Every day I get a call from either the occupational therapist, the nurse in charge of her care plan, or someone else with an update. Shana is awesome as a nurse coordinator, Denise her aide is so amazing and such a hard worker, the head nurse in charge on Thanksgiving went out of her way to make things happen for requests we had. My mom was able to call from her cell one evening and needed something small.....a box of tissues and asked me to call a nurse...within minutes she was attended to. Mom is a picky eater and she loves the food there. We still have approximately 10 or more days to go but I am very pleased with her care thus far and would highly recommend Encompass Health Erie.

Things we found unacceptable...waiting over a half hour for help going to the bathroom resulting in embarrassing accidents. No family member being made aware of her being taken to the hospital. They also sent new girls all of the time so she had no idea what stranger was coming to her house day after day. However, most of the help she had were young girls that were still going to school (nothing wrong with that) but had absolutely no experience with home care. Didn't know how to clean, cook, make a bed or do laundry. They didn't drive, so they had to take a bus and were always late or simply didn't show up. Because they didn't drive they could not get her groceries or take her for any appointments, which they said they would do for her. They were young and ALWAYS had their phone in their hands. They sat, fell asleep, played on their phones, did not finish their duties. Would wash dishes but wouldn't dry them and put them away. They would ask mom for food or drink. Many times mom shared her dinner (frozen dinners that my sister and I had prepared) with them because they were hungry. I would NOT recommend this company for home care. So many times I would call my mom and she would be crying because she was so upset with her help or should I say non-help. My opinion is if they paid more they could get professional help that know how to do their job, not a bunch of kids who really don't care or have any idea what they are doing. The 1/2 star is for the good ones. Thankfully she had a couple of them.

There is a large cafeteria and a small room where residents were watching old movies. My aunt's room was quite tidy, and greeting cards and other decorations were displayed tastefully. She can't decorate anymore herself, as she can't see and can't move around very well, and her family is unable to visit daily. I appreciate the work of the staff in making a home for her.
