I have a multitude of dental procedure related trauma and even cleanings are painful on my very sensitive teeth. Dr. Rick let me meander about every negative experience and all of my needs without judgement. He was extremely gentle, checked in constantly to make sure he wasn't hurting me, and had the decency to remove his hands and instruments from my mouth when he wanted me to answer a question. I honestly can't remember the last time I had such a pain-free experience. The fact that he was a pleasant conversationalist was a bonus. Oh. It's a brand new practice although he's been practicing for 10 years at another practice. He's very caring, explained everything, is meticulous, and has a great personality! Also, Gina at the front desk proactively checks on insurance coverage without even being asked. I was waiting to provide a review until most of my immediate dental concerns were managed, and having been through it, I have to give 5 stars. Elite Dental is a highly professional, organized, well-functioning, and attentive dentistry clinic. If you're looking to save money, or cut corners, this place isn't for you because at ED you pay a premium to have remarkable care and service. From the office cleanliness, organization and timing, down to the dental chairs, and staff - no small detail is spared. In particular, one element that I love is their insane transparency around price. Before any procedure, there are multiple people (staff to dentist) that walk through what the produce entails, what it costs and why. This is a big deal considering today's dental climate where there are stories of dentists who recommend procedures when they aren't needed. I came to Dr. Hartman for a simple cleaning, but over the course of many months came to trust her and her team so much that I was willing to undergo major procedures that I had put off for years. As a child my front tooth was chipped and over the years, new dentists put new artificial wrappers around it, creating a worse situation every year. Dr. Hartman walked me through the risks of continuing that route long term and recommended a crown, while being very honest about the long term advantages, as well as the short term costs. What I loved so much about her and her team was their willingness to recommend the right approach, but not being pushy about it. They balanced empathy for my own concerns with education and knowledge so that I was well informed in my decision making. Last, but not least, Regina - who currently manages the front staff - is also super organized, direct, honest, and empathetic. Its something that I appreciate greatly about Elite Dental - they are willing to take feedback and hear your concerns, and then make things right. I do want to give credit where it's due: the dentist herself was very kind, and the hygienist I saw at my most recent visit (I believe his name was Jim) was also wonderful. Unfortunately, those positive interactions haven't outweighed the negatives. My overall experience has been frustrating due to poor communication, a rude interaction with one hygienist, and repeated scheduling and administrative issues. At my first appointment, I was scheduled for 7:00 a.m. It was my first time there, it was raining, and I had trouble finding the parking lot, so I arrived about 10 minutes late. There was no one at the front desk when I arrived, and someone finally came out around 7:15 to check me in. The hygienist was very rude and unwelcoming about my being late and told me they could no longer do my cleaning, only the initial X-rays, scans, and evaluation. She referenced a 15-minute grace-period policy, which I was not aware of. It was only when I was signing paperwork after the appointment that I saw that information. What made the experience even more frustrating was that I then spent about 30 minutes waiting for the dentist to come in and review my X-rays and scans. I ended up missing a work meeting and didn't get home until around 9:00 a.m. for what had originally been a 7:00 a.m. appointment. For my second visit, I was specifically trying to schedule one appointment for both the cleaning and a needed filling because I wanted to take care of everything in one return visit. I was given an appointment on June 19, but no one told me when I scheduled it that only the cleaning could be done that day. I arrived early and was then told the dentist wasn't in and I'd have to come back again for the filling. My frustration was really with the lack of communication. Had I known in advance, I would have scheduled a different appointment on a day when both could be completed rather than making two additional trips. My third visit itself went fine, but nearly two months later I unexpectedly received another bill for $61, bringing the total I paid for that visit to nearly $200, despite having paid what I was told I owed at the end of each appointment. When I reached out, I learned that the additional balance stemmed from an administrative error on their end: the filling had originally been entered incorrectly and was later corrected, resulting in an additional amount owed after insurance processed the corrected claim. I understand mistakes happen, but receiving an unexpected bill that much later, with no explanation until I asked, was frustrating. Any one of these issues on its own would have been understandable. Taken together, though, they've created a pattern of poor communication and administrative errors that has cost me a lot of extra time, inconvenience, and money.

