The staff, sensing our dilema and urgency, managed to find time in their busy schedule to arrange for euthanasia of our pet within hours. The personnel at Magic Valley Veterinary Hospital, were outstanding- they enabled us to deal with a deeply distress ing and profoundly sad moment with genuine care and compassion. We cannot recommend this veterinary practice more highly, and will seek them out when we require care for our remaining two dogs. Thank you MVP.

Losing a pet is one of the hardest things anyone can go through. I, myself, am a disabled Army…read moreveteran and had gotten a dog to assist with PTSD, anxiety, and depression. As he got older, 10 years old, he had pain and became increasingly aggressive. I had to make the hardest decision of my life to put him to sleep after he got into a dog fight with a neighbors dog. The front desk staff, who saw what my appointment was for, was very kind and was quick to get me into a room and set the table up for my dog. Knowing it was going to be impossible to hold myself together, I handed the receptionist my card and said to charge what needed to be charged but I wouldn't stop after everything was done. She confirmed wanting my dog's remains to be cremated and returned and then ran my card for $533.45. She ran it and brought in everything for me to sign. Fast forward, the doctor (Dr. Nathan Debner) and a tech came into the room. Debner started his routine speech about how he knows it's a hard decision - to which I told him I appreciated what he was trying to do but couldn't go through the speech. He then said he was going to give the sedative. After he gave it he said he'd be back in 10-15 minutes - to which I responded with what do you mean? I had worked as a veterinary assistant for nearly six years and had never heard of such a thing. He explained that the medicine needed time to kick in. After 15 minutes, they came back in and he wasn't sedated enough- so he left to get another dose and returned to give it. After giving it he said he went in the muscle this time and it should work faster. When he returned I frustratedly told him that this was a giant s*** show and I don't understand how it's acceptable that an owner has to sit here and watch their dog fight anesthesia and be in and out of it for over 45 minutes. He left the room. When he returned, he stated that I could stay by my dog's face because they'd be administering the lethal dose in the hind leg. After poking around on him for a while, he blow my dog's blood vein. He told me what happened and swapped sides. I was holding my dog as he dug around in the second leg for over a minute, again blowing the vein. He told me he blew it and he needed to be able to take the dog in the back where he had better lighting to do the front leg. I agreed, not fully understanding that he was putting my dog to sleep without me but assuming that he would be inserting a catheter since I said I wanted to be present. He assured me they'd be back and they returned with my deceased dog a few minutes later. When they came in I realized my dog was gone. I asked him and he said yes. I lost my temper and said it was bulls*** and that I told them I wanted to be present. As I was talking to him he had a grin on his face and was nodding. I questioned what he was thinking and he tried to interject. I told him to get out of the room to which he again cut me off and I lost it. He finally departed the room and my dog, was just lying there, gone, without my final goodbye. I threw a can on the ground and a woman center into the room and told me she couldn't have me acting out. I said do you even know what happened. She said she didn't. I explained it and she just said that he was a competent doctor to which I disagreed. After arguing back and forth about it being unacceptable and them making my hardest day harder. I asked why they didn't put a catheter in and her response was people in this area don't have that kind of money so it's not their common practice. I told her a gave them my card and told them I didn't care about the cost. She just continued trying to argue with me. I was trying to say goodbye to the shell that was my dog - my best friend - and she just hovered over me in the room until I left. If you have a pet, especially one who is your best friend or one that means everything to you, I highly recommend finding another veterinary clinic and if you are attached to this clinic see any other doctor. My dog went out slowly. I watched him fade out for over an hour, I watched him fight the medication, I listened to him whine and do a sedated bark, I watched him glaze over... All that and I still didn't get to hold him when he passed.

I have relied on Healing Hands many times because my local vet too busy to see my dog or sickness…read morehappened on weekend and I really love the vets here. The wait can be long but once I saw vet, the care was excellent and quick and I was always given very detail information what test results were and the strategy for healing. Medication always made dog healthy again. If these guys were full time vets, I would switch my vet immediately. I'm thankful they are around in the hours when all the other vets are gone for the night and weekends!

Repeatedly we told them that it was impossible that she has ingested Marijuana. The vet offered treatments based on the assumption of Marijuana ingestion, but no other ideas or options were offered. Upon arriving home I re-sesrched the house. I saw the cleaner I was using in the bathroom (where our dog was with me the whole time I was cleaning). It was a strong tea tree cleaner. I looked up online if that could be the problem and low and behold it appeared to be 100% in keeping with our situation. The vet assumed the entire time that it was Marijuana and failed to even mention Tea Tree (despite it being a common substance in homes). They failed to even listen to me about Marijuana not being a possible problem and did not even explore or consider any other possibilities. I called back to get help and am currently waiting for someone to call me back. This is frightening and frustrating. Edit: I did receive a call and got information regarding tea tree poisoning later on. The vets did check up on my dog the next day.

I couldn't believe that with those big clear nails that you see the quick so easily, that one was cut too short. Normally, I do them myself, and I was not asked if I wanted the groomer to cut them. From what I read in the reviews the grooming employees need more training and handling experience. The dog did not suffer from an infection or anything. Though having that happen once makes a dog fearful of having their nails trimmed again. As far as the store goes, it is a convenient location and I stop in there often. I have found many great deals there over the years.

I tried explaining to the lady that it's not my issue they handed me the wrong invoice & that i was not coming back for HER mistake. She got extremely rude with me & blocked me in their system. Mind you, I take my dogs to petsmart every 8 weeks to get their hair cut. I buy all their food, treats & toys there. I have NEVER had an experience like this before. I travel the country full time so I go to new petsmarts every time. DO NOT GO HERE.
