My mom and I came in from LA. The rooms have very little light which is sad but the big thing is the WiFi shuts off after a certain time. I called but the of course the phone doesn't work. This place needs an update. Feeels like 2007 in here. Room service also half cleaned the rooms? That's crazy to make 1 bed but not the other. First off, the staff. When I checked in I met Colette (who goes by Coke). She tried to get me checked in but the system was having issues. She tried to work through it and stayed very positive and patient. While she was working it out, Meyah showed up for her shift. She tried to help out as well and was also incredibly friendly and positive. I travel a lot for work and in my entire life I don't think I've encountered a more friendly staff. Props to them for being such a positive face for Fairfield at Chesapeake. Next, the rooms. I guess this hotel has been here for a while but you really can't tell. They did a complete remodel and it looks very nice. I had a single king room and it looks very modern. The TV that hung on the wall was huge (which I appreciate). There was plenty of desk space for my laptop and such. The bathroom was roomy and I dig a shower-only room. My only complaint might be the breakfast. It was a bit sparse. Scrambled eggs and a waffle iron, but no extras (turkey sausage patties one day) and the rest was bagels and cereal. Continental would best describe it. Lastly, the location. You have quick access to the highway, there are many retail and grocery stores nearby to get supplies, and restaurants galore. There's also a mall across the main road. It's a really good location. Nice, modern looking hotel but the hidden safety issues in the room take away most of the positives Besides the electric socket not flush with the night stand top and the thick as concrete Oatmeal (someone needs a cookbook recipe to mix the proper amount of water to oats), the biggest issue was the minor injuries two of two people in the room sustained in a single evening stay. This hotel may be small but it's mighty! What they lack in size they make up for in service. The front desk staff was very welcoming and accommodating. We were greeted with a warm welcome every time we came into the hotel. Our room was clean, but the beds were small. We booked a double room and it felt like a large twin bed. The AC unit and our room was really loud and it felt like the unit was working overtime to push out air. The ceilings in the hallway and our room were very low. My husband is 6'3 and was close to the top of the ceiling. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast and has a small pool. read more

We took the recommendation of another guest's review about the comfortable beds. Here we are AND...They were RIGHT. From the get go (front desk)...we met Meyah :) She had a smile on her face, was welcoming and professional. In fact...ALL the staff that we'd been in contact with were AWESOME. :) The rooms were clean, with comfortable beds, (almost as comfy at home) and the breakfast was quite the spread to put on daily. The folks in the kitchen are doing a great job and deserve kudos too! ;) The Chesapeake & Virginia Beach areas are beautiful to explore and today on our return (to the hotel) my wife was greeted by Colette (Coke) who had hot cookies for us. Lol...I joked about having some milk and she actually went and got me one from the kitchen. I think this would be one of the better hotels that I've stayed at during my work trips. The rooms are clean and front desk is helpful and courteous. The water pressure, an import at feature that is traveling know, is good! The shower heads don't seem adjustable but at least the standard setting works for me. The reason I'd give this Fairfield above average rating is the food. This location has one of the better hotel breakfasts that I've seen in the chains. Interesting quiches and frittatas, gluten feee muffins, and as always, the waffle maker. Lo-cal yogurts my go-to. read more

Overall, I had no complaints about this hotel. My only side eye was the entrance. It's a narrow path you enter and within a few steps you are at the front desk. The front desk attendant was cool and straight to the point. Our room was on the highest floor which I believe this hotel only have three or four floors. The room was OK... nothing spectacular, but on the verge of dated. I remember the sofa in the room was not comfy and not too appealing either. Nevertheless, it served its purpose. The bed was OK as well. I remember having a good nights sleep with no complaints about the bedding. The bathroom shower/tub combo can use some TLC. However, the shower pressure was great... my favorite aspect of the room. There is no ice machine, therefore, you can either wait for the ice maker or request ice from the front desk. Parking not an issue... no issues at all. The workout area is small but beneficial. Stay at your on risk. Other hotels are nearby within walking distance. Shopping about 5 miles away and you are minutes from I-64. Have fun and enjoy life :) read more

