Unfortunately, one of our cats, Rocky has had to visit many times over the years and everyone is always professional, kind, and compassionate with him, even when he may not have been. We've always felt welcomed and cared for--not just our pet, but us as well. They take time to explain everything , answer all our questions and concerns. Even during emergency visits. The level of care and attention they provide is always outstanding. It's clear they genuinely love what they do and treat their patient's as if it was their own. We always leave feeling confident and grateful, knowing our pets were in the best hands possible. Highly recommended. Photo of Rocky.

The other vet location here in town said they had availability right away and seemed concerned, until learning we lived in Boise. When calling West End I spoke with Tabetha, who was also concerned for my pet after explaining his sudden change in behavior and health. Tabetha got us in right away for immediate care and offered her advice for our vet and trip back home. Thank you, Tabetha, for caring and loving animals the way you do. You'll be happy to hear he's doing better thanks to you! He's also seeking further help you recommended from his vet here in Boise.

They worked hard to help me do the best for my standard poodle with kidney disease. Harli went out of her way to earn his trust on his 4 day stay which put my mind at ease. They are thorough with their exams, take the time to answer ALL your questions, and always took my concerns seriously when I knew something was "off" with my boy and worked to get him in ASAP. When it came time to let him finally rest, all of us in the room had tears. That speaks volumes to me. They are family at this point. There is mention in other reviews that they don't answer the phone but they are REALLY responsive with texts and I have found that works better than multiple calls. Yes, they are not taking new clients but when they are, I suggest you high-tail it over there. Bonus: They take Care Credit!!!

They show concern, are attentive, and they are helpful. Their prices beat other vet clinics too. I don't really care for their call system, but their texting system is easier to get through. I also like that they see large animals and farm animals. I have not officially worked here. I am not a x coworker... but I have done Veterinarian shadowing here before and "filled in or worked/assisted" here before. I shadowed 5 different Veterinarian clinic in the area. Only this place and 1 other vet clinic treated animals with care behind the scenes. They were careful and not rough. They do not man handle your pet whether conscious or unconscious. They are careful when holding/gripping a pet. They do not throw your pet. And so many other things that I witnessed at other Vet clinics... they are great here! This a huge thing to me. Because I am an animal lover like many others. And care for the pet's well being. Valley View is a great establishment!

Losing a pet is one of the hardest things anyone can go through. I, myself, am a disabled Army…read moreveteran and had gotten a dog to assist with PTSD, anxiety, and depression. As he got older, 10 years old, he had pain and became increasingly aggressive. I had to make the hardest decision of my life to put him to sleep after he got into a dog fight with a neighbors dog. The front desk staff, who saw what my appointment was for, was very kind and was quick to get me into a room and set the table up for my dog. Knowing it was going to be impossible to hold myself together, I handed the receptionist my card and said to charge what needed to be charged but I wouldn't stop after everything was done. She confirmed wanting my dog's remains to be cremated and returned and then ran my card for $533.45. She ran it and brought in everything for me to sign. Fast forward, the doctor (Dr. Nathan Debner) and a tech came into the room. Debner started his routine speech about how he knows it's a hard decision - to which I told him I appreciated what he was trying to do but couldn't go through the speech. He then said he was going to give the sedative. After he gave it he said he'd be back in 10-15 minutes - to which I responded with what do you mean? I had worked as a veterinary assistant for nearly six years and had never heard of such a thing. He explained that the medicine needed time to kick in. After 15 minutes, they came back in and he wasn't sedated enough- so he left to get another dose and returned to give it. After giving it he said he went in the muscle this time and it should work faster. When he returned I frustratedly told him that this was a giant s*** show and I don't understand how it's acceptable that an owner has to sit here and watch their dog fight anesthesia and be in and out of it for over 45 minutes. He left the room. When he returned, he stated that I could stay by my dog's face because they'd be administering the lethal dose in the hind leg. After poking around on him for a while, he blow my dog's blood vein. He told me what happened and swapped sides. I was holding my dog as he dug around in the second leg for over a minute, again blowing the vein. He told me he blew it and he needed to be able to take the dog in the back where he had better lighting to do the front leg. I agreed, not fully understanding that he was putting my dog to sleep without me but assuming that he would be inserting a catheter since I said I wanted to be present. He assured me they'd be back and they returned with my deceased dog a few minutes later. When they came in I realized my dog was gone. I asked him and he said yes. I lost my temper and said it was bulls*** and that I told them I wanted to be present. As I was talking to him he had a grin on his face and was nodding. I questioned what he was thinking and he tried to interject. I told him to get out of the room to which he again cut me off and I lost it. He finally departed the room and my dog, was just lying there, gone, without my final goodbye. I threw a can on the ground and a woman center into the room and told me she couldn't have me acting out. I said do you even know what happened. She said she didn't. I explained it and she just said that he was a competent doctor to which I disagreed. After arguing back and forth about it being unacceptable and them making my hardest day harder. I asked why they didn't put a catheter in and her response was people in this area don't have that kind of money so it's not their common practice. I told her a gave them my card and told them I didn't care about the cost. She just continued trying to argue with me. I was trying to say goodbye to the shell that was my dog - my best friend - and she just hovered over me in the room until I left. If you have a pet, especially one who is your best friend or one that means everything to you, I highly recommend finding another veterinary clinic and if you are attached to this clinic see any other doctor. My dog went out slowly. I watched him fade out for over an hour, I watched him fight the medication, I listened to him whine and do a sedated bark, I watched him glaze over... All that and I still didn't get to hold him when he passed.

Repeatedly we told them that it was impossible that she has ingested Marijuana. The vet offered treatments based on the assumption of Marijuana ingestion, but no other ideas or options were offered. Upon arriving home I re-sesrched the house. I saw the cleaner I was using in the bathroom (where our dog was with me the whole time I was cleaning). It was a strong tea tree cleaner. I looked up online if that could be the problem and low and behold it appeared to be 100% in keeping with our situation. The vet assumed the entire time that it was Marijuana and failed to even mention Tea Tree (despite it being a common substance in homes). They failed to even listen to me about Marijuana not being a possible problem and did not even explore or consider any other possibilities. I called back to get help and am currently waiting for someone to call me back. This is frightening and frustrating. Edit: I did receive a call and got information regarding tea tree poisoning later on. The vets did check up on my dog the next day.
