of menu options. Vegan as well as meat. It gets pretty busy on certain days. Nice area. Overlooking waterfront. Sometimes they can be out of certain ingredients so inquire before. Great falafel!

What is there not to like about this place? The food was so light, flavorful, and delicious. Hits all the textural complements inadore in this life. Creamy hummus, crunchy veggies, soft melty pita, perfect texture and moisture content of the falafel. I had the god father 2 days in a row and I have no regrets. I love that they have a online ordering system as waits can be long and crazy on the Eastern prom.

I love these guys. Love that you can order ahead of time online, and the food is so damn fresh. They've also started making smaller falafel balls, which is fun and makes it easier to eat. Still the best falafel I've ever had. Can't believe they get this flavor out of vegan options- their hummus is creamy, their harissa is perfectly spicy, their pickles are sweet and crunchy- it's just unbelievable quality. It's a little pricey but you absolutely get what you pay for. Get a pita pocket, a bowl, or a side of anything- you can't go wrong. And the best part is that the two guys that are always in this truck are happy to help. Even when absolutely slammed with a million orders, they're friendly and funny. That's rare and awesome. 10/10. A Portland staple.

Very limited number of items ok the menu but I don't mind that. The bowl is healthy and tasty. What I didn't appreciate was how they named certain items - it was misleading. The shawarma fries tasted exactly like barbecue flavored potato chips - nothing like shawarma. The prices are also too high for the portion size. The area they were parked in had a lovely ocean view and street parking wasn't too difficult to find on a cold October Sunday afternoon.

Falafel Mafia is DOPE. The Godfather pita is definitely the best, most filling option. I got the quinoa bowl one time and it just wasn't as much food or as good. Those fresh pitas make all the difference. For the better bang for your buck, get the Godfather and don't look back. Falafel Mafia's falafel is crispy and well-cooked. The sauce and hummus are great too. The one thing I will say is that these are very American-ized falafel options. That's not necessarily a bad thing at all, but this falafel is not accompanied by pickled veggies; it simply has lettuce and tomato with hummus and sauce. Again, NOT a bad thing, but just a note if that's not what you're looking for. The people who work the truck are super friendly. There is often an incredibly long line when this truck is at the concerts at Thompson's Point, and they always remain kind and helpful even in that chaos when customers are losing patience.

Yummm! I got the falafel bowl recently and was super impressed. I shared it with my husband but easily could have had my own. Lots of fresh yummies were in the bowl such as beets, carrot shreds, hummus, you name it. Great healthy option and you'll support a local business!

Soooo very good!!

Joy! So very very good! Pillowy pita stuffed with delicious vegetables falafel and toppings make me happy, happy indeed! Add in aside of shawarma spiced fries and You can't go wrong, so tasty! So yummy that it was only hours later, that I realized my lunch was vegetarian! So track this tuck down and line up its worth the effort!

Shawarma fries

I do not generally give 5 star reviews after a first visit somewhere... this is an exception for one explicit reason... My autistic four-year-old who is exceptionally picky when it comes to what he eats, genuinely consumed 2/3 of my order of shawarma seasoned French fries! In addition, as if more was needed, the guys on the truck word incredibly friendly. The bowls they serve things in say made from plants compostable, right on the top! The food itself is exceedingly delicious!! The tahini is creamy, humus is delicious, the Pita is beautifully soft and fresh, the individual falafel patties are crunchy and tasty in their own right without any sauce.. And as I said, the French fries are a huge hit with my kids as well as myself! Apparently they are on Spring street and temple street, by the nicelodeon cinema movie theater Tuesdays and Thursdays but travel elsewhere other days. On a busy afternoon, we surprised my wife with the mafia bowl in between appointments. She was thrilled at how delicious it was! We got to eat together for a few minutes in my vehicle and then she was back off to her tasks. This is somewhere we will absolutely find again in future!

The menu experience was smaller/limited options but offered "greatest hits" so that you didn't miss out on the overall experience. With seats right up at the counter and in perfect view of the kitchen, the team whipped out a coursed/well-timed menu. We enjoyed the chickpea fries, spread + breads, moroccan carrots, falafel, halloumi and to top it all off, the lamb ribs. It was so aggressive in the best way possible. The cocktail menu is fun, inventive and pairs well with most of the dishes. Their NA drinks were thankfully, not boring either. The only drawback for me here is the counter-top/high-top dining experience is the only available seating option unless you're participating in the upstairs private area. The restaurant is clearly very sleek and modern, but I felt like it took away from the experience of making this particularly special. Would recommend this restaurant for 2 people - hard to enjoy with a larger group!

My falafel wrap may be one of the best meals I've gotten in Portland, solely based on food-to-price ratio. The falafel was perfectly cooked, and the wrap was quite yummy. It came with these deep-fried "chips" (I'm sure they are something else) and a side of delicious hummus. I paid about $10 for the whole thing, including a soda. You just can't beat that. The menu was extensive and included a mix of sandwiches, salads, and plates. Would I go back to Mazzat? If I'm in the area, yes, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to make it there! In my opinion, this is more of a takeout spot. I did dine in, but the vibe is pretty much nonexistent -- a mix of about eight tables inside without much going on. All in all, I'm glad I tried it!

It feels like a secret, but I know it's not a well kept one! Our server Nico (apologies if I've misspelled that!) was wonderful. He was friendly and helpful when we made our dinner choices. The other servers were also always on top of keeping our table clear and our water filled. The food was absolute perfection. We started with a salad and grilled octopus. The salad was bright and acidic which paired perfectly with the best octopus dish I've had. It was so tender and delicious, I've never had octopus that was that tender. The grilled flavor came through immediately, but never overwhelmed the delicate flavor of the octopus. For mains I had sole francaise and my husband had bone in monkfish. The sole was melt in your mouth good. It was lightly breaded and cooked in a pan with brown butter. It was so toasty and nutty and coated the green beans and simple, but perfect, red potatoes it was served with. My husband's monkfish was fresh and perfectly toothsome, served with fluffy Roman gnocchi and romesco sauce. My only regret is not having enough room for dessert because I'm sure it's incredible as well! I can't wait to return the next time we're in Portland. Just to note: this is one of the least accessibility-friendly areas of the city. The old cobblestone road that it's located on is foot traffic only. The closest approach is if you're dropped off at the end of and it you would still have a short distance to travel. There is a brick footpath on the sides of the cobblestone road that is slightly smoother, but still not ideal. Earlier in the day I was able to navigate the street okay on foot so it will depend on your capabilities. That being said, I took my motorized travel chair down there in the evening and Street and co were happy to let me fold it up and store it near the door.
