Try not to get the floor wet when the shower curtain dips down
    David S.

I am disappointed. It's the worst Fairfield I've ever been to. First off, the Wi-Fi didn't work. I'm a business traveler. The sort of problem is very rare. The woman behind the desk said she knew no problems with it, had no advice, but suggested I go to a Starbucks. The room smelled musty. I'm allergic to dogs. I asked for a pet free room. The girl behind the counter said that the second floor is pet free. However, there was a dog in a room down the hall barking on and off for hours. I'm not feeling well and I believe there was a dog in my room recently. Allergy suffers beware! I was staying here because I had a morning meeting at the Best Western not too far away and I had to prepare, using Wi-Fi, that did not work in this hotel. Figured the Fairfield Inn was nicer, and I am biased because I am a Marriott gold. Probably wasn't. If I knew about all this, I would've tried the Best Western. That's my plan when I return to town.

This was probably one of the worse stays at any hotel I have ever had due to the room. I have nothing bad to say about the staff. However, if you just want a place to sleep and don't care about cleanliness then this place is fine. We had ants in the bathroom in the floor and on the walls. Smudge on the walls, paint peeling on ceilings. I honestly didn't want to walk around bare foot so I didn't. I should have checked the Yelp reviews prior to booking for one night. It seems to be a fairly normal complaint here. This wasn't the most premium costing hotel but it also wasn't the cheapest. I figured I stayed at a bunch of Marriotts and they have always been at a basic level clean. This place is actually pretty disgusting.

The king size room is carpeted with a marble bathroom floor, large shower (no tub), one multi usb port and high ceilings. It would've been nice to have a ceiling fan instead of the odd gold clunky light fixture. We decided to come here for a Monday night getaway which means the rates are probably less, but many businesses in the area are not open on a Monday or Tuesday. Getting a room here requires no face-to-face time, everything is done online where they'll text you a key code for your room door, no key card. Our short stay here was in a good size room with quiet cool AC and a comfy bed with 4 over stuffed pillows. I was disappointed in the fact the room had no mini fridge, just a Keurig (no microwave either). You'll need to bring an ice chest if you want cold drinks, etc.. They do have a hospitality room with a microwave, but our room code did not work to access it We got the Bakery Lorraine (see seperate review) breakfast package thinking it was in the immediate area not a half mile walk away. It was a good breakfast, but I recommend driving there since there's enough parking, otherwise skip this option. When it comes time to check out, you just send a text that you're leaving to the original text. It's as quick as that. Next time, we'll probably make it a Wednesday through Saturday stay when everything is open. You really can't beat the location, which the price of the room reflects. Check out the bill and photos below.

When we stayed, the elevator and internet were out, but the staff were there to help people carry things up to their rooms. We were on the 2nd floor and just took care of it ourselves. And the internet was back by the morning. It was easy to Doordash dinner and there was a nice large area where we could sit and eat. It was the breakfast area the next morning. There was a nice variety of choices and we both found stuff we enjoyed. The beds were comfortable and they were pet friendly. I was happy and satisfied with our stay.

We reserved a full (large) suite, with a king-sized bed in the bedroom and a sofabed in the living room. The suite was HUGE!! We had plenty of room for the three of us (plus two dogs). The best part was the Jack-and-Jill entrance to the bathroom, so that we could access the bath directly from either the bedroom or living room. There was a wet-bar sink area, a microwave, and a small fridge, so we were able to keep snacks and drinks cold and prepare food in the room if needed. The bed was comfortable and our room (at the end of the hall) was very quiet. We could not hear highway traffic at all. The staff is all FIVE-STAR quality!! Special thanks to Avery, Shea, Rose, and Kathleen, who all went over and above in reserving our room and accommodating our needs during our stay. Rose especially went the extra mile--because the elevator was out of service, she nabbed us a room on the second floor (rather than the third floor) near the stairwell, so that it would be easy for us to take the dogs outside without disturbing other guests. And Shea gave us some great recommendations for dining and other local shopping options in town. Avery was very kind in answering multiple questions early one morning, and Kathleen adeptly managed to split our hotel bill three ways so that we could each pay our portion. Many, many thanks to all of them! The free breakfast was always tasty, and included eggs and breakfast meats as well as pastries, breads, yogurt, cereals, fruit, and a waffle maker (and of course coffee and tea!). It was too cold to swim in the outdoor pool, but the water was clear and clean and the seating around the pool was comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located right on the I-10 frontage road, at John's Road, and is only 5 minutes from downtown (historic) Boerne. Shopping at the HEB grocery store is just one exit down the freeway. The only reason to give four stars rather than five has to do with some infrastructure issues. We knew ahead of time about the elevator being out of service (again, thanks to Rose for letting us know) but it was still somewhat inconvenient, especially when loading in and out with our luggage. The wi-fi often dropped out in our room and we had to log in more than once a day on some days. And for the first couple of days of our stay, our room keys would not work in the side door to the staircase (but did work in letting us into our room). We went through three re-keying processes before we were able to continue to use our keys. The sofabed was a little cranky and didn't always fold up well, and my brother said the mattress was a little lumpy (but those mattresses often are). Honestly, though, those were minor issues, and overall we had a MARVELOUS stay! I would gladly return to the Best Western on my next trip to the San Antonio area! Thank you all SO very much for such a great time!!
