Terrific lineup of power mowers and equipment + reasonable prices + great service program. Found this business 3 years ago when shopping for a new riding mower. Tempted to get one at the big box stores (Home Depot, Lowes) since they carry big name brands and price deals, but also wanted to find a place that could easily and economically keep it running great, plus repair promptly if ever needed. Grass never waits for a mower issue. After decades of DIY mower service, I've "done my time" on reading big maintenance manuals, removing mower decks, hunting down scarce parts, cleaning/sharpening blades ... Couldn't be more pleased! Purchased a 38" Husqvarna riding mower. Powerful, easy to use, cuts fast and perfectly. They delivered it promptly, showed me all the basics, best yard machine I've ever owned (that includes a prior John Deere tractor). I also have them pick up/return the mower each winter; they do all the work to keep it looking/running like new when I pull it out in the spring. Jim is always friendly and flexible in working the pickup/delivery around my schedule. Strongly advise checking them out even if you're leaning toward the big store mowers. And especially if you're looking for great service to go along with it. My Husqvarna tractor has proven to be a great investment. I just had 2 new 13x5x6 tires that I paid 18 dollars for , to be mounted on their rims since I'm 78 years old and not able bodied I decided I would have Fairfield Power Equiptment mount them for me . I dropped them off at their location and was told they would call me when done ( they didn't ) after 2 days I stopped in their store and the tires were mounted but the big surprise was the over $42.00 I was charged for this service I wasn't given an estimate at the outset which is in violation of the Ohio Revised Code which requires a estimate for any charge over $25.00 . I feel iwas was taken advantage of being an elderly person , I would carefully look at doing business with this company if you are an elderly person as you could be taken advantage of . These Guys managed to do $400+ damage. It's been some years since I've used this place and theres good reason. Normally I DIY. I was working a weird shift and my Grandpa decided to have the mower serviced so I wouldn't have to fool with it. Awhile back we sent a John Deere LX 2?? in for pre season service and a new seat. When mowing season finally rolled around I stop by and see the condition they left GPs mower in, the seat that needed 2 cushions was now entirely off it's plastic backed frame. Likely from either using a ratchet strap to secure to trailer for transport, or having zero clue in how to replace a seat cushion. I looked underneath to check out the blade sharpness, whoever put the blades on managed to strip out the bolt head. "Screw the next Guy" For whatever reason, they adjusted the throttle, now instead of being able to have middle power I've got all the way up and all the way down. Had I been home when they dropped it off it never would have made it off the trailer. To say I don't recommend this place is an understatement. I actually cringe when I see him drive-by in the Company Tacoma and non-matching trailer, knowing some poor sap's equipment is about to be destroyed. Theres too many places around that actually do quality work, to give this place any business what so ever. Al Joes, is on the West side. And Tri State power is right up 127. I had used Fairfield Power equipment for years. I requested to have a Snapper riding mower that I have to cut my elderly mother's grass be switched to a mulching mower. I was given an estimated price. After the mower was dropped off for service and the new blade to be installed I received a call from the owner's son. He stated the cost of the switch to a mulching mower was almost double what I had been quoted. He stated that a "USED" mulching kit was installed to save money. I was not happy that a used mulching kit was installed on my lawnmower without my consent or notification. The mower cut terrible. It left uncut grass consistently. I was driving over the same area multiple times to attempt to cut the grass. After several weeks and being very dissatisfied I called the owner of Fairfield Power Equipment. He immediately said that I must be driving too fast. I told him that I only cut grass in 1st or 2nd gear. He then asked me to remove the cover and check for clumped grass. I did so and found none. I called again after another dissatisfied lawn cutting. The owner told me that I must be cutting the grass while it was wet. I persisted that the mower was not cutting properly. I told him that even my neighbor made a comment to me about how bad the lawn looked. He finally agreed to check the mower. He called me and I drove to his shop. He said the mower checked out fine. I showed him a photo on my phone of the lawn with streaks of uncut/uneven grass. He responded that "All I see is tire tracks, but you see what you want". He then began to speak to me like I was stupid and talk down to me. He made comments like "People have this illusion that a mulching mower is come kind of magical thing". He then went into a lengthy and degrading explanation of how a mulching mower works. I have used a mulching mower at my house for over 20 years. He then went into a lengthy speech about how the Snapper mower was not designed to just blow grass out the shoot, but that it was designed to have the clippings caught in a bagging unit. Funny, when I bought the Snapper NEW from his business he never mentioned any of this bad stuff about a Snapper mower. He convinced me to switch back to the standard blade. I agreed. I needed a new blower, so I checked the price of a Stihl blower. The tag displayed $139.00. I bought a blower, a new standard blade and fuel mixer. When I left the business I realized I had been charged $160.00 for the blower. I was told by an employee that $160.00 was the price of the blower. No price adjustment. Bottom line is the owner took no responsibility for installing a used mulching kit on my mower without my knowledge or consent. I firmly believe that the previous owner had issues with the kit and returned it Fairfield Power Equipment. The owner made every excuse in the world for the mower not cutting grass properly and failed to take ANY responsibility for the mower not cutting properly. His last statement was "I didn't design the stupid thing". I was quite surprised by his reactions and it was a very frustrating experience. read more
