I love Dr. Miranda and his whole team, including the two dental hygienists, all of the front staff are just just great people to work with. In the four years I have been seeing Dr. Miranda and his team, I have had my teeth cleaned regularly, had an emergency root canal replaced (original done poorly by another dentist), and very old fillings replaced. Dr. Miranda and his team have always made me feel welcomed, listened to my concerns and overall treat me so well that even though I now live 45 minutes away, I still come to see them. I highly recommend this dental practice for anyone still taking COVID precautions. I was so grateful they were respectful of my concerns. Dentists and assistants wear N95s and front desk staff wears surgical masks. There are air purifiers in each room. I hope they continue with these measures because COVID is not over! read more

Recently moved to the area after changing professions. Unfortunately I ignored my dental health for the past decade, and am trying recover. I have a lot of work to do and Dr Maravi has been fantastic in forming a plan, prioritizing care, and doing all of it with someone who has dental anxiety and a low pain tolerance. I've struggled to get numb with other dentists but I've had no problem here. In my most recent visit I didn't feel anything not even the needle. FM Dental Group is a great place for your dental needs. It's super modern and my cleanings are quick and painless. You don't even need to stand for x-rays--they do it right from your chair! The hygienists and administrative staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Miranda is quick and thorough, and also very friendly. Dr. Maravi is one of the best dentist. He explains everything in detail, gives you alternatives if there is an issue, and even refers you to studies on specific cases like yours to help with understanding. He wasn't pushy or salesy, just stated the facts. He explained in detail how my teeth grinding was affecting my entire body (and a neck injury) and offered other alternatives beyond dental like yoga, Botox ( for my jaw muscle), posture, and other ways to reduce stress. As this condition is now seen more often it can be overlooked and should be taken seriously because it can greatly affect your overall health if not treated correctly, and/or can lead to having to get replacements for teeth. He also cleans your teeth himself which I prefer because he does a more thorough job. Five stars!!! I would highly recommend Dr. Maravi for dental services. read more

I live in New York , but come to Arlington to get my dentistry needs met by FM Dentristry. I met Fernando, principal and senior dentist, while he was practicing in NYC, at NYU dental clinics. I was very happy to have him as my primary dentist while he lived there. We actually became friendly and remained in correspondence when he moved to Berlin, and now to the Washington area. I love Fernando's professionalism VERY MUCH, AND HERE IS WHY. -I was able to make a Saturday appointment to fit my weird freelance work schedule. -I explained what was going on with my teeth, grinding, and Fernando took the time to explain exactly what happens when grinding occurs, with diagrams and ex-rays of my teeth. Added bonus, he taught me how to read an ex ray. -he told me exactly what steps to follow to minimize grinding, and to bolster my enamel. -he even found a pharmacy that had the prescribed toothpaste in stock. My pharmacy would of had to order it. ;( -he uses state of the art technology and equipment. AND THE NUMBER ONE REASON -during my teeth cleaning, my gums did not bleed once. That has not ever happened to me during a routine cleaning. Shock. Fernando is obviously committed to his patients, and strives to make their lives better with better dental health care. Would recommend Dr. Maravi to all of our friends and family due to his attention to detail, conservative approach, and his terrific customer service. Attention to detail. He takes his time and is very methodical, unlike other dentists we've experienced in the area. It's also great how he does most of the work himself to include the cleaning. Conservative approach. My wife and I really like how he's not eager to diagnose cavities as he genuinely appears to focus on his patients' long term well-being versus his short term pocket book. Customer service. I often work late so he meets me for evening appointments since this is most flexible. It's apparent that from arrival to departure, his patients are his #1 priority as he's 100% attentive and focused on their well-being and comfort level, often asking pointed questions to assess. I walked in to FM Dental Group earlier this evening (after visiting another office next door that I was not impressed with earlier in the afternoon) and I was immediately seen for my broken filling. I explained the issue I had with the other office and how the dentist wasn't friendly and told me I needed a root canal and that it would take 4 appointments to complete. Dr. Fernando Maravi told me that I probably DON'T need a root canal (and that it shouldn't take four appts to complete anyway)! :) I feel so relieved! He also explained everything to me about my X-rays and that I had another broken filling on a back molar -- I didn't even know! I LOVED my first experience here and I will definitely make Dr. Maravi my new regular dentist. Also, he's located in my building so that's extra convenient and he offers 24/7 service! He put me at ease, helped me understand exactly what was going on in my mouth, and now I'm not so scared. I definitely recommend this practice! read more

