We were recommended to use Kimberley Lynn's team at Fairway Mortgage by our real estate agent. At first, they seemed friendly and on top of it but as time went on they became overbearing, inconsiderate, and slightly condescending. Although they were quick at responding to all of my questions, concerns, and comments, they did so in a reluctant manner. The following 5 interactions are why we will be switching lenders as soon as possible:
1. After our real estate agent recommended Kimberley Lynn's team, we received several emails and calls. When we told them that we were looking around at other lenders and rates, we received even more emails and calls. We were eventually reassured that going with them would give us the best rates and chance of getting an offer accepted. However, when we finally locked in our rate it was still high (5.6) even though we both have high credit scores and a low debt to income ratio. When we asked why the rate was so high they told us that they did all these things to make it as low as it was and that we weren't going to do much better elsewhere. They also decided to exclude me and my income from the process but already pulled my credit. We went to other lenders and got quoted, they were willing to give us a much lower rate (4.3) but unfortunately it was too late to switch.
2. After we put down an offer on a house and didn't get our offer accepted, we told Kimberley and her team that we wanted to wait to lock in everything until we found another house to purchase. It had already taken us 9ish months to find a place we wanted to put in an offer and we were expecting it to take another few months to find a similar place. We didn't want to lock in a high rate and have a hard inquiry on our credit before we found a house and an offer was accepted. But when we tried to explain this to Kimberley and her team, they didn't try to understand the situation, they just tried to convince us to move forward and continued to spam us with emails.
3. Well, shortly after that we actually did find a place we loved, put in our offer, and got it accepted so we regretfully decided to move forward with Fairway Mortgage. We had some questions and Kimberley kept referring us to other members on her team which is fine but she became unreachable at that point.
4. We were in no rush to close and we preferred to close as late as possible so we could provide more funds at closing but Fairway Mortgage kept recommending that we close as soon as possible and kept recommending to waive or dismiss different things so we could close sooner rather than later. One of those things was the appraisal. Now, we really wanted to do the appraisal because there's a chance that our monthly payment would go down if the appraisal came in low and if the appraisal came in high, we would know if we got a good deal. I, for one, would like to know the value of my home or the value of such a big purchase. Anyway, when I told them that we didn't want to waive the appraisal, their response was "it's maybe the inspection you're thinking of" like I didn't know the difference between an appraisal and a home inspection.
5. But the thing that upset us the most throughout the entire process was they put on this fake cheery persona and lead us to believe they were working in our best interest but, in reality, they were only helping themselves.
I do not recommend this team to anyone. We are eagerly waiting for the day we can refinance and use a different lender. read more
