    The roach in the bathroom in room 425

    This place was not good. I stayed at this hotel for 14 days. I had to switch rooms because of a roach in the bathroom. The second room the shower curtain had mold and red stains on them. Also the rooms just didn't feel clean. I did notice mini blood stains on the sheets. The staff was very nice and the gym wasn't bad. But overall I wouldn't stay here ever again. Ever !!!!!!!!!!

    The hotel is convenient to the highway. It has friendly staff and Ms Cassandra at the front desk is the best!!!! She helped me with early check in because I had been traveling and was tired. My room was neat. The temperature was great and I got good rest.

    I had an awesome stay at this hotel last weekend! ! My only complaint...where is the hot tub???? I was so looking forward to a hot soak after my intense workout in the Fitness center. Nevertheless, everything else was great! ! The Fitness center is open 24 hours, while the pool is available from 6am to 10pm. Those are awesome hours there! ! You can swim before breakfast and before checkout. Breakfast is included in the stay and it includes hot and cold selections. There's something for everyone. And checkout is at noon. So for breakfast: waffles, muffins, cereal, oatmeal, pork sausage, scrabbled eggs, bread, bagels, donuts, juices, coffee and tea bags...all the fixings are present too. As a suggestion, turkey sausage or more fruit options. Nevertheless, all are sure to find at least one item to enjoy. The room was petite, but cute for the three of us. However, the beds were a bit too soft to my liking. We stayed in the 2 bed room with the sofa bed. Everything is all out in the open. Meaning, there is no door that separates the bedroom from the sitting room or the bathroom area. The only doors present are the front door and bathroom door. Therefore, if you entertain company be sure that you're presentable when you come out the bathroom. The toilet and shower bath combo are enclosed, while the one bowl sink is on the outside. There are two closets, a desk with a chair, as mentioned, a sofa bed with a mini tabls, a mini refrigerator, microwave, sink and a coffee pot. Pretty much all you need in a room...right. Oh yeah, there's a swivel flat screen also. While on the swivel, you can watch TV from the beds or the sofa area, but not both at the same time. The hotel is clean on the inside and outside. I constantly saw the clean up crew working. That's a good thing. The front desk staff was pleasant all weekend. Cassandra and Raeven made sure we were good at all times. As a bonus, we were able to watch the superbowl game in the hotel lobby while feasting on food provided by the hotel. Bites included: taco salad, nachos and cheese and salsa, hot dogs, chips, wings, and raw veggies. Lemonade was available while bottled beer was sold for $1.00. This was a nice gesture for all registered guests. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others. The hotel is amongst a street filled with other hotels. It's also in an area where shopping is walking distance away. Or a short five minutes if you're driving. This area is deemed as the greenbrier section of Chesapeake. A great area of the city. It's also minutes from interstate 64... Thanks again! Oh and I received an awesome rate too...it pays to save !! Have fun :)

    Unacceptable (animal feces found on floor) - but no response - room 502 - April 28.

    Good location, but my room (502) contained animal feces. Management has yet to respond after repeated attempts at contacting them (Chevella King) + posting a negative trip advisor review and after contacting Marriott. That is unacceptable. Numerous other reviews indicate the same. I am a frequent traveler and this may be the worst response (no response) I have ever received from a hotel.

    I've been to many SpringHill Suites, and this is by far my favorite! The room is very spacious, clean, and comfortable temperature wise. Staff is very helpful as well.

    Family of 5 staying here and then sold our room and got a smaller one. (Payed more for the bigger) and had to sleep on the floor