Both the common area and rooms have a modern appearance. Pretty standard room amenities, coffee maker, microwave, mini-fridge, TV with plenty of channels. Multiple outlets available throughout the room for your electronics. Bathroom and tub/shower separate from sink, shower amenities include shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, soap, hair dryer. Towels are nice sized, on the ticker side and soft. Water temp and pressure both very good, shower head offers multiple settings. King bed was very comfortable with multiple pillows of both firm and soft. In-wall AC/heat unit worked very well and was quieter than normal. My first time ever staying here was in September upon arrival I was greeted by two beautiful ladies Tracie and Jalissa. I loved their energy. Throughout my stay I really felt at home , the staff genuinely loves on one another you can tell this is a close knit staff which made my stay even more better. The housekeepers were always smiling. Breakfast was great I enjoyed the bacon I wish they served bacon more throughout my stay. I was so sad to leave at checkout Jalissia and the tall lady with the cat glasses encouraged me to stay, had I not had to return to work I would have extended my stay. Anyways, I will be returning to this lovely hotel in November hopefully I can try some more of the food spots that I didn't get to try during my first stay. read more

It was a veryyy long trip from up north, Front Desk Agent Jalissia greeted my family and I upon check in with a fun loving spirit. She kept us smiling during our whole stay. I normally don't write reviews, however, this stay was impeccable. We asked Jalissia for food recommendations during check in and she gave us a list. Our favorite spots that she recommended nearby were Smokey Bones and Winston's Cafe. I would definitely stay again, rooms were clean, hotel wasn't too crowded. I've stayed at quite a few Marriots and I am picky about hotels. I look at pictures before booking but I was highly disappointed with this one. I booked for 2 nights. When we got the room, it was an adjoining, accessible room. When I booked, nothing on my confirmation said this was accessible. We also could hear everything the people next door were saying because of the adjoining room door. I asked for another room and had to settle for a double bed room with my significant other. It was still ugly and outdated. I decided to change my reservation from 2 nights to 1 and find another hotel. I had no problem changing my reservation. Fast forward to trying to shower. I thought it was rust around the drain so I was just going to take a shower and go. Turn the water on and realize it's dirt. The dirt spread from the drain around the tub. Unfortunately, the manager wasn't there and the front desk rep said she would leave a note so I'll definitely be contacting them tomorrow. You would think that during the Pandemic, hotel businesses would be taking thorough cleaning more seriously and not putting their guests at risk by leaving dirt behind. read more

My job placed me here for a few weeks and I must say I am not impressed. The catcalling construction workers at night with the poor lighting is a lil scary. Breakfast is horrendous, other than the fresh fruit and yogurt. Recently stayed at this establishment and had to share a most excellent experience. Perfect overall? No. (room for improvement). Great experience? For sure! In my opinion, service excellence can cover for MANY of an establishment's other shortcomings. Service excellence is where this place shines...in particular, the front desk. We did not have an opportunity to take advantage of the free breakfast, so i'll have to leave the review of that element to other yelpers. Rooms were clean and neat. Cleaned daily and met or exceeded my expectations for cleanliness and resetting of linens and towels. The air conditioner (as mentioned by others) was a bit noisy, however, did the job and kept the room cool and comfortable (I was 100% okay with the noise level to keep cool). The one and only item that i wondered about was why my in-room coffee service wasn't being restocked daily. I kept going to the front desk to get supplies for the next morning. Each interaction with the front desk was met with a smile and a true sense that they (front desk staff) were and would do all they could to accommodate my request(s). Location is GREAT! Central to many, many eateries, shopping, and entertainment venues. "Walkable" to a couple of rather well known chain restaurants, and a couple of "local" (or at least that was my impression) restaurants weren't too far either. Item of note (not related to the hotel) is that if you have to drive, some roads that were NOT tolled before, are now tolled (I think the downtown tunnel is the main one). Make sure to ask the hotel personnel about this for verification...but I do believe this to be the case. So...why four stars? Front desk STELLAR service. Each of the front desk reps that I had the opportunity to interact with met me with a smile, and a sense that they genuinely cared about my experience. Living myself in an economy that is driven by the hospitality trade, I feel I'm well qualified to comment on this aspect, and they (in my experience) knocked this out of the park. This area is LOADED with hotels. It makes it difficult to decide where to stay sometimes. I figured I'd save my company a few dollars and pick this place instead of the courtyard next door. The place does have a few drawbacks. (The shower and sink drain a bit slowly, The vending machine on our floor didn't have a functioning bill-accepter, the refrigerator was a bit loud so that I wound up unplugging it)....However, it's petty stuff that you tend to find at most hotels. The room is very welcoming, clean, and comfortable. There's a flat panel tv with a very large channel selection. There's a refrigerator if you don't mind the noise, and a microwave. The bed is comfortable and the room is functional, but outdated and no frills. Traveling for business and I'd pick a different hotel next time in the area. There is no restaurant or bar to hang out in, and the rooms are basic. The TV is a bit smaller than what you generally see in hotel rooms these days. Ok so my first Hotel review. Just for the record not my first hotel stay. However, this one needed it. It's a nice clean place. Friendly staff and comfortable rooms. It's close to many things and there are lots of places to eat close by. So great location. Now to the reason for 2 stars but could have been 4. . Breakfast the most important meal of the day right. Well not necessarily here. Can you say boring. I have eaten many other similar type breakfast but this one was bad. There was the fact all of the tables were dirty and needed cleaning. Then the food. Low stock, poor quality, and lacking in choices. I mean as in sliced muffins individual wrapped. And to top it off no one attending the room. One last thing is picture a commercial coffee machine filter in a bowl. That was the trash container for guests to put the empty sweetener packets, creamer and used stir sticks. Very sad and unprofessional. So stay for the hotel and hit the Cracker Barrel right down the street for a real Breakfast. read more

