When we originally stopped in to ask questions in July 2020, Susan answered our questions; she was one of 4 stylists that day in the salon. We noted on our 1st visit for haircuts with Susan how unfriendly all the other stylists seem to be. When we entered the salon for the our cuts, I said "good afternoon ladies"; & only Susan replied. Illness forced Susan to leave which we found out when we received a call from the salon informing us of just that. Our appointments were rescheduled with Melissa Hopkins. My husband's 1st haircut with Melissa left a big v shaped hole in the back of his head at the neck hairline. He wasn't happy. My 1st perm left me with a huge clump of front hair unpermed & 1/1/2" longer than the rest of my hair. I wasn't happy either. I said we should give Melissa a chance. So we returned for haircuts by Melissa. This time my spouse wasn't happy because she cut his hair too short on the sides so the hair stuck up. My haircut was okay. Quite frankly, we felt very uncomfortable in this salon; the owner & other stylists mostly ignored us; when the owner Vivian did actually speak to me the 1st time she complained about the smell of my perm. After watching how each of them interacted with other customers, we concluded that the only customers treated courteously by the owner & other stylists were born & raised in the South. We do not share that heritage. When I returned for my 2nd perm by Melissa, I asked to speak to her privately. I explained about the large clump of front hair which hadn't been cut properly or permed properly; I told her I almost returned for her to fix the problem. For personal reasons I was unable to actually do that. So I cut my hair & curled that part of my front hair myself. I told her that I was paying her for her expertise but I felt she was giving me the short end of the stick. I asked her to cut my hair before the perm & also requested that smaller rods be used. She did as I asked but not happily. After the perm which came out very well, I paid her in cash; Melissa said "I don't feel comfortable doing your hair so I'm cancelling your next appointment". I still tipped her $15. Unbeknown to me, she also cancelled my husband's next appointment too. We tried to keep our appointments together. My husband found out when he went into the salon to cancel his next appointment & Melissa said "I already did". Neither of us would recommend this salon unless it was the last salon on earth or you enjoy being ignored; or, you weren't born & raised in the South.

I had planned a lovely destination wedding at Palmetto Bluff but unfortunately Hurricane Matthew hit South Carolina. Since the resort was without power, I had to cancel my destination wedding and plan something locally. I would have loved to reschedule but half of my guest had traveled internationally to attend so it wasn't an option. Amazingly all of my vendors were understanding of the situation and offered full refunds with the exception of Jessica at Bride Side Beauty. I understand this was a difficult situation for everyone and I did not expect full refunds but was hopeful for at least 50% refunds. To be fair the contract did state "no refunds" but considering the situation I would have expected Jessica to do the right thing. I do fault myself for not reading the contract closer but honestly what bride thinks a natural disaster will ruin her wedding day. Jessica originally states that she would not provide any refund and my only option would be to reschedule - not a great option for someone who lives out of town. When she realized the contract did not specify a time-frame, she offered to meet me halfway and cancel the contract. However when she explained what she offered was only a 25% refund. I figured I was better to give away the services to someone else. Note: Jessica stated that she needs to revise her contract to take out this clause to "protect herself". Note, she doesn't carry insurance against loses of this type, instead she chooses to put the burden on her customers. BRIDES- Please read the contract closely and consider hiring a company with better business practices.
