She always asked thoughtful questions, gave realistic homework to work on between sessions, and genuinely inspired me to want to change and move forward. One thing to note is that Nicole isn't the type of therapist who just sits and listens. She offers her opinions and advice, which I haven't seen many therapists do. Sometimes those are hard truths, but nearly every time she turned out to be right. Her approach, which is grounded in research and data, properly framed our discussions and helped me face issues with confidence. If you're ready to put in the hard work, I highly recommend seeing Nicole. You won't be disappointed!

From my very first conversation with Dr. Nicole, she made me feel comfortable. She took the time to tell me about herself, asked thoughtful questions about my daughters, and really wanted to understand their personalities and needs. What I appreciated most was how personal and collaborative the process felt. She took the time to get to know both me and my girls, and we worked together throughout their journey. I could share things going on in their lives that might help guide conversations during sessions, and she was always supportive and understanding. She was also incredibly flexible and helpful with our constantly changing schedules. Most importantly, both of my daughters genuinely enjoy their sessions with her and feel connected and comfortable talking with her. I'm so grateful that she has been a safe and open door for them as they've grown up -- especially through big milestones like one of them graduating. I've truly been able to see positive emotional growth and maturity in both of them. As an added bonus, she was able to work with our Kaiser insurance, which made the process even easier for our family. I highly recommend Dr. Nicole to any parent looking for someone caring, personable, and genuinely invested in helping kids thrive.

I was a patient of Maria Acevedo for psychiatric care, and unfortunately, I was very disappointed…read morewith my experience. My biggest concern was the lack of communication when I was experiencing a serious and frightening issue. I began having hallucinations and reached out by both phone and email because I was scared and needed guidance. I did not receive a response. I also experienced repeated problems with prescriptions. There were times when prescriptions were not sent to the pharmacy or approvals were not completed, and I had to follow up myself. When you are already struggling with your mental health, having to repeatedly worry about getting your medication adds even more stress. I was also trying to pursue TMS treatment and needed help finding a provider whose schedule would work with my job. I did not feel that I received the support I needed in navigating that process. I understand that medical providers are busy and that mistakes can happen. However, after multiple communication and prescription issues--and particularly receiving no response when I reported hallucinations--I no longer felt comfortable relying on this practice for my psychiatric care. I have since found another psychiatrist. I am sharing my experience because I believe communication, responsiveness, and reliable medication management are extremely important when someone is seeking mental health treatment. I sincerely hope these areas improve for future patients.

Even after explaining the side effects I am experiencing due to the delay, I still have not received the support I need. When I spoke with Jeanette, she kept changing the reasons why my medication hadn't been refilled or why I hadn't received a call back from the doctor. At one point, she told me my insurance was not valid--without even having my file pulled up. I contacted my insurance company myself, and they confirmed there are no issues. Despite this, the office failed to set up my appointment the four different times I reached out. To make matters worse, when I asked to speak with a manager, Jeanette transferred me back to the main line instead of connecting me with anyone who could actually help. This level of negligence is unacceptable, especially in healthcare where people's lives and well-being are at stake. Since they do not want to help me , I will be taking the next step of reporting this office. Patients deserve staff who take their health seriously, follow through, and provide accurate information.

A Nightmare with Discovery's Billing and Leadership While my son's medical treatment was acceptable, my experience with Discovery's administrative and financial departments has been an unmitigated disaster. For nearly two years, I've been relentlessly trying to get them to submit a claim to my son's secondary insurance. Despite countless emails and phone calls, I've been met with an endless cycle of excuses, including claims of missed emails, misdirected communications, and empty promises of escalation and follow-up within 24 hours--promises that were never fulfilled. This gross incompetence has resulted in me paying approximately $3,000 out of pocket. To compound this frustration, Discovery inexplicably sent a fraudulent charge of over $400 to a collections agency. When I disputed this erroneous claim, the collection agency itself confirmed that Discovery verified the amount was invalid and ceased their collection efforts. It's clear that Discovery's insurance billing, accounting practices, and overall leadership are severely dysfunctional. Their operational failures have caused significant financial strain and immense personal frustration.
