James
Jennifer M.

Dr Souroush Adam Ramin is looking after my autistic son James. James lost his right testicle to cancer on May 30, 2019. I was assured that he was 100% cured and that I should wait until January/ February 2021 before testing him again. I was scolded and quoted statistics for trying to getting him tested sooner. I am so grateful to Dr Ramin for taking this matter seriously and not just quoting statistics at me. Statistics are fine if you are buying a car, but when it's your child's life, you want to weigh your child's specific reality as well as the insurance statistics. James's Tumor Marker has steadily climbed since he finished chemo in 2019. While I was told he was well, he did not seem well to me. He never bounced back and was bedridden most of this past year. Dr Ramin ordered tests other doctors refused to order until next year. It would be a sin to allow James to suffer until January 2021 and have to go through metastasis TWICE. Autistic people deserve early diagnosis as much as the general population. Some doctors blame autism for late diagnosis but with today's technology there are ways around the problems. James has multiple, unrelated health issues and some doctors are reluctant to even try to diagnose him because of this. An autistic person who can't keep a Zio patch heart monitor on CAN have an implant monitor (according to the psychiatrist/neurologist we consulted) to rule out heart disease as the cause of sharp pain and fainting. James is on Warfarin because he has a history of blood clots and has Factor II G20210A mutation. I had been told by one angry cardiologist that I must simply accept James could suffer sudden death from a blood clot at any minute. That is not true. James is now taking Warfarin and can have a long happy life. There is never a need to throw up your hands and say autistic people can't be diagnosed. If you believe your autistic child is sick but their doctor is doing nothing, take the advice a psychiatrist who examined James gave me: Go AROUND any doctor who will not help your son. You are his advocate. Keep going until you find a doctor who will help him. Don't let them give him Ativan again (the psychiatrist carefully weaned James off Ativan and was appalled by the psych medications other doctors had given James with to make him stop crying (when he had undiagnosed cancer that was metastasizing). James was even given an injection of Haldol to make him shut up in the ER and it shut his throat closed. He had a severe allergic reaction to it. He was crying in PAIN but it was treated as a mental illness because he is autistic. The repeated over use of Ativan in the emergency room also caused withdrawals that almost killed James). The psychiatrist told me: "Your son is NOT mentally ill. Autism is not a mental illness. I believe your son has physical pain. Go around any doctor who will not help your son." Sadly, James's cancer was diagnosed in the Emergency Room because none of the doctors who were treating him at the time would order tests other than urine tests to prove it wasn't a bladder infection. They blamed autism. They blamed me. They told me to use behavior modification, to do my job as a mother and to MAKE him get out of bed. Even when the cancer made James limp Christmas 2018, his urologist and primary care said "autistic people often walk funny." The cancer in the right testicle had attached the testicle to the skin of James's scrotum. It hurt to walk. I showed his doctors video of him walking. When the right testicle was removed via TWO incisions because it was attached to his skin, in May 2019, James stopped walking funny. It wasn't autism. It was cancer. I am very grateful to Dr Ramin for taking this seriously. It is beyond heartbreaking that other doctors are still telling me nothing is wrong with James, that it can wait until 2021. Something is wrong. James is not well. Thank God for Dr Ramin. I highly recommend him.

Words cannot fully express my gratitude to Dr. Cohen…read more A different surgeon had stated I urgently needed surgery, warned that exercise was dangerous for my condition, and stated he would clear his schedule to operate as soon as possible. I felt uneasy about this assessment, and had read online that this doctor has performed "unnecessary surgeries". At the suggestion of my internist, I saw Dr. Cohen for a second opinion. I'm so glad I did. Dr. Cohen took the time to thoroughly review my situation and said that I do NOT need surgery right now. He assured me it's safe to exercise, and that if anything changes, surgery can still be considered--but I may not need it at all! Dr. Cohen explained everything clearly, and I trust him. Thank you, Dr. Cohen!

The check-in process was smooth, efficient, and welcoming. Meeting Dr. Jason Cohen was truly an absolute pleasure and an honor. He is incredibly knowledgeable and skilled, yet remains humble and deeply caring, which is rare and so meaningful as a patient. Dr. Cohen went above and beyond by making it possible for me to see another specialist the very next day -- he truly moved mountains and brought me immense peace of mind. I am beyond grateful for his care and dedication. We are incredibly lucky to have Dr. Jason Cohen as a provider. Thank you for this amazing experience and for allowing me to be under such exceptional care.