This was my first and will absolutely be my last appointment with Geoffrey Caligan…read more I made the appointment specifically to address my front teeth, which were chipped in a car accident. I had not addressed them sooner because the same accident resulted in a severe clavicle fracture requiring surgery, a plate, and six screws. After months of recovery, my teeth were next on my list. The appointment somehow turned into Caligan recommending extraction of two back molars that I have already been receiving treatment for elsewhere. He also told me I may need veneers for my front teeth, which I understand may be an appropriate treatment and was not the issue. The issue was how he responded when I explained that my teeth chipped in the accident. Caligan attributed the damage to grinding and told me he "wouldn't lie to insurance" by saying they chipped in the accident. I was stunned. I never asked him to lie, exaggerate an injury, or falsify anything. I simply told him what happened. If he believed grinding contributed to the damage, he could have explained that professionally. Instead, I was made to feel as though I was being accused of dishonesty. The appointment then became almost absurd. Caligan told me he was going to his office to put together pricing and treatment options. He left the room and never came back. I sat there waiting, still wearing the dental bib, until I eventually removed it myself and went to the front desk. I spoke with the receptionist because I was genuinely confused about whether my appointment was even over. I ultimately left without another word from Caligan. I never received the pricing comparisons he said he was preparing, any treatment information, or even a follow-up. Complete silence. What I DID receive was a bill in the mail for more than $140. I went in looking for help with teeth damaged following a serious car accident and left feeling accused of dishonesty and literally abandoned in the exam room. I still have none of the promised treatment or pricing information, but apparently there was no difficulty contacting me when it was time to send a bill. I will be getting a second opinion and will not return. The lack of professionalism, communication, compassion, and basic courtesy was astounding.

When I moved and worked in Alexandria, VA for about 2 years, I went to another dentist that my coworker referred me to (for convenience). Well the quality was great but the Dr's and staff's bedside manner was poor and they sent me to collections for a measly $60 past due balance on my account! The wife was the account manager and she was so rude! I was a young and single low-income parent. I didn't want them to collect another penny from me so I fired them. I got a new job in Rosslyn, VA and decided to try a dentist in Rosslyn (for convenience again..) and their always seemed to be a new dentist every time I went and that didn't give me a warm fuzzy. My teeth still felt gritty after cleanings. Furthermore, I had a root canal there and I was still having pain after the procedure. I decided to go back to Dr. Argentieri and haven't looked back since. Due to not flossing my teeth over the years, I have acquired poor oral hygiene and it has cost me a lot of money, but Dr. Argentieri and his staff has worked with me because they care more about my teeth than money. On the one hand I always had a good experience with the hygienists and there have been few issues with insurance. I used to see Dr. Bunin who I thought was great but he left to go to another firm. Initially, I did find Dr. Argentieri to be somewhat abrasive, however, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, and I have always gotten along with him just fine. Both my husband and I have had extensive work done there and would get my teeth cleaned twice a year. They always took the time to take my blood pressure and it always felt like they cared about their patients. Until recently. I had an appointment for a regular cleaning but I had to cancel it because I had to work at the last minute. I am a real estate agent and I was called to show a house about an hour away the same morning of my appointment. I was not going to be able to get back in time for my appointment. It was an impossible situation because my client works at night so she was not going to be able to view the home in the evening and she couldn't schedule it for another day. I tried. Karen, whom I had never met before, was rude to me over the phone. She told me that since it was inside 24 hours (it was about 20 hours), I would be charged a missed appointment fee. In six years I was NEVER charged a missed appointment fee. NEVER. I'm sure it must have happened at least once due to the nature of my job, but I had never been charged for it. I was stunned. She would not talk to me, she just kept repeating the same thing over and over again. I live about 5 minutes away so I drove over there to speak to her directly. I could not believe I was being treated that way after being a patient for so long. She showed ZERO understanding about my job and could not answer why, after six years I was suddenly being charged this fee. I wasn't even aware that there WAS a missed appointment fee because I had never been charged one before. I tried to be reasonable with her. TBH, I just wanted her to tell me that they would not charge me this time, since there was no warning, but with the understanding that going forward, I would be charged, but no. She just kept repeating that it was policy and insisted that I would be charged for it. She had no regard for how long I'd been a customer nor how much $ we'd spent there over the years. It was really disgusting the way she treated me. THEN, to make matters worse, she told me that she was cancelling all my future cleaning appointments and that the only way they would see me again is if I came in as a walk in. (This woman does not know the meaning of negotiation nor goodwill.) This happened several months ago but I was prompted to write this review because my husband (we are separated) recently had work done there and the bills still come to the house. I noticed that the $110 charge is still on the bill, so it reminded me of what happened and that there has obviously been no resolution. I was very comfortable and happy going there for over six years, happy with Drs. A and C and the two hygienists that I have seen over the years. But Karen ruined everything for me.