    Where do I begin? - My review is based on my recent Saturday Evening Stay - End of September 2025…read more Room was fairly priced and I was appropriately offered a Government Rate as I was traveling on such business. It was raining extremely heavily and they closed the side door of the Hotel; - So, by the time I reached the front of the Hotel - to begin waiting on the Check in Line - I was drenched. I felt terrible for the young man that was checking everyone in. Guests, were primarily misfits with poor credit. People on the line were demanding Extra Cots in their rooms and would proceed to share their life stories with the young clerk - mind you; I want to go on the record and tell you what a gentleman he was. Roaming crowds of Prepubescent Energetic Girls ran through the hallways and occupied the pool area. I was terrified to take a dip in the pool. I'm just going to go on record and tell you - overall my room was essential outdated and filthy. Nothing luxurious about this place. I had requested a Handicapped Room and these were all taken up and I took extra care not to slip and dislocate my neck - exiting the shower. Why L-rd? Limited selection of items, the following morning, at the Breakfast Buffet which was packed with an overzealous crowd of eclectics. This Hotel is the furthest thing from luxury - But, in the end - I'm grateful for the shelter and the kindness of the Clerk who was forced to deal with guests who had overspent their credit cards. What an experience? Oh beautiful for spacious skies, I won't be relocating to this section of American anytime soon.

Upon checking in the staff was very kind and welcoming. Walking into the room it is very dated some things seem missing and things like the counter were crooked, little to no water preasures at the sink, but it was fairly clean and nothing to really complain about. During the stay I used the pull bar which immediately snapped from the bottom and I fell with the bar in hand which completely came off from the wall. I probably should have notified the front desk, but it was late and didn't want to be bothered or moved. The staff came in later that day to replace towels, I figured they would have notified maintenance or something, but no one said anything and I'd be leaving shortly anyway. When I checked out I mentioned when I pulled myself up on the pull bar in the bathtub it came loose and would need to be repaired before booking the room again. The front desk didn't indicate anything and seemed friendly. Hours later I get a huge damage fee added to the bill. I called asked about, it and they just said there was damage to the room and because I didn't immediately report it, there is a fee, he indicated they knew about it and had taken photos, but again never said or did anything... I let him know the anchors at the top of the bar were certainly not adequate (didn't appear to be gripping anything except the shower pannel and drywall-see photo) and the screws at the bottom of the bar were completely rusted-see photo. He continued to gaslight me which really set me off. This is property liability and negligence. The condition of the tub and area is obviously not well maintained. The cheap coating they used to cover rust in the tub is flaking off so much that the tub was already clogged with white flakes prior to even trying to use it. Still its my fault, and when asked about safty inspections he says they do them constantly, well this is maintenance failure and I wasn't going to make anything of it untill getting this charge which they refused to do anything about untill maybe Monday. I did contact corporate and they basically said the same thing no one there could do anything untill maybe later. I offered to send photos and they didn't want them. Maybe they want a photo of my butt with a bruse on it? What if this happened to an elderly person who could have suffered serious injuries or someone who was looking for a pay out... they wouldn't have notified the front desk they would have called a lawyer for premises liability and obvious negligence in addition they showed zero care. Never asked if I was ok only issue charges for their own safty failures. Since this happened I feel confident there are probably many safty issues at this premises. Corporate or even the insurer of this location should send out their own safty inspection to minimize liability. The way they went about this is simply underhanded and wrong, they have no issue issuing the fees without a manager that is capable of doing anything, but "can't do anything about it until later" for everything else. I let them know I would issuing complaints and contacting the CC to dispute this charge in addition I will be contacting city code compliance. Instead of offering an apology and fixing the issue for the next guest they do the opposite, add insult to injury. I will attach photos and you decide, do you want to stay at a place that allows this, knows about it, but won't do anything other than charge you for it. Notice the bottom screws there is no fresh metal exposed so these were deffinitly completely rusted through.

However, I needed a much deserved "staycation" so I reserved mines through the IHG app-no regrets here at all. The front desk associate (didn't catch his name) was really nice and checked me in with no issues. The room was clean, spacious, and has everything you need for a good night stay. What I really like about this hotel that I don't like about Staybridge Suites is there are Keurig coffee makers inside their rooms-made me very happy! Holiday Inn Express has Dove soap products and those comfy beds I gotta have lol! Plus, the shower heads are so relaxing to be under if you have a tense body. There is another thing that I love about this property but might be an inconvenience for some people is they lock the front doors around 10pm. But honestly, that is a great safety protocol that I don't mind. Of course, there is a free hot breakfast in the morning! **I recommend downloading the IHG app and joining their rewards program (Holiday Inn Express & Staybridge Suites are part of their line) and booking through their site.