**ITEM STOLEN FROM ROOM** My family & I checked in on Saturday June 30th & checked out on Friday July 6th. On Saturday night I plugged in my new Samsung Galaxy S9 into the plug on the lamp of the nightstand and my husbands on the lamp of the desk. We woke up the next day, got ready, grabbed our phones, I grabbed my charger (off the nightstand) & left for the day. When we returned Sunday evening, our beds were made, bathroom was clean, clean towels hanging, trash taken out, and CHARGER LEFT ON THE DESK LAMP PLUG WAS GONE! We searched the whole room, moved the dresser, looked through all our bags (thinking maybe I lost my mind and we brought both for some reason) but it was no where to be found. The next morning I walked down to the front desk to ask about it thinking maybe housekeeping used the plug to vacuum and then our charger got mixed in with dirty linen, but all they had said was no one had turned one in. They didn't even attempt to look for it. They did mention it was one of the harder ones to find for phones being that it didn't have the grooves on it, which I thought as a bit odd. I was upset because it was a brand new charger and felt like no one cared that something came up missing from my room. When our housekeeper came that day, before I even said anything she apologized for the charger being missing, but when asked didn't say weather she saw it or not (again kind of odd). The rest of our trip we made sure to be there when housekeeping came or just refused services. Also the entire week we were there no one else said a word about it, when I asked about it at check out all I was told was if it came up they'd call me. When we got home we unpacked all our stuff, went through everything we took with us on our trip, checked the whole car (under the seats and all) but charger is no where to be found. I understand its "just a charger" but its still the fact that someone stole something from our room. I used to work housekeeping and couldn't imagine taking anything that doesn't belong to me out of a guest's room. This review would of been way better hadn't this happened, the rooms were nice, beds were comfortable, location was close to a lot of stuff and the breakfast in the morning was nice to have. The girl works the desk at night (Beatrice I believe was her name) was also very nice and helpful when we needed extra towels or utensils. I plan on going higher up the chain of command because I'd like to know what happened to my property. read more

This has got to be one of the nicest hotels I have been to in the area in a long time. With the price being so much lower than surrounding opportunities, and the rating being not quite four stars, I was concerned when I made my reservations for a holiday weekend. A pleasant surprise! VERY clean! Very neat! And a superb staff... from reservation, to breakfast, to departure .. our three nights went off without a hitch! The hotel was booked up all three nights -- a children's chorus from SWVa, a farm team of baseball players, youth wrestling teams, pony leagues and family outtings. Breakfast was seamless... three staff members kept things going from the kitchen to the buffet, wiping up messes, cleaning tables between patrons, and making sure the food was well supplied. It could have been cacophony, but instead it was poetry in motion with kind words, easy conversation. eye contact (!) and an oft ask -- "is everything okay, can I get you anything?" KUDOS! In my opinion, the hotel is pretty awesome. It's convenient, cozy, and pretty good for the price. The attendant is extremely helpful, welcoming and friendly. The room I stayed in is clean, and the beds are so comfy! I would definitely come back here. Possible downside for some people would be may be the air conditioning. It can be somewhat loud when it's fans are running. However, it does create a very cool room. Lastly, breakfast is free! read more