I never thought going to the dentist could be so EASY. Dr. Maravi is great. I've been here twice for two cleanings and once for a filling. Usually, doctors and dentists are very "pushy" but I never once felt pressured into doing anything that I wasn't comfortable with. The office is located in the same building above the XSport fitness center. You go up the elevator one floor, and walk to the way end of the hallway to their office. Trick for parking, I go to the Giant grocery store one block away and use their Free 1-hr parking! The office is decent sized and is no-frills, and from what I can tell, they use top of the line equipment. You can barely feel the instrumentation while having a cleaning done. The front-desk staff is also very friendly, professional, and welcoming. They will call you a day or so before an appointment to confirm that you are coming. The office uses an online service called ZocDoc which is very simple and provides you with e-mail and text message reminders for upcoming appointments. Pretty cool! I am moving into DC soon, but I will certainly be a returning patient here. read more

I'm returning to write an update with more positive feedback for Dr. Maravi and his team. I have been so impressed by their willingness to help. I recently relocated out of the area to a place where good dental care is not as readily available and, as Murphy's Law would have it, cracked a molar and sheered off part of the tooth. Dr. Maravi has personally provided feedback and guidance around my receiving treatment. I so appreciate him going above and beyond to help me. So clean here and I love that all the equipment gets tucked away neatly. The staff is very friendly and you can tell they truly enjoy their work!!! Dr. Muravi really worked with me financially as my insurance was about to run out as well. He explained in detail what my X-rays showed & made sure I understood. He recommended a night guard for me (I grind my teeth) and an enamel prescription toothpaste that I could conveniently pick up at cvs down the block. Went back for cleaning and got an xray done somewhere else, turns out he missed a lot. Even with his microscopic binoculars headgear. I will say he did help out financially when I needed it most. Dr. Moravi ( I misspelled his name in my first review) actually cleans your teeth instead of the assistant and they always give me a goodie bag with floss and a new toothbrush when I leave. Grateful to call this place my local dentist! Dr. Miranda is professional and very thorough, answering questions and walking through every procedure and treatment as needed. I've had several procedures done here: including fillings, cleanings, and most recently a dental implant. The front office staff is also excellent about calling to follow up on questions about insurance and any other needs. I also really appreciate the call the day before my appointment to confirm. These is a failure at this office to understand proper patient treatment. Additionally, I felt a sense of being "rushed" during my initial visit and not having everything thoroughly explained which made me uncomfortable. As an employee in the healthcare field myself, I think it is important for providers to be genuine and understanding in their treatment of patients. I should have listened to my initial instincts telling me not to proceed with this office, but I trusted my fellow Yelpers who either had genuinely great experiences or got free teeth whitening for their raving reviews. I, myself, was let down. Allow me to explain a little further: During my initial visit at this office, I left work early and drove through rush hour traffic for an hour only to make it to my appointment on time but waiting for the dentist who was tied up with another patient. I was patient, filled out some paperwork that they needed, and waited as they didn't pull up the X-rays I had my prior dental office faxed over. There were some red flags, like how rude Dr Maravi was in speaking with the assistants, I don't like seeing that because compassion is essential to a good health care provider. I thought, maybe he had a long day and excused it. Then there was errors in my paperwork that went overlooked and he wrote me a prescription with misinformation. I thought, okay, maybe everyone is having a long day. My mindset was, after having recently moved to DC from across the country, I decided that my search for a dentist was taking too long and I should proceed with someone and take advantage of my Employers Dental Plan. I even changed my dental insurance plan to a PPO plan in order to proceed with this office (since I would not be restricted and this particular office accepts very few plans). I scheduled my appointment on a Saturday morning,I woke up early to make, as I was ready to head out an hour before my appointment my car would not start to save its life! Just my luck! My car is accustomed to California weather and may have been a little overwhelmed to find itself in chilly DC. I immediately called the office to advise them of my car trouble, no one was available from 7:00am up to 8am (my scheduled appointment time). I called at least 6 times. I found it odd that no one was there before my scheduled time to set up. After AAA arrived around 8:25 am I get a call from the office, I explained my situation, let them know I made multiple attempts to contact them, and apologized for the inconvenience, but I made arrangements to borrow a friends car and I would be there as soon as possible. I could hear Dr. Maravi yelling in the background as I was speaking to the assistant. She did a great job of being calm under the pressure, I am sure it was uncomfortable for her to sympathize with my situation while simultaneously not trying to infuriate her already irate employer. Then she proceeded to tell me that I should not bother coming, I missed my appointment. I told her, I understand I missed my appointment but I called well in advance and sometimes life happens, there is really little control I had in this situation. She stated, as I could hear Dr. Maravi loudly articulate, that I have to pay $50 before I could reschedule an appointment. I explained that I already am costing myself more money by paying for a PPO insurance just so I could SEE Dr. Maravi, there is no way I am going to pay for something that was out of my control purely on principle he should make a reasonable exception. Had I called and cancelled the appointment without notice, I understand why the fee is necessary,but just to milk money when you can does not make a patient feel very appreciated and valued. She told me she understood and that she would call me later after speaking to him. Never got a call. Finally had to call them and let them know I was no longer interested in continuing with Dr. Maravi. A few key things: First, as a courtesy to a patient that missed their first appointment time, you should waive a fee, it isn't worth the benefits of establishing a long term relationship with an otherwise committed, insured patient. Second, have the professionalism not to be heard yelling when a patient is calling. I understand it is frustrating when patients cannot make an appointment, but this was an incident that was out of my personal control. I did not throw a tantrum when you had me wait for my initial consultation because you were tied up with a patient. Third, be reasonable and accommodating. Overall, I did take this as an act of God, I was not meant to continue with Dr. Maravi, and I am glad something intervened and did not allow me from being his patient. Now that I have a PPO, I can freely find a truly excellent Dentist to continue with. Hopefully you found this helpful and chose elsewhere as well. read more