All the other doctors were booked out two weeks and had layers upon layers of bureaucracy, but Dr. Raffi's practice is "concierge" and made an appointment for me at the end of his day so I ran to Beverly Hills. His appointment cost was only 25 dollars more than my local doctors and I didn't have to wait. After several vocal tests and inspection, found I hadn't lost my voice but had a "lesion" on my vocal cord! He stuck all the cameras and the scopes all around my throat and through my nose and everything until I saw a freaking PICTURE of this thing in the screen. Soon we scheduled the surgery, and I am recovering as we speak (no pun intended). His staff is pretty cool and very accommodating, and Brandon, his scheduler is pretty cool and always dresses nice. The nurses are kind and prompt as well. I had a question once and tried to call outside operating hours and Dr. Raffi even called me on his personal cell phone promptly afterwards. I don't think one can expect much better than this...

I contacted Dr.Toomari as he seemed of high acumen, has an incredible reputation and the internet is flooded with glowing reviews! The kind office staff was able to accommodate my initial consultation quickly. (Within a week) and into surgery within 2 weeks. Everything moved quickly! Dr.Toomari diagnosed me with a relatively small epigastric hernia. I explained that I was a physically active person and he offered 2 options: open or robotic surgery. He explained both options and we elected with open, no mesh. It was evident he was the surgeon for the job as you could tell by his explanations, image and confidence that he is highly skilled. The surgery was straight forward, in and out 2hrs outpatient. Physical motion was hard the first 2 days but incrementally became reasonably tolerable by day 3. Huge kudos to the office staff (Sharlyn and Kimya) they answered all my questions and responded quickly to my text messages. They were patient and thorough with my disability paperwork. Overall, I'd highly recommend Dr.Toomari and staff.

My friend had SMILE done by Dr. Lee about 9 months before I began diving seriously into the procedures. I met with 2 other clinics, but ultimately chose CCRS because of the fact that my fiance and I met with Dr. Lee during the consultation itself. He stayed with us for almost an hour to walk me through my options and his recommendations. He appeared to be intelligent, empathic, humorous, and above all, he was straight with me. Other clinics with a dedicated marketing operations team are a lot more sales-y, so I felt more comfortable with Dr. Lee, and all my appointments have been so streamlined and efficient. I was a good candidate for either SMILE or LASIK, but based on my preferences for longevity, I went with LASIK. Paperwork and pre-procedure instructions were sent to me in advance, and overall I think it went smoothly! I wasn't bothered at all by the lasers as I knew what to expect. I'm currently on days 5-6 of recovery and will be seeing Dr. Lee in another follow-up appointment next week. My vision continues to fluctuate a bit but that's a normal part of healing. My fiance is also interested in getting his refractive surgery done by Dr. Lee, and I recommended a family friend to him recently too. CCRS has free parking onsite, located nearby excellent Korean food, and facilities are super clean. Staff are friendly and highly efficient. So far, I'm happy with my results, which I hope will continue to improve.

However, a couple years later, one of my eye regressed very quickly to a point where I couldn't see clearly driving (pretty much driving reliant on my one good eye). So I decided to return for a 2nd lasik procedure. The first time I didn't feel any pain and thought it was a very fast procedure. The 2nd time, however, there were pain and I was actually squirming trying to hold off the pain. Procedure went well for another couple years. Fast forward to today, the vision in one eye is very bad while the other eye is slowly regressing, no longer 20/20. I know I had bad astigmatism but I was under the assumption that it would at least last many years before it regressed again. My questions are , do you guys offer free post touch-up laser surgery? I would love to get a fix or and adjustment. I work night shift and it's making it very hard to drive at night, especially with the halos and headlights. My 2nd question, do you recommend any other procedures besides Lasik for a permanent fix? I feel like a 3rd lasik procedure would be risky and cause too many side effects.

I work in the medical field over 10 years and I rarely run into rude providers so I definitely needed to write a review about her . She might be a doctor and clearly book-smart, but it's obvious she couldn't comprehend real-world or street-level common sense if it slapped her in the face. If this is how you treat potential patients, you don't deserve to have any. Full stop.