This is not the hotel to do a group event. They do not honor signed group rooms/rates agreement. In my case, my church had a signed group rooms/rate agreement giving us the ability to book until midnight of stated cutoff date cited in the agreement..The hotel cancelled the agreement at 7am on the cutoff date. First they blamed the computer. Then they blamed the group because we did not book fast enough for them. Do not use this hotel for group booking. We did stay in this hotel for 2 night and 3 days during labor day. I love this hotel, our room is nice and clean, the location is very near to shopping center and restaurant. The breakfast is very nice, love that they have warm breakfast every day and its included when you stay there which is a plus for us. I mean I really don't want to spend a lot outside just to eat breakfast. For a family of 4 it would easily cost us just for breakfast. ALLERGY ALERT!!!! If you have allergies, do not stay in this hotel. We had 2 rooms, we alerted the staff initially when we walked into first room 329 and was hit with stench. Even the person who came to clean could smell it and commented on it. They lysoled and febreezed while we went to dinner but said they couldn't do anything because we already checked in like move rooms or send to another hotel. We returned after late dinner and was in bed by 9pm. After we decided stench was still there and I could still feel allergies, we moved the rollaway bed and our kid to room 330. The other parent in room 330 called about 9:30, she was breaking into hives, red nose, throat but she decided to pop benydryls and go to sleep. The kids had taken their allergy meds and fell asleep. The heater was not working in that room either and it remained cold. I started feeling allergies coming in even with meds about 10pm and it gradually got worse that I could feel an asthma attack coming on about 1am so I told my husband I needed to get out of the room and would sleep in car if they couldn't do anything. I went downstairs and spoke with front desk lady and she could see I was suffering. She actually picked the phone up and called other hotels to see if an opening was available but by that time, All was booked. (We were here for figure skating exhibition) Thus I ended up sleeping in the car. My husband brought me blanket and pillow and asked if I needed to go to ER. He has no allergies so I told him to sleep in the room - someone needed to sleep well at least. I was already feeling better. I had used my inhaler and symptoms were going away like the throat, eyes, breathing and itchiness. I went back up near 6 and took a shower as we had to leave by 7:30. My frozen kid came baby to our room at 6 and honestly no one got good sleep. The noise of people slamming doors and being up is not an issue with us. Allergies are damaging and severe to our health. I honestly thought I was going to end up at ER with attach. It's not front desks fault that the hotel is old and has not been renovated as they tried to do their best particularly the night lady. But when I have to sleep in my car when I bought a hotel room - something is dead wrong and if I had suffered the attack, it could have been perilous to my health. The initial ladies at front did not "hear" me and we tried to make it work. The 20 dollar discount they gave? It's not about the money, it was about listening the first time. Thankful cleaning crew turned over my personal property to the front office. However, retrieving my personal property was a true nightmare complete with police involvement! Imagine being stranded on a business trip in a city with no relatives, no money and no identification trying to persuade staff to release your property. My husband and I took a little 4 day vacation and reserved a room at this hotel, the room was not bad but the hotel staff were very disgruntle, there was no discrepency on the behalf of the housekeeping staff. They complained about their jobs in the hallways and while walking around on the hotel grounds in plain view of the guest. If you are looking for an indoor pool this is not the place to stay, the pool was outside and very small and filled with leaves and we wanted to get in but my husband had to clean the leaves out before we could use it and when the maintenance and housekeeping staff seen us by the pool cleaning the leaves out they stood there and watched my husband, without ever asking what they could to do help...... read more

This hotel is really fabulous for a Fairfield. The staff is very friendly, They are constantly cleaning. It is really the cleanest of any similar class marriot we have stayed in. They were cleaning the laundry rooms when I used them and constantly keep the breakfast area cleaned. The room was also very clean and updated. We were fortunate enough to get upgraded to a suite which was fabulous. My only reason for a 4 star instead of a 5 star is because of highway noise so just ask for a room that doesn't face it. read more

This was the worst experience I had at a hotel ever. First , the sheets had blood and dirt on them. I notified the front desk who instead of moving my room she gave me more sheets. She asked me to email her the picture I took of the sheets and still failed to pass it on to the morning supervisor. The morning supervisor (Sharon) had no idea what I was talking about so she called the housekeeping supervisor and had me show her the picture which was very awkward and unprofessional. I asked for a refund for that room but she opted for a discount instead since she hadn't been notified of the incident by the previous clerk. Now the next morning I'm itching and have bug bites all over my feet. So now I know this hotel has bed bugs as well. This was a very bad experience and I hope you will improve your customer service in the near future. read more

I have spent over 50 nights this year (2015) in this specific hotel. The staff is always friendly, the rooms are always neat and clean, breakfast is clean and nice, and I never have an issue. I am extremely picky when it comes to hotels and this one is the best I have found at the lower winter rates and typical summer rates. I have seen more than 6 different front desk staff start with the hotel and each get the training necessary within a short period of time. Jamie is one of the best, as she goes through all my future reservations and adds my corporate rate and direct bill number. Makes my check in process so much easier and faster! This hotel represents the Marriott chain very well. Why only 4 stars then? There is always room for improvement. Sometimes they are out of coffee for breakfast (more is always brewing) not a lot of parking, and yes, the AC is loud, but always works.
