This review is primarily for the emergency room…read more We recently had to take our daughter to the emergency room because she had a scratch on one of her eyes. There was very little wait time, everybody was friendly and helpful. The whole medical team did an excellent job, they made her feel really safe and helped her with her nerves. They did a great job of figuring out what was wrong, telling us what we needed to do. Really appreciated the service that we received and appreciated that there was not a long wait time for triage or to be seen by a provider.

They always blame the insurance company. Most of the hoop jumping to try and get her to a facility was done by friends NOT by the hospital. In the end they said they would charge her $1800 a day if she stayed past noon and she is on Medicaid. They sent her home with stitches in her hip because of bone being taken to put in her foot along with rods in toes. No weight bearing for weeks. When they released her I asked them "Can you guarantee her safety if she goes home, knowing that she cannot use a walker or even go to the bathroom without help?" The hospital nurse said "No we cannot guarantee her safety". WOW!! There it is right there - money money money. I don't know one person who has EVER been treated like this at Northwest Specialty Hospital. The doctors are amazing, the food is amazing - the mangement is aweful and the communication is even worse. I asked one of the nurses if she could send a case worker or advocate to talk to us and her answer was, "Well, if Ican find one". How pathetic that. Never would I ever rcommend this hospital to anyone. I will however, continue to go there for lunch - amazing food!

I had a very long labor with complications and when I finally delivered I had 2 doctors, 4 nurses, plus 3 from the NICU team in the room with me. My son was immediately attended to and taken to the NICU. After this experience I would never have my baby anywhere else. We were both very carefully monitored. The staff on the maternity floor was wonderful, every nurse was truly exceptional and a couple really made a difference in my stay.

She unfortunately fell while playing with her siblings and bit a large gash into her lip/cheek with her teeth. The ER doctor said that the procedure would be easy and successful. However, the two sutures that they put in were completely gone within 3 hours, leaving the wound open and painful for our daughter. My wife called in for medical advice the following morning, but all the nurses she spoke with said that the stitches immediately dissolving was totally common and happens all the time...which begs the question of why would they put us through all of this in the first place if they knew there was a large probability of it not actually working/doing anything? At least why wasn't my wife even warned of this possibility? Our daughter and my wife, were both extremely traumatized from the experience, the drugs/needles they used and the pain that our baby went through, basically all for nothing. Then, they billed us for multiple hours of Dr time, when the Dr was in for about 5-10 minutes. Dealing with the appeals branch of the hospital was just as painful as they did no real diligence into our situation and took them months to respond...

They have severe issues with staffing, competence. After her surgery she was brought to her room in uncontrollable pain. It appears the nerve block that was administered did not take, and The CRNA failed to inform the surgeon. He was also directed to perform a block after the surgery. He did not. I asked the staff for the next 5 hours to bring in a doctor or anesthesiologist. This never happened. It was only when I went to the nurses station and told them to prepare her to leave AMA, and I would be calling an ambulance to pick her up, did I finally get some help. Before leaving, the Doctor called in a prescription pain relief to Walgreens. When we arrived there, the pharmacist told me he couldn't fill narcotics with in 24hrs. It was very fortunate that I had recently had surgery and had pain medication with me. We also cancelled additional surgeries because of poor treatment with pain management , and staffing concerns. I would never have a procedure there again. I later had a procedure at another facility, and My wife later had 2 other surgeries at Holy Family. OMG, what a difference. She received the very best care, and actually left the hospital laughing. I would not recommend this campus to anyone considering a surgical procedure.

This is in response to the negative comment above…read more Robert Blomquist has been a God-send for me. I have had chronic pain and headaches for several years. I've seen therapists, doctors, massage therapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists and the like. Robert was recommended by one of my practitioners, so I set up an appt. My first appt. was nothing short of miraculous! He released so much pain and pressure, I had a hard time believing what I was feeling - relief! His techniques are different, but that was the best part about it. He's the first therapist I've come across who truly understands referral pain and how the body works. The man found painful areas I didn't even know I had. He asked to work on my tailbone after a few appointments, to which I consented to after he explained how it may help. He kept me modest and brought in another practitioner to help. It wasn't a big deal. It's not much different than a masseuse working on your glutes. As it turns out, mine was slightly turned to one side, which he corrected. A visit to Robert requires an open mind and at least some understanding of how the human body works (or be willing to learn). Robert is a kind, gentle, and funny person. He's also a very uniquely skilled physical therapist. I highly recommend him to anyone in pain.
