I am incredibly grateful to have found Dr. Justin Houman. After nearly 20 years of recurring…read moretesticular pain and consultations with multiple urologists, I discovered him through extensive research. I ultimately traveled from the East Coast to California specifically to be evaluated by him, and I am very thankful that I made that decision. From the moment I walked into the office, I felt comfortable, respected, and genuinely cared for. Having an all-male staff also made it easier to discuss such personal and sensitive concerns. They easily understood my issue and I appreciated the privacy, professionalism, and dignity I experienced throughout my visit. Dr. Houman is exceptionally knowledgeable, professional, and compassionate. He took the time to truly listen to my concerns and experiences, explained everything clearly, and answered all of my questions without ever making me feel rushed or dismissed. I also appreciated having ultrasound capabilities available in the office, which made the evaluation convenient and efficient. What stood out to me most was the combination of excellent medical care and a welcoming, respectful environment. After dealing with this issue for so many years, it meant a great deal to finally have a physician who took the time to listen carefully and provide thoughtful care. I am extremely grateful for the care I received from Dr. Houman and his entire team. I would sincerely recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled, compassionate, respectful, and trustworthy urologist. Traveling across the country to see him was absolutely worthwhile, and I will continue to see him for my future urological needs.

This one is not covered by insurance fully and would have cost me an additional 2000$ out of pocket. Weeks after my consult they told me there was another option that's covered. When I left after my vasectomy they gave me no instructions or post op info. At my post operation apt just now I stood there dropped my pants for the dr to examine me and a nurse without knocking opened the door with me exposed to the waiting room. Me and the dr both said to stop and she just opened it up to give something to the dr. I don't doubt the dr skill level but this clinic itself NOT IDEAL. They can do what you need but the clinic staff is sub par. Oh and ask the assistants in your office over sure to not say "whoops SORRY" mid procedure, not a fun thing to hear.

When I first met him, it was because I had been through months of seeing various providers (OBGYN, GI, primary care) to help identify various hormonal issues I was having, I was told my IUD was ineffective, placed on oral contraceptives, changed oral contraceptives, took my IUD out... all over the place as guesses. When I found Dr. Gonzalez, he knew exactly what had been going on, ran some labs to confirm, and placed me on a treatment that literally solved everything. It took some time, but I saw immediate changes. I have since referred hundreds of patients who come to me with similar issues after going through years of various doctors without help. I cannot express how many times patients tell me how grateful they were to find some direction to their care in helping them get back to normal after years of no answers. He is always professional, has very friendly office staff, and for a specialist in what he does, almost all of my patients are able to be seen within 2 weeks, which is almost unheard of for a specialist, normally people have to wait months. He is also one of the only providers in his field that accept insurance. Anyone suffering from pelvic pain or hormonal imbalances should consider seeing him if they do not want to go years with untrained professionals who almost always make things worse.

Thanked me for taking the time out of my busy schedule, to get there, and early. If he's running a little late, he has always apologized so far, although one cannot undo tardiness. But at least he's not late like a lot of these gynecology offices are, and with no apologies nor real attempts to improve, to use as one example. Some of the few things I would say to work on are perhaps to not try to sway a patient to use the portal. If this is in UCLA's staff training, they need to stop doing this. There are many patients like me who prefer for various reasons not to use the portal. And we should never be made to feel that we won't get as good of a response from the doctor and office if we choose not to use it, being direct or indirect about it. We also should not be told falsehoods/insinuations like, how 'everyone else is using the portal" 'it's easier to use than calling in, and that it is implied that "I'm the only one that doesn't use the portal" or maybe even 'most people use the portal- so should you'- kind of a disposition- no matter how true some of those might be, even if)'. This is not so much a singling out of this doctor, but this is to say that a lot of UCLA DOCTORS AND admin staff do indeed do and and imply these things and it is not right. There was also no toilet paper in the restroom when I was being asked to empty my bladder. So I had to wipe my hands on my pants, I've noticed that in many offices offices, the soap is all out in the bathrooms too. This may seem small and/or people would want to minimize such valid concerns, but this all adds up when employees are being evaluated for delivering the patient- centered care that we pay them for. Front desk is 'okay', perhaps like most UCLA staffs, but I'm a pretty cheerful patient, despite the severity of my physical illnesses, so was able to smooth over some of the front desk's abruptness when she was talking loudly to me across the room to put a Mask on. I therefore had to slowly turn around to see Her, and then kindly had to tell tell her to just give me a few seconds as I was trying to set my purse, backpack and bag all down while I was waiting to be taken back to see the MD. In summation, I like the doctor so I'm going to try to stay with him permanently, but hopefully the office will improve with these things permanently.