I hate dentists and pretty much all medical interactions. After reading the reviews on here I decided since I had to go to the dentist to try this office. There are not enough good things I can say - from the front desk to the assistant to Dr. Miranda, all were really great. Their office environment, demeanor and just the entire experience was the best I've ever had any time where I had to get any sort of 'procedure' (in this case, a routine cleaning and filling). Who knew going to the dentist could be so awesome? I met Dr Maravi informally a couple months ago and was pleasantly surprised that his office was so easily accessible. I went in for a routine cleaning two weeks ago and had a great experience: front desk staff was friendly and efficient, office was clean, relaxing and modern, his equipment was all extremely new and top of the line. Dr Maravi performed a standard x-ray and I was given the usual lead chest shield -- and also a smaller one to protect my thyroid. (Especially big props for doing something that no dentist I've ever visited has done.) After the x-rays were done, he went through the condition of each tooth with me in great detail -- letting me know which ones were in good shape, which ones I should pay attention to, and he pointed out the solitary tooth that needed a filling replaced. After the rest of the cleaning concluded, we made an appointment to have the filling replaced, which I just completed this afternoon. The second visit mimicked the first: different front desk staff member but equally friendly and helpful, close personal attention from Dr Maravi and gentle kidding about my low pain tolerance -- but ultimately a thorough shot of anesthetic that kept me solidly numb and pain-free throughout the entire experience. Dr Maravi took his time making several minor adjustments after the main work was done to ensure that I was satisfied, which I really appreciated. Dr Maravi even took a look at an old retainer that I had and told me it was sufficient to prevent my teeth grinding: no new expensive retainer needed! I'm not sure if going to the dentist will ever be "fun," but Dr Maravi made my experience pretty damn excellent in every way. Professional, precise, and considerate. Strongly recommended. read more

Dr. Maravi is the coolest dentist I've been too. I went in for a Wisdom tooth that had been bothering me I had my consultation on Friday he was very informative told me what to except etc etc (the staff are also very friendly). So i went in for the actual surgery on Thursday of the following week. Was attended within minutes of walking in and was numb 5 min later. He immediately got to work. I couldn't feel anything just a bunch of pressure. He isint the most gentle but he gets the work done. Im definitely getting my other wisdoms taken out with him. read more

I just had my first appointment with Dr. Maravi yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised. I HATE going to the dentist (and I'd been avoiding it for far too long), but he instantly made me feel comfortable and didn't make me feel bad for letting so much time go by between visits. I had a filling by another dentist that was repaired once, but never seemed right. I decided i needed a second opinion. My brother told me about Dr. Muravi, so I went to see him. He confirmed that the filling was not done correctly and he fixed it. I'm relieved as I thought the tooth might need to be removed. I've been to your office for almost two years. But I've been getting bills recently. I got a bill for a teeth cleaning for December last year, which I wasn't aware of. My insurance is suppose to cover two teeth cleanings every year. When I went back to your office last month, I was advised not to worry about the bill because I wasn't aware of that I was going to be billed. However, I just got a bill for a even bigger bill a couple days ago. I've been going to your office for a long time. I was planning on going there going forward. However, the bill made me scared. I am not sure you are the right place anymore. And I am not sure it is the right decision to recommend my friends to go to your office anymore. No one likes surprise like that. read more

I am extremely cautious & meticulous when it comes to picking a Dentist. I pay attention to everything from the receptionist's demeanor, cleanliness of the office and the thoroughness of patient care by the Doctor. I have to say after two separate appointments I can honestly say I am impressed and completely satisfied with Dr. Maravi. The office is clean and looks great, the equipment is new and updated, the receptionists are awesome and knowledgeable and most importantly the Doctore is honest and thorough. I am generally not a fan of needles or sharp objects but Dr. Maravi is calming and talks you through his procedures. I felt at ease as he was honest and to the point and I didnt get that typical dentist "upsale" I have gotten so turned off by in the past. I feel Dr. Maravi has a vested interest in seeing me have a healthy smile. I have recommended 3 other close friends to Dr. Maravi and the quality of their visits was just as good as mine. I love Dr Maravi. I've never had anyone explain my x-rays in such detail and clean my teeth with the tools he used. He also wears headgear that helps him zoom in to a mouth and see fine detail up close. Definitely the most gentle dentist I've ever been, too.
